When I get back to Okinawa, I'm really gonna have to try to find that manga. I liked the show, but the manga just sounds so much better.

I don't know how many volumes have been released state side but there are currently 30 finished and the 31st is in production along with chapters from[which will be]the 32nd currently running. The manga was on hold for about four or so months, back in September or so and just recently started up about the middle of January.

But yes, it would do you the greater good to read the manga. Quite possibly the best manga that has ever been created.

Yep, which is probably why Dattebayo sought to get legal approval for their downloads.

Since Champloo (unlike Naruto) has already been completed, the entire series is for sale on DVD, and Geneon wants you to buy the discs instead of download the episodes. Thusly, Champloo (via psuedo-legal fansubs or otherwise) is NOT legally available for download.

Even the legality of fansubs is a strange thing, they are considered somewhat legal if subbed and released before American licensing, but once the rights to the series have been purchased, they become illegal.
