Wouldn't be to hard if you had a good tile based engine that removed any offscreen tiles. That's the thing about me, i can always think of a way to do something, but i never have the skills to do it >:(.
The game looks great so far buzz, i'm liking it.

Fortunately flash saved me from WoW, I stopped when I realized how dramatic it is not to be able to flash for more than 30mins/week while my subscription is activated.

WoW
I got the 10 day free trial, started up with a human warlock and had fun for a few days. But I don't see how people can get so addicted, since I got bored and stopped even before my subscription ran out.
Well obviously you didn't do any PvP, that's the only reason I play. (pvp=player vs player)

I did actually :P
Only the low level ones mind.
Oh, right.. pvp at level 10 when you only got like shadowbolt and curse of agony, must be really fun .

Actually, my main was a tank so no real PvP for me :(
At 70 I got in a fight with a 70 Druid in Outland when he was trying to steal my ore fel iron deposits (it was like two in the morning and I couldn't sleep, so not too crowded). It took over ten minutes of interrupts, stuns, spell reflects and flying mount chases to take him out XD.
I'm gonna go level up my rogue for a bit anyway :)

Sucks, couldn't you respec arms? Iknow lots of warriors who tank in raids and respec arms in weekends for battlegrounds and duels, cause you get bonus honour during weekends. My main is a tank too, although I haven't MTed in SSC/TK yet, but I respec holy every week for arenas. (only 1800 rating so far, we really don't spend any effort on it). Trying to level a frostmage to 70 now, it's the best class in solopvp imo.
Urgh, stop talking about WoW. Please?
Flash classes at school
Well, in my multimedia class we've started doing actionscripting. Man, I just spent about 3.5 hours sitting there because I finished everything in 10 minutes. Fuck my class seems mentally challenged. Has anyone else had the pleasure of doing flash in school and raping the shit out of it?

Why? :0 would you feel tempted to play WoW if we talk about it? muhahaha *talks about WoW*

Yeah, I've been there, hombre. The guy teaching us AS wasn't even an AS'er, he was an animator. What made it even worse is the way he coded was completely different from how I do. =/

give me an example of teh way you and he codes, and ill choose who to agree with on that one :P but i assume since hes not even an as'er its going to be horrible,

My school on;y has flash as part of their "web design class" which I'm not taking. It was enough trouble to get them to let me take c++ without having taken their little MS Office class first.
Anyway it's just for the credit considering that the little bit of c++ I know is 10x more than they'll teach me in that class. But all my friends are taking it so it should be like a massive party.

Well, I've not played for months now. I'm just gonna use my rogue for the PVP side of things untill I move back to Prot-speccy.
Plus it always irritated me having a ridiculous number of gear sets. I already gotta carry mitigation set, stamina set and various resistance sets without having to worry about crit set, strength set and hit rating set :P
Anyway, anyone noticed how cold water seems to move differently to warm water? I got a drink in front of me with about eight ice cubes, and it's kinda hypnotic how it jiggles about...

lol, you should just correct him at every line. "Are you going to use strict data typing at all today? And is that a line without a semi-colon I see there? No, no, no - you can cut those six lines down to one with a bit of binary logic... For goodness sake man, code on the timeline!"

lol, they guy was just in love with layers, every bit of AS got it's own layer. He always coded on the main timeline. He should have at least done some code inside of an MC, so he could use _root/this/parent etc and taught the class about hierarchy in Flash.
He also gave symbols the same name and instance name. Which is stupid when you're trying to teach someone about instances, because that's only gonna confuse them.
At 8/8/07 08:21 AM, Paranoia wrote: lol, you should just correct him at every line. "Are you going to use strict data typing at all today?
lol, we didn't even get as far using variables.
For goodness sake man, code on the timeline!
lol, he did (in fact he had a new layer for each bit of AS), but we never did anything more advanced than loadMovie, so I didn't see the point of going through all the effort giving all the buttons instance names when we could have just used on(press){} It would have saved time, especially if we were going to re-use the buttons on another frame.
All that being said though he was really good at drawing, so I think that's why he got chosen to run the class (the first 6 weeks were spent drawing this model (with pencils, mind you) and the last 6 weeks we AS'd). He was a final year student, so hopefully I might be able to do the AS part in my final year :)
Re: Flash Class
The flash class at my school was multimedia for the web (flash, photoshop, dreamweaver)
I owned the teacher at almost everything except dreamweaver.
It was funny because I was better than him at actionscript, and I am not even a good actionscripter in the least.
But yeah it was a fun class because me and my friend finished everything easily and just played web games.
Re: Flash Class
Damn, I wish we had flash classes. Must be fun when you know 10 times as much as any of the teachers :D
Re: Flash Class
The grade 12 IT class at our school used Flash, and that was the one year I didn't take it. I waited for it to come too, during the earlier years. However, it came down to either that class, or a spare at the end of the day. You can guess what I took.
As for our IT teacher, he seemed to know his stuff pretty well, and was actually a pretty good teacher.
- Flash Class -
In my senior years of highschool I chose to do multimedia as a subject as it said it would deal with stuff like animation, games, video, sound etc....I had only learnt about flash back then and really wanted to get into that sort of thing, learn some more, improve.
I was so pumped for it, but I soon learnt that none of the teachers in the IT department knew much at all about flash really, just some basic stuff, like...tweening.... :/
Except my actual teacher for that subject had no idea about anything that really related to multimedia and digtal arts and stuff.
So, I pretty much had to teach myself everything. By the end of the first senior year pretty much 80% of my class dropped it, seeing as they had no clue as to what they wanted to do or how. Some chick wanted to make some harry potter game for her major work, and started creating it in...Powerpoint
My other friend just wanted to make an interactive skate guide which i helped him out with, and I made this big interactive movie called Animania which I eventually finished, and got 100% for it and also front page on newgrounds haha. Although i really hated what i ended up with cause my motivation dropped throughout the year and i got bored of and got really lazy with it. Every time I watch it I laugh at how lame it is...
that's my story :D

Flash in class
I'm dreading this year because we have flash in computer class, which means a lot of people gathering around me, asking for help and going 'woah' at the slightlest tween. >.<
ng slow
The delay on the letters doesnt improve my typing..
wow
never played it. i have enough distractions. a friend has it tho.. she made me a character but never let me play, the ni saw how addicted she was.. stealing her sister's ram card and almost destroying her computer trying to open it, i'm glad i am no wow adict.
question
Lets say i want to work as an animator.. make epic cartons for tv and stuff.. what carreer would i need to study?
i dont know how careers are over your side of the world but anyway..
Reg Lounge's Birthday
I'm up for it. :P
Flash Classes
I toke a graphics art class before and my teacher only knew how to use the "stop();" code and motion tweens.
In my animation 11 class we didn't even have flash. She expected us to make 10 minute FBF cartoons with photoshop and image ready.

Yeah, one of my friend just bought wow a couple of months ago. Now that we've finshed school all he does is work and play wow.
He told me to buy it once, but i was like nah, I don't really want to get into it, as it'll probably keep me away fom flash >:(

I would say anything that involved animation pretty much, for obvious reasons. Maybe, something to do with filming, illustration, and stuff like that which would be helpful to an animator.
Also so you can develop a portfolio so for when you finish your education you can show it to animation studios and such.

Your school must've really sucked.
Flash Classes
The media courses at my school teach Flash but they use the books that anyone can buy and make little lessons out of sections from the books. They use Teach Yourself Visually Flash MX, which was the first book I got, so I knew everything before he even said it. My school is way behind when it comes to technology.

World of Warcraft talk
I only has a lvl 15 Warlock right now, damn close to lvl 16, I'll lvl him up today and do more quests in Elwynn Forest. The new expansion pack looks good but the higher lvl stuff looks intimidating.
