Meh, we should just lock it for a couple of months so everyone gets used to being helpful again.

Or better yet delete it and watch everyones post count fall LOLOLOL

9.9 Obviously game sponsorships are the big moneymaker with Flash these days.

You could try to find some freelance work, I see a lot of shitty Flash banner ads that any idiot with Flash could do.

I have no idea why in the world you would look on MySpace for customers. There very well may be something seriously wrong with the way you approach things.

You can, if you can afford to fly halfway across the world and find my house just to play it. ;)

(There's really not much there to play, ya know, only A Year At Pooh Corner and Sonic Game World). XD

Yeah, and how are they gonna find your site in the first place unless you mention it to them?

thats true...so you still have to actually find the people, they won't find you

Response to The Flash 'Reg' Lounge 2007-11-12 00:16:38

With that vote, you now have 3,210 experience points. You need 0 more to get to Level 18. The next Grounds Gold day begins in 23 hours, 50 minutes, and 0 seconds.

lol Level +1 :3

Making money.

I was surprised at how many ways their were to make money for flash. Freelance work can pay well but sponsorships blow me away. And if your willing at actually sell the rights to the game too you can get anymore, but I think we all like the keep the rights to our babies.
Now that we've gone over the "we need to find poeple and they can't find us part" here's my question... What are the poeple you want to find? Their isn't exactly an archive unless your looking for sponsorship. I've always felt ArmorGames, CracyMonkeyGames, and one that starts with a K that I can't pronounce... Were all well paying ones though you need high quality stuff... David Rowan from HentaiKey pays well too though he buys the rights of the games too. So you'd only be allowed to post demos of stuff on NG and your site.
Anyway yeah money is nice. I've made almost $3.00 from the ads on my site in the past week and I got my $200 Orphan Fund coming in at the end of this month. :)

Making Money

I started working on a game to get sponsored about a month ago... I need some cash. Anway...

Music and Newgrounds

My two favorite bands (RHCP and Beck) are my favorite bands because I heard about them on Newgrounds. It's kinda weird when I try explaining to people why I like them... has anything like that happened to you guys?

I do agree with this, although I find it lame that you fingered luis and I as the types who might come in and do that, then proceeded to do exactly the same by listing off the people who were regs in your hayday and capping it off with an old "Fun times", which might as well have been "Those were the good old days". Just kinda tripped on your own feet, is all :P

Can you wear that halo helmet?

I remember somebody saying that they were big enough for a cat, so I doubt it.

But don't take my word for it.

KIRK FTW
I recently submitted my newest music video, Reveal, to the portal and it got a score of 3.6. I slept well that night. When I awoke, people informed me that some prick made a certain thread about how people should go and vote 5 on it. First, I have no idea who he is. Secondly, since it was posted in general, they all voted 0 on it. Not it has a score of 3.2. That made me feel...angry :) So I PM'd Kirk to lock the thread, and then the thread was locked. All hail kirk. :)

Why am I saying this? Well, being Flash people do you think you guys could watch it and vote in a more fair fashion? I hope you like it, it took me 5 weeks to make :c

talking of the good 'ol days and the departure of regs from this website, i'm finding myself becoming more and more dissasociated and posting less and less, maybe its just because i am just becoming more and more experianced, but it does feel that the general level of maturity and professionalism in the flash forum and elsewhere is dropping, and has dropped radicly, i can remember the time when i could post a thread on complex algorithmics and get a proper discussion going on, whereas now if i were to do that two things would happen, it would just get lost, or it would be full of people with no idea what they're talking about trying to 'help' then getting annoyed when you tell them thus.

in other news, my hair and clothes absolutely reek of burnt coal, wood and spilt beer, all in a good night ^^

One of the things I'm looking forward to when I have enough understanding of Actionscript is helping people with AS related questions. About 70% of all the topics in the Flash forum seem to have something to do with Actionscript, so I can't really help out there.

What I find irritating is that there are people who answer questions without sufficient knowledge on the subject. It's okay that you're trying to help but it won't do any good if it isn't the right answer. Not giving a proper explanation for the answer is also something I find irritating. It doesn't really help getting someone any further if they don't understand what they did wrong. I've probably done it myself countess times, but I try to pay more attention to it nowadays.

The Problems with helping poeple.

Yeah most of the questions are about AS. I'm looking forward to knowing so I can help too.
What annoys me is when I screw up. If any of you have noticed I'm a terrible speller and don't have the best grammer. That's cause I didn't really start to learn english til' I was like 3 and before that I was speaking dutch and had a speach empadiment. Plus my keybourd hates me sometimes.
Anyways helping poeple on NG is surprisingly fun. It's somewhat of a learning experince too cause you can work together with some poeple to solve the problem. I don't like helping poeples IRL often. I'll carry an old ladies bags to her car or open the door for someone maybe but thats it. Doing things online over forums is nicer. You don't actually interact with the person physically. It makes it more comfortable.
Pretty much the only thing that annoys me is me. If I screw up or somethin', I've always been a lil' self-concious.

Somethin' you've always wanted to do but it's near impossible.

I've always wanted to learn ballroom dancing yet I could never find or afford lessions. I use to love watching movies with ballroom dancing or watching poeple dance. I always found it really cool. Tried doing it myself but had no idea what I was doing. :P
Anything you guys have ever wanted to do but can't?

Confessions! :D
Confess somethin' weird/random about yourself for fun! It'll help strengthen our bonds. :3

I've always liked watching the Disney movies for lil' girls like Snow White, Cinderilla, Little Mermaid, etc. etc. My fav movie of all time is another girly movie called The Princess Bride which I think is a great example of classic movies.
I also like listen to bands my friends consider '90's teen girl music like one of my favorite bands Aqua.

...I haven't slept yet this weekend! :) Probably pass out sometime today.... Maybe.
Note: If I'm being annoying/draining just say so and I'll f*ck off.

ive never been a big poster but i do like to read through the flash forum and i agree it does feel like there has been a rapid decline. I find this will be the one thread ill scan through just because on the off chance there is something interesting worthy of in depth discussion/debate. At the moment the forum feels like its going through another one of those collab phases so i find im rarely reading other topics just because they arent fresh or people with genuine problems are being bumped out by these fads. If it werent for all the collabs i might get more chance to check out the algorithms you write up they give a good perspective on various ways of coding a particular solution.

I think the another problem is there has been alot of effort put into tutorials such as the AS:Main. Whilst these sort of examples are great starting points when faced with a problem, weve become lazy and keep shoving examples in peoples faces when they ask out for help rather than having an open discussion which can be at times more beneficial. On the plus side you can so off your understanding on the topic matter and isnt that how you get recognized in the community?
