Still....even though it was a bad post, I have to be happy that your taste in Anime is very similar to mine. Try watching S-Cry-Ed and Full Metal Alchemist, you would probably love them.

I've decided to close out 2006 with an all-out anime marathon, and I'm starting to make a list of DVDs to pick up after Christmas, thus far I've decided I must own:
GiTS: S.A.C. Complete (It's $26 dollars cheaper than the American list price at the local record shop)
Mezzo: Complete Collection
Nerima Daikon Brothers Vol. 1

Any suggestions?

I didn't enjoy Mai-Hime's manga adaption, but I shall give it and Saikano a look.

I also feel the distinct need add Genshiken to my list of anime to buy....

The anime of Mai-Hime is pretty damn good, they differ, big time. Also, I'd actually prefer that you check out the manga of Saikano (Only 7 for $10, but each manga is pretty damn thick man. Worth the money.) If you could deal with the mood swings NGE presented, then you're only slightly prepared for what Saikano has to offer.

Currently watching Oldboy, I love this movie, gotta order the rest of the mangas some time.

It's a mix. NGE was a mindfuck to many, and deemed complex. Saikano is multi layered. I guess you could call it Romance/Comedy/Action/Drama/Sci-Fi. It's intelligent, and brings a lot of things tot he surface. It's pretty deep. I'm glad I spent time getting the seven mangas. The anime is also good, but it only differs strongly in one area, and that's the ending.

Ever seen Ichi The Killer, or the prequel called Ichi? I got both, my friend has the manga it was based off of. Koreshiya 1. Very good, it'd be cool if I could order some, but it's been a no go, so I gotta order some online I suppose.

Deep? Hmm, I don't mind "deep" but I can't stand mindfucks. I'll at least try it.

I've watched Ichi The Killer and the prequel about a dozen times, and I've read Koroshiya Ichi completely at least thrice in the past year. I even have a poster of Kakihara on my wall. It is my all-time favorite manga to movie adaption.

NGE wasn't all that hard to figure out, like I said before, if you watch Abenobashi, and FLCL, you kind've get to understand the true meaning of those shows, all too well. Saikano is good, I'd like to spoil it, but then you wouldn't enjoy as much. You could pick up all the Saikano Anime for about $50, that's only $20 less that you'd have to spend for all the mangas. yet I'd still prefer that first, before the anime.

Nice. I like adaptions, don't get me wrong, I sat down and started with the Battle Royale manga first (Got all 15, of course) so when I watched the movie, I was kind've disappointed. But I remembered that it all started with the novel so I bought that and read it, then watched the movie again, still disappointed. Part two was Ok though, nothing to go crazy for. Then I hear the news that America is going to make an adaption of the Battle Royale movie. Oh, I can see it now, rich kids, poor kids, ethnicities, and heavily uneeded nudity to keep people interested in the movie. Coming soon to a theater near you in 2008.

I didn't find the story of NGE hard to follow, I just hated the fact that the later episodes and movies ripped out all the humor of the initial 13 episodes and just turned the series into the anime equivilatn of Rorschach inkblot test. I personally loved the fact that FLCL was essenitally a cleverly crafted series of sexual metaphors, I'm sure Freud would have loved it.

Ugh, remakes. I hate fucking remakes with a passion. I actually enjoyed the BR film, but not for the story so much as the gleefully evil mood. I've never read the novel or manga, but I have heard it is far superior.

Ohhhh! What if I told you that America is doing a remake of Oldboy, right now...? How would you feel knowing that movie is only three years old right now is to be remade not even within a decade or two? Especially if it's good, oh well. And yes, the BR Novel and Manga are far superior, you got my word on this one.

Ethnicity = death mark. The black man will be the first to die, thus motivating the noble white guy to steal his girlfriend and start a quest of generic revenge. Yes, I've read the book and seen the movie. Shuya Nanahara = Noble white guy. Noriko Nakagawa = black guy's girlfriend who sleeps with his best friend five minutes after he dies (or will be that way in the American version). Umm...(fuck, I can't remember his name) Shuya's friend = dead black guy. (Goddamnit, another name I can't remember) Crazy hot girl = unable to act ugly girl they say is hot becasue she's skinny.

Why do I fight for this country?

Well, alright. I believe that remakes are a good thing for certain movies are mangas to be remade in America for the simple reason that most us (Well, the lazy mofos I know.) hate reading subtitles, and prefer to watch things in English. So in ways, I can't complain, we got Guyver, one and two. It wasn't remade, but adapted and turned out interesting, even got some fans out of it seeking the original work. So it's good, but bad at the same time.

...Uggh it's hard to make things seem good from nothing, but it was a good shot, you know?
At 12/15/06 11:32 PM, Wonko-the-Sane wrote: Ethnicity = death mark.

Being that I'm technically black...(Yes) I've noticed that it isn't cool to kill off ethnicities first anymore. So now it's usually fat people, or anyone with a disability or looks ugly that will die first and get no introduction. What I do know is that they'll make any of the black people in the movie out to be Thugs & Gangstas (Mothafu...I'm tired of that shit, this is why I would sue BET if I had a chance.) Oh well.

Why do I fight for this country?

Because Bush was smart enough to realize that fat people wouldn't be able to get away fast enough from an attack as easily someone that isn't.

Point taken, and the Guyver films were entertaining as Hell.

Since this club isn't in favor of eather show. Who do you think would win, Yusuke or ssj4 Goku. I mean Goku is super tough, but Yusuke can blow up a planet just by powering up.
Don't you think that's a really awesome matchup! Also include reasoning for your desicion.
