Does that load a jpeg file into it or did you have to break apart the whole thing and make every particle individual?

Either way, pretty cool effect. Even better if it loads the jpeg.

it prints a movieclip to a bitmap (so it can be anything), then goes through and creates a particle that has color, destination position, current position, and current velocity values, then every frame it goes through and does a fillRect on a bitmapData that covers the screen (I tried sprites before, it lagged WAYYYY too much).

That's where you lost me.

Lovely stuff, even though it lags.

Does the original mc need to be static? I was just thinking - if that were a loading bar, it'd be one of the most awesome loading screens ever.

Cool start for magnetism 3 or whatever your next project is.

Thats what I was working on with a particle effect once. I'm not too great with bitmapData, and it was written in AS2 so I stopped :P

Argh! I hate when they do that!

I also do the same thing with games, unless it's some ungodly long game like a Final Fantasy. I also hate when I accidentally skip a cutscene that I should have watched. It kills me not knowing what happened.

Finding Christmas Presents

I will never ever be able to find christmas presents in my house, my dad loves christmas and doesnt want to take the chance of the surprise being ruined so he hides them somewhere really good or my grandmother holds them hostage at her house, it don't matter to me anyways, every year i ask for things and every year i get them so im accustomed to it lol. I'm asking for a camera, 40 gb ipod video ( i think its time i get an mp3 player or ipod), snes (yes i want one, they are one of the best systems), zelda: link to the past (my fav zelda game), .skate (for the xbox 360), super mario galaxy (for the wii), and a MAD magazine, plus ill be getting money from my relatives so it shouldnt be too bad

That's disgusting, if I even suggest something for christmas that's over 50 bucks and I'm not splitting it my parents laugh and tell me to find a higher paying job. Presents at our family are generally less tangable, no curfue and not being called asking me where I'm sleeping then trying to guilt trip me into walking home. Which is great in it's own respects but over a grand worth of gifts sounds gross and fantastic.

Ya I'm jealous

Anyone notice that I left?
Doubted it =P

Re:Xbox 360 games

Does anyone have any suggestions on what good xbox 360 game i should get.

I already have:
Halo 3
Guitar Hero 3
Hitman: Blood Money
Dead Rising
Ghost Recon: Advance Warfighter
Saints Row
Gears of War

And I'm getting these ones soon

Skate
The Simpsons Game
Bioshock
Call of Duty 4
Lost Planet
Rock Band

Also don't say assassin's creed cause to me, that seems like a week rental but if you can think any games other then those that are good, please tell me and if you have 360, post your gamertag

The Simpsons game isn't too good, although i've only played the demo and been told. Skate is cool, i've not played the full version much but what I have played I liked. The camera gets a little annoying I found after a while, a bit more of a gimmick and a nuisance than 'bogus & super radicool'.

I bought Assasins Creed yesterday, and so far let me tell you, it's pretty class. Its quality being able to see so much, and can genuinely be fun running around parcóur'ing it. I wouldn't say rental (but then again I havent rented a game since Banjo Kazooie), it's a big game from the looks of things to come. I read a review on IGN basically shunning the game play, and another on Gamespot which heralds it as classs. I bought it just to see the scenery and how good the parcour was.

BTW - I bought it then looked on my reciept, I have until January 10th '08 to take it back... why rent game when you can just return them instead? I've done this for years.

I also bought Pro Evo '08 yesterday too, and everything I expected, and i've only managed to win one match so far.

MoglyTon is my gamertag. BTW for 360 owners, XBOX Live is Free between the 23rd and 26th of this month.

Re:PS3

PS3

I'm debating on wether or not I should pick up a PS3 or not. Does anyone know any good games for it. I'm interested in Heavenly Sword and Ratchet and Clank. Are there any good ones that are coming out for the system? If so, tell me, thanks.

My friend bought a PS3 in the summer and i've played it more than my own 360 since.

Resistance fall of man is good. It is a FPS that is good fun to play online. For anyone who has it, played USS Lexington with a Shotgun? My friend is brilliant at that and one of the best on their.

Heavenly sword looks okay from the demo we played, I think it may be a bit of a rubbishy game if you actually buy it though.

Eye of Judgement is a good game. When I say good I mean more innovative and a look of things to come for the PS3. Basically, it's a card game where you have a mat to put your cards down onto, and then the Eye Toy makes them appear on screen. It's not superbly done, but it is pretty kewell I must say. Eye of Judgement 2 will be better.

On the PS3 btw, here's some stuff you may not know. You can play it online for free, rather than paying for XBL. Although i've noticed the demo's on their wont appear so quick, and they have a smaller library. You can browse the internet, for free. This is very cool, my mate has a big telly and we sit and watch movies on Youtube while smoking a bong, fookin class. You can make videos on their with the Eye Toy, something also fun to do while smokin a bong.

The PS3 is a very kewell thing, and although its more expensive bla bla bla, you probably save that in not paying for Xbox live.

Well, the great games for it right now:

- Warhawk (everyone's raving about multiplayer, being the funnest multiplayer game they've played, then again, it's only multiplayer)
- Uncharted: Drake's Fortune (just released, and it's been getting great reviews)
- Ninja Gaiden Sigma (if you haven't played the original Xbox version)

Christmas Gift Swap

Can someone get around with organising it? I guess Luis is sick and tired of organising things, and if I do it I'll screw it up somehow.

Particle effect

Nice, I've just started making some myself (not as good as yours though, mine are very basic).

Adobe AIR

Anyone experimented with it? I tried to do something with it, and I don't know how to compile anything (I think its because I'm using flash 8 and I need CS3).

Anti-Depressants

So recently, I've been having random break downs like last night for example, where I just started crying for no apparent reason -- I felt really moody and gloomy, It wasn't a good day for me what so ever. Week prior to the break down, I saw a therapist and they recommended me to see more appointments and maybe go onto medication to keep me maintained. I'm not quite sure if I should take medicine to help my mood swings, I don't know quite what to do. So I'll see what you guys have to say. You guys really aren't immature as the rest of the BBS is.

I also decided to maybe become more of a regular again, I feel kinda lost at the moment, maybe getting my mind off of reality will let me settle things and become more calm. Eh, I feel so much like an emotional wreck, I don't quite want to seem like a weirdo though. Eh.

But back to the depressants, My brother said they make you more suicidal, I don't know about that -- but I don't want to become worse... :/

..::Anti-Depressants::..

First, your brother is sort of right. Anti-depressants can make you more suicidal if you're younger then your mid twenties. That is a fact.

I take two different anti-depressants every day now, the depression never totally lifts, nor the suicidal ideation's, it's just easier to tolerate life now.

Anti-depressants usually take a couple of weeks to a month to start really working, and it might take quite a while to find something that works well for you.

If you do decide to take them make sure there is help nearby if you do start to feel suicidal, keep someone informed.

Depressions

Out of interests, is this something that will go away naturally or can it only be suppressed with medicines? I know lot's of younger people have depressions, I was wondering if the depressions go away when they get older.

Depends on the kind of depression you have. Everyone gets depressed now and then and for most people it doesn't last that long. Depression can be triggered by some traumatic event, a loss or regret, but in time a person will come to cope with it and move on with their lives and not have any more problems.

People with long term depression will most likely have to be on meds for the rest of their lives or suffer with their depression.

If you are on meds and want to get off them, because you feel better, you need to see a doctor about tapering off the meds. Withdrawals can be a real bitch and you will want to keep your doctor informed of how it's going.

Mmmm... not quite. That's more of an example of classical conditioning or an unconditioned response (getting gifts) with a conditioned stimuli (the punishment).

Regardless, not reverse psychology. Reverse Psychology would be like telling a child not to bite their nails to get them to start biting their nails.

Reviews Being Deleted

I'm sick and tired of my reviews getting deleted. They aren't even shit reviews. Like this one.

This message is to inform you that the following review, which you left for Bill&Mari Halloween Game on 10/30/06 at 8:18:59 PM, has been deleted:

===============
Score: 2 / 10
Summary: why the hell is this so big (file size)?
Review: the graphics were pretty lame

The music was horrible and incredibly annoying

the game had no plot

i'm sorry, but after this game, I was ready to gouge out my eyes and quit flash. I hope this gets blammed. Really.
===============

It's a legitimate review for that piece of shit. To add insult to injury, the author has apparently been up voting the shit out of it. There's no way in hell that deserves a 3.5 anything.

I'm really just sick of the review mods saying "oh, this review is flagged, it must be bad!" Even if it's just a slightly negative comment on an Adam Phillips movie and all the fanboys got pissy. It's even worse with fucking iwillpress. Jesus, you can't say ANYTHING bad about how he doesn't redraw Foamy.

It just pisses me off.

I also laughed that it takes them so long to delete shit. a few weeks ago, I got a message that a reply form 05 had been deleted. I was like, wtf? That one somewhat deserved it though...
