Current method: Make big list, and initiate mass spree of purchases once I return to Hong Kong.

Best purchase so far would have to be the GaoGaiGar FINAL Grand Glorious Gathering Deluxe Boxset exactly 11 months ago; the quality is made of win, and the extra-win factor comes in the GaoGaiGar, GaoFighGar and Genesic GaoGaiGar action figures.

On a relevant note, La Blue Girl happens to be one of the series I'm currently watching, it is so awesome that words can't describe.

And the tentacle rape has nothing to do with it?
Lol, just kidding, but it is an epic show

That is hardly anything compared to random insanity demonstrated in FLCL.

Or the off-the-scale chaos in "Top wo Nerae!"

I disagree, that's also pretty far from funny, IMO.

As much as I enjoyed FLCL the first time around, I hardly find it to be a prime example of insane anime. But that's just me being a jaded, over-opinionated old jackass.

FLCL is good, but I never really saw why it's "great".

It's a show that involves guitar hitting, things coming out of dude's head, space pirates, a Vespa scooter, and robots. That combination ensures it's godliness.

That doesn't make it random. I didn't find FLCL all that random, but I did like the series. It was only 6 episodes, so I don't get how people can criticize the ending or not like certain episodes...IT'S FUCKING 6 EPISODES!!

Excel Saga was a bit more random, but most episodes was of a particular genre spoof...though the side plots of Nabeshin and Pedro made it seem more random than it really was. Funny series though, and good enough to make rewatching it enjoyable.

Yeah, Puni Puni Poemi was a two episode version of the last Excel Saga genre spoof, with lots of fanservice, a harem, and.... "sort of" showing different types of hentais.

I agree heartily.

I only half-agree here, short or not, the ending was savagely disappointing.

Nabeshin is one of the most badass motherfuckers ever, and the rewatchability is off the goddamned charts with Excel. I can't see myself getting bored with it.

I don't see why people didn't like it. Naoto getting the powers of Atomsk and having the two guitars, then kissing Haruko, then Atomsk being released, destroying the giant hand, then leaving for Haruko to continue chasing after him, and Naota being left with her guitar. I thought it was a good ending to a short series that was a little confusing.

How do you think it should have ended?

I have Poemi with character commentary, which is pretty funny, and also a "behind the scenes" video of that commentary....it would have been hilarious if they commented on the video of the making of the commentary.

I dunno, I just felt that it was a tad dry and dangerously unexpected for such a funny show to have a more serious ending.

Isn't that how Excel Saga sort of ended...with them making it serious? (not including the 26th episode.) But I guess that doesn;t count..cus them being serious was still funny..

And I thought FLCL has some serious/not funny stuff, but that was usually when they were trying to get a message out...like "swing the bat."

Yeah, but those metaphors got kind of grating. In fact, I have to say the attempts at seriousness kind of turned me off the series. I liked the weird sense of surreal/in-jokey humor more than anything else about the series.

Kamon was fucking cool, and Haruko was nothing short of fuckable. Plus, after watching it I desperately wanted a Vespa and Rickenbacker bass.

FLCL is just one of those anime....

I know some people who thought it was crap and very forgettable, but you can't let a person's opinion on one anime effect anything.

I don't think mentioning loli or fanservice is enough to get your account banned...you'd have to post a link or a picture that was sexually graphic.

Who here thinks Prince totally ripped of Excel Saga during his halftime show?

I don't, I faithfully watch stuff my friends hate and I'm never bothered by their complaints.

They do the exact same thing to me, except they tend to get pissed if I don't like a series they do.

It's the same for Will Ferrell, Dane Cook, Napolean Dynomite, etc...

And, of course, anime. People ask why do you like that, and I ask how can people like Laguna Beach or I Love New York.
