Futurama and Family Guy aren't anime. There are plenty of Adult Swim shows that are not anime, like Robot Chicken, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, and Mission Hill.

The misconception of what anime is and what anime isn't really pisses me off...

1. Everything you see on Adult Swim and Toonami is not anime.
2. The anime that does play on AS and Toonami is NOT the only anime you should and can be watching...

In the past, I have considered prohibiting the EXCLUSIVE listing of AS/Toonami animes for your "Top 5 Favorite Anime" when joining this club. The recent influx of n00biness has made me consider this rule once again.

I'm sick an tired of this over and over again...

4. Cowboy Bebop
5. Zatch Bell

WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO THE CLASSICS AND NEW SERIES?

What I am looking for is something more like this...

5. Excel Saga

Please understand where I am coming from, I want to restore a respectable image to this club. I want people to buy DVDs, watch fansubs (implied), read up and stay current with series.

I need your input before implementing such a rule...

Consider the following first.

1. Implementing this might make it harder for people to come up with animes in order to join.
2. Implementation would enrich discussion of anime beyond what one would normally see on TV.
3. Do you really want this club flooded with DBZ fans and Narutards? There are DBZ and Naruto clubs that would better cater to discussing these series.

Evangelion was on Adult Swim... So would just just say "List your top 5 animes, not including ones currently on Adult Swim/Toonami?" DBZ has been on for a while and they started showing DBGT....

Although if they do like the AS animes, they can still list others as their favorites, but still talk about the AS ones I guess (not just the American versions, but the japanese versions too).

The rule would be that the list can't include ONLY shows that are on AS or Toonami.

You can have 4 AS or Toonami shows, but the 5th has to come from elsewhere...

I don't care if you say Mew Mew Power/Tokyo Mew Mew or something from another network that plays anime.

Simply put, I want people to diversify themselves with their anime.

That's actually a very good idea... I don't know why I didn't think of it.

Give me an hour or two and and I'll formulate exactly how the new rule could be worded. I have some college coursework to do.

Yhea I think that you shold know more then whats on cartoon network. I have yet to see a pure drama show on cartoon network that I can think of. The only dvd I own period is iterstella 5555 but I rent a whole bunch, I'd like to think i have a ok number of anime i've seen. Also this saturday is the day where [AS] hands over the programing to someone and that someone decided to air all the episodes of FLCL along with like two of each of cowboy bebop, trigun, and paranoia agent.

I am also devising methods to improve anime knowledge in this club.

One method I have considered is a weekly: "Suggest an anime"

I heard about the FLCL thing, but I didn't know that AS was being handed over to someone else. Though it the person likes FLCL, then maybe things will be getting better. It wouldn't kill them to have like a 30min or 1hour slot for original subtitled anime...that's how I first started to really like it. When japanese Slayers was on and Betterman was on Tech TV...which was dubbed well.

I watched the anime before reading the manga, which may be a better way to go, since in that order the manga explains things that happened in the anime, instead of the anime leaving stuff out of the manga.

If that clip I made gets killed by anime haters who ignorantly vote 1 on anything that has to do with another culture it will also be on youtube....along with the dozens of others.
