No, it is very believable.

Anno is batshit crazy, and looks threatening similar to me (except old, dumpy and Japanese).

I think he got over his mental problems....I mean he is married now, and unless the girl married him for cash, then I think that says something.

As for the gundam stuff....I'll look into it all. Once I'm done with Chobits and Death Note, I'm going to try and get back into gundam and into the side/other stories.

Ugh, meant to say "threateningly similar".

Damn my laziness, I make simple typos all the time.

REPLYING TO LLSTARKS MAKES YOU A COMPLETE IDIOT. Why? Because that post was made 4 years ago, we have never rules

1. what are your top 5 favourite anime.
2. What anime you hate.
3. what got you into anime.

Also, I suggest ignoring the line "even bakas can join" because we don't like idiots in the club.

If by 'like' you mean 'respect it as a classic and its influence on the market in general', then yes. But I doubt you mean that so no.

So, yeah.
I've been busy doing preparing for school, I haven't had time to post much.
I've been drawing this portrait of Haruhi and Kotonoha with each other, so far I've only got Haruhi down - And now I'm drawing Kotonoha. Wish me luck.

MISTAKES!

Holy titfucking Christ was this one of the bigger pain in the asses to draw.
First is was Kotonoha's hand mis-location.
Then it was her whole arm.
Then her HAIR.
then her expression.

There's so many mistakes in it that towards the end, I just gave up.
I put little to no effort on the eyes of each character and I didn't bother retracing to make it stand out more. You can even see the mistakes I did.

Blah. Maybe I'll try to draw it again, but for now... My pencil and eraser just make to many dark stains when erasing. >:(

Crappy finish:

Other than the eyes, I thought it was a damn fine effort.

I have also long been plagued with the "dark stains" problem, in fact, it had ruined some of my personal favourite drawings.

Yeah.
The whole drawing was going great until drawing Kotonoha.
I had to eraser Haruhi's lower-right abdominal area to put her hand in. I had to erase and re-draw it more then 5 times to get it on the right area. NOW if that didn't already look like someone rolled the paper in dirt then the hand surely made it look worse. That alone I had to erase twice, then the back of hair became a problem.

Her uniform however, was a sinch. From there on, everything was blackened due to my eraser and I couldn't edit anything anymore without making it look 10x worse.

Now that I look at it, Haruhi came out WAY better than Kotonoha.

With the exception of her eyes, of course.

I had to work with a #2 pencil and a crappy sharpener. #2s aren't exactly the best for drawing because they make much bigger lines once they're used more and more. I need to get some better drawing tools like a mechanical pencil, a some kneaded erasers. I don't start drawings with stick-figure outlines. Their useful most of the time but when you have to make less lines because your pencil makes line too dark at times and when your eraser can make that alot worse, I just stick with drawing parts and no outlines.

Oh, and thanks for the comments. Much appreciated.

I'll try and re-draw this sometime when I get better materials.
Which will actually be soon 'cause I need to re-stocking on school supplies.

Agreed, a shine better than I could draw her.

Yeah, the #2 is a bitch, but I often use one as well due to my laziness (I can't be arsed to search through my assload of art supplies for my sketching pencils).

I'm not a fan of mechanical pencils (lead's too brittle), but kneaded erasers are a must.

Sounds a bit like my technique.

I only use skeleton-style basic structure if I'm drawing an insanely complex full-body figure, and even then it can be a bit of a bitch to erase while adding the details.

90% of my drawing start with the face, I draw a nose and go from there. Once I have the shape of the head, I do the rest of the body and go back with various inks to add detail and/or colour.

Oh, and thanks for the comments. Much appreciated.

It's no problem. I have a lot of fun seeing other artists present their work.

After my trip (going away for a few days, but I may still be on ther interbuttz), I shall make an effort to post some of my better pieces (I'm like the king of the unfinished sketch).

They led can break unexpected to, which - If you're drawing a straight line, can mess that up.
Any suggestions on a better drawing tool?

Same here. Anime style drawings aren't my main "thing", I usually draw some dude in armor or random sketches of object and many other things. I use alot of place-holding lines in those. The only time I don't use them is when I'm drawing from a picture.

I never really got into using other drawing utensils, the only things I use are: Pencil, Eraser, Sharpener. But I suppose the only reason I never got to is because I never got to drawing anything REALLY serious. (Like a unique building, medieval weapons, etc... )

The cool kids use pricy sketching pencils and shading charcoal.

I almost exclusively draw human characters, most of them fairly realistic.

There is a good amount of Asian influence in my art (more manga than anime, less rounded lines and big eyes, more jagged edges and abstract style), though, and I tend to draw anime characters when I'm bored.

I usually have multiple pencils, an eraser and two or three pens (each a different colour of ink) with me at all times. If it suits the piece, I'll also use charcoal, coloured pencils and markers.

Looking forward to it, kind sir.

I'm wondering what works I'll post, though. I'm hoping to find that charcoal sketch of Kakihara I did earlier this year, plus I'll make an effort to dig out a few of my finished colour works.

What's a good art store to buy some of these at.
The only ones around here that sell art crafts are Target, Office Depot and a Ross. :\

The thing is, 80% of the time I draw things from an image. For some odd reason, whenever I try to draw something for myself, it comes out crappy. I can never draw anything nice without looking at an image for inspiration.

Wow, sorry, I'm no help there.

I usually get my art stuff as gifts or from luxury art shops when out of town.

Irony, I have the opposite problem.

My original work often superior to my attempts to mimmick or capture the spirit of an existing image.

How does the charcoal work?

Yes, very well.

Good for drawing and adding a nice tone to shading.

I'd digitally colour stuff, but I suck at computers.

Yeah, I'm much better with drawing an image from an image rather than visually.
The artwork I just finished could've looked 10x better 'cause I usually (with the right tools.) go in and edit EVERY single mistake I find. Like that Kotonoha image I drew a few pages back, it came out so clean because I actually had good tools to work with.

I'd digitally colour stuff, but I suck at computers.

Opposite for me.
I can't color anything with the actual image in my hand. But then again, that's probably because I never really gave it a try. I never color me images, mostly because the images I draw look way better uncolored.

To me, anyways.

Good idea.

Most of my better works were produced in art classes, most likely due to the awesome materials they had.

I only colour stuff for the sake of making it look zazzier or for art class (my teacher last year loved my art but disliked my preference of black & white).

I took a drawing class in my senior year of high school.

My teacher praised me for my preference of black and white, my obsession for shading, and my skill at the stipple technique. Also, my perspective work. Sometimes, I think I like M.C. Escher's work a little too much.

Mmmmm, Escher's work is amazing. One can never like it too much.

Also, I realized I'm not using detailed shading as much as I used to, I need to get back in to that habit.

I got two Hokuto No Ken fighting games for SNES, but they're in Japanese, so I can't even read who the characters are. I recognized Kenshiro, King, and the fat dude who absorbs attacks. Maybe I haven't gotten far enough in the series to know the rest of the characters (I've seen the first 14 episodes so far). Anyway, I suck at both games. I also got an SNES game based on Iria: Zieram the Animation. It's called "Hyper Iria" and it's also in Japanese, so I have no idea what's going on. The same goes for the Lupin III game I got for SNES, which is called "Lupin III: Densetsu No Hihou wo Oe!". Both the Lupin game and Zeiram game are side scrolling action/platform type games.
