If you do gotoAndStop on a movieclip, it doesn't load the new frame till after all the AS is executed. So I can't access clips of the next frame to tell them to go to a frame until the next frame, which would result in blips when coding a character with multiple parts and such. Any ideas?
Hmm, best I can think of is this:

import flash.events.TimerEvent;
import flash.utils.Timer;

mc.gotoAndStop(2);
var t:Timer = new Timer(1, 1);
t.addEventListener(TimerEvent.TIMER, function(){mc.mc2.alpha = 0.1;});
t.start();

Here I'm setting the alpha of mc2 which resides in the second frame only of mc. Annoying and roundabout, but it looks like it might be needed :(

Tom-

Ok, this post is from a while ago, but I just recently tried this solution.

It didn't work. There weren't any errors returned, but there was still a frame delay. Anyway, I found a solution that does work.

Re:GTA 4

One thing I have liked(am liking) about GTA 4 so far is how long the story feels for me. I've bin playing it in bits when I can and it feels like years ago that Dimitri and Faustin were in the story. It is like chapters in a book, and each chapter is in a different area of the city. I'm dreading playing it from the beginning again because it feels like i've come so far. I just started working for the gay guy, i've got a feeling im nearing the end.

Xbox is quite good fun online Luis, they set it so that you are matched against people who are about as good as you when you play on 'ranked game'. For example, for ages I thought I was brilliant at Gears of War, but then I went on a 'Player game' instead of ranked and I got rinsed.

If you buy Pro Evolution i'll give you a game. I am good on that.

so i've been playing GTA: San Andreas a lot lately. only i keep hitting missions that are like "STOP, YOU CAN'T DO THIS, GO KILL YOURSELF!"

i'm learning to fly for the pleasant Mike Toreno in the game, and i am fucking stuck on the "circle airstrip" lesson. i'm using my keyboard only to fly. i fucking HATE flying in this stupid game! the planes are so fucking touchy. i'll bank to the right and my plane will go way fucking up and twirl around, followed by me trying to align myself for the next corona. usually i just miss it and i crash, because missing = FAILURE, LOL
only once have i actually completed it. and it wasn't good enough to pass it. i got 64% and i need 70%. i am seriously going to cry )':

has anyone else had this kind of trouble?

Current Projects

After writin' scripts for a few days I started work on another Duder game.
The idea for this one is that you play either as MTC or two-player as Val & Scotty in an avoiding game. Pretty much Mr. Bad has 'em trapped and keeps firin' mi nes at 'em. The mines bounce off the walls and ya avoid 'em. The longer ya last the better your score. I'm planning for another mine to be thrown in every 20-30 seconds along with projectors on the side going off showing Mr. Bad scream insults and comments at the player.
I thought it be fair for the player to be able to take 4 mines worth of damage before dieing. Mines will have a % chance to leave health pick ups and score bonus coins.

Early Works
Control MTC with the arrow keys and avoid the mines or let 'em all hit ya to watch him die.

Garenteed in less that a week I'll be smashin' up my room because of one small problem with the programming in this. :P

Thoughts? Your projects? :3

sorry, i'm just really, really fucking pissed beyond belief. well, i was, anyway.

if you read my last couple posts, you'll know that i'm playing GTA:SA right now, and i'm on a mission that is insanely frustrating.

i got past that circle bit, though

i'm current trying to destroy 3 stationary targets and 2 mobile ones with a helicopter, followed by landing it. and unless you've played that with a mouse and keyboard, then you have no fucking idea how insanely frustrating it is. destroying the three stationary targets is fairly easy (although i really get pissed if i somehow miss or if a truck bounces up and fucking kills me), but those mobile targets are pissing me the fuck off more than anything. because i keep getting fucking 67% or some other bullshit because it's so fucking hard to destroy those stupid little fucking vans. you have no way to aim the helicopter except by moving it around, so basically, when you aim at something, you're moving forward for whatever. so then i have to re-align this stupid fucking helicopter and get in another shot, somehow, which usually results in me clipping the fucking tail rotor and dying! if i fucking tap it on something, i die!

i had to tear up some of my brother's socks and listen to calming music to calm me down. <_____>

RE Beta Testing

I'll have a file uploaded and a link sent to all who said they would beta test for me today (Monday). Check your messages for a link eventually, probably later on since I'm wasted and will most likely sleep until 3. Anyway, thanks to all who responded, if you were not in the original group to beta test for me, message me and I'll be sure to include you. Well, I need water and sleep, I'll work my ass off tomorrow and send you all a copy, thanks again.

It's better to implement a SpriteClip class that is a Sprite with a list of other Sprites that act as its frames. You can use multiple instances of the Flash movieclip on their own frames as the member Sprites.

No its not. That is much more of a pain, and presumably slower, than simply putting the code on a seperate event handler.

You must not realize how complex of a sprite I'm using.

Oh yeah, and another thing..

Anyone tried out Acrobat Online Community yet? Its pretty neat. You can edit documents online and others can edit it if you allow them which is really handy. Another thing, which I'm really happy about, is the 'ConnectNow' feature. It is something that Adobe had before but I think you had to pay for it. Its basically your own private chat room with the power to show webcam, control others screens etc. Really neat ;)

Internet
I went to my girlfriend's marine lab this weekend to visit her... she's been doing an internship there for the past few weeks. I didn't realize the internet situation.

Long story short, there is no wifi. Given I have my iphone I always considered it my internet backup... I can still check emails and cruise websites on it. But my phone wasn't getting reception either. So I was left with nothing.

I never knew my dependence on the internet. The end.
