My favorite book i've read, is 'The Beach' by Alex Garland. It is the same story as the film, however it's just not been TURNED into a hollywood film if you get what I mean, the book is very good, the film not so.. chick flick'd basically.
Ah, was it really that good? Ah, I'll check it out sooner or later. And I'm going to be honest, I like chick flicks (: Heh, I'm a loser I know. But for some reason, I'm a sucker for cute romantic movies. Also, I know what Hollywood does to movie. Adds all those special effects and changes the whole dialogue basically to make it the way THEY want it. Blehh.
It's about a traveller called Richard who goes off travelling, then finds this beach community Island and becomes a part of it. Very good read.
The book my friend told me about is about a boy who writes to various people that really don't know him about his everyday problems and life. Eh, let me copy it from the wikipedia page x] I haven't read the book yet so yeah.
"The story takes the form of a series of letters to an anonymous friend written by the narrator, a teenager who calls himself Charlie (his real name is never mentioned).
The story explores topics such as introversion, teenage sexuality, and the awkward times of adolescence. The book also touches strongly on drug use and Charlie's experiences with this. As the story progresses, various works of literature and film are referenced and their meanings discussed.
The story takes place during the 1991-1992 school year, when Charlie is a high school freshman. Charlie is the wallflower of the novel. He is an unconventional thinker, and as the story begins he is shy and unpopular."
Alex Garland btw is the guy who wrote the screenplay for 28 Days Later, and wrote an initial draft of the Halo movie.
Ahh, I gotcha. I never actually heard of him honestly. I'll look into it though. I heard 28 Days Later was suppose to be good. And about the Halo movie, usually Video Game movies aren't so good. But in my opinion, I enjoy them. Even though some people didn't like the Resident Evil movies, I did. And they are planning to make a third. Oh boy. x]
