A good idea although maybe not a very popular one would be be penalize people's protection points for subsequently deleted spam flash. Say if you voted 4 or 5 I think would be sufficient to curb mass voting for spam. This could be written into the rules. A vote of 2 or 3 is more of a neutral stance in my opinion and if the mass voters tried to protect with a 2 or 3 I doubt said flashes would stand a chance against the majority of users. would help to curb peoples votes to a fair score of something which the users know is spam.

Another good suggestion by Rupee Clock's was to give new users a VP of 2.00 this sounded like a good idea as well. This would balance things out a little.

Furthermore you could make it so that no author or co-author could vote their own submission into the portal.

This system if implemented could prove successful to where spammy submissions wouldn't have to be manually removed. Any one, or all of these things would help to keep spam off the portal, help to make users vote fairly, and save the admins a lot of time and asprin.

Problem solved? Maybe not but it's an idea, probably not a very popular one but something that would definetly help.

It's better than getting all your b/p points taken away or your account deleted! Opinions, suggestions?
