Man i've always lived in the country. theres about 750 people near where i live (and I'm not trying to be rude but most of them are like over 50(and most of those people (like half of all the people) are over 70)).

I think moving to a city would be awsome and either open some type of computer store or do something with programming. For city's i wasd thinking either Vancouver or somewhere where it's warm all the time. (I know vancouver's always rainning but a lot of the time i like the rain ( it gives me a reason to stay inside and work on flash)

As for thinking about the future. Most of the time i have this weird feilling like this is just some weird memory and I'll wake up and be like 20 years older and go oh crap that was weird as hell and go on with my life. So why worry about the fututre (it's gonna happen no matter what you do).

Re: coding on a single frame

I think putting code on objects themselves is crazy, flash shouldn't let you do that i guess if your game is all hardcoded and not really dynamic thats alright and simple things for animations you can use code on symbols but really you shouldnt in my opinion, for 1 it means you have to have all your objects on the stage at the beginning and any code contained within a dynamically placed object has to reference the top timeline from itself rather than the physical location and for those of you who dont know the AS for onClipEvent(enterFrame) from the main timeline all you do is

newMovieClip.onEnterFrame = movingFunction;

function movingFunction():Void
{
//as for that movie clip
}

and then now i can make many movie clips use the same function so theres no need for every movie clip to have AS on it think about it say youve got 4 movie clips on the screen all using the exact same code maybe its for a platform that detects if an object is hitting it, so say you want to change the function of that clip slightly then you would have to go through and change the code for all of them, its so much easier if they all reference the same code!

I want to be the very best like no one ever was. to catch them is my real test to train them is my cause POKEMON nah seriously i would love to move to some greek island on a hill overlooking the ocean and start a small cafe or bike hire shop for tourists but before that i would like to make lots of money from games or something so if my bike shop doesnt make money its no loss to me...

I guess I understand where you guys are coming from- I might actually start coding that that, too. The only problem I find with it would be getting different codes for different things lost, but it wouldnt be a problem if I just used the 'find' button.

I have a TON of flash questions. Most of them are AS related. I'm surprised there isn't an AS
sticky thread. So i'll post here

this returns "onClipEvent only allowed in movie clip instances" even though i'm puting it inside the movie clip. And it doesn't work when i test it.
I have a little knowledge of C++ and the syntax seems to be similar in AS, but finding out where I need to put my code (in frame, symbol, every frame, etc) is throwing me for a loop.
No pun intended.

Aspiration

I've always wanted to code for a company like edios or Ubisoft, but i'm having second thoughts :(. Definitely something design oriented though, i love doing that sort of stuff.

I swear I can never get the same thing to work twice in flash. Learning c++ was far less frustrating.

lolwut? There is a Flash sticky, wtih lots AS links in it.

Also the reason, you're getting that error is because you need to place the code in Movie Clip, not just on a random frame.

I hate any ones which make noise, especially when you cant turn it off without clicking on it. I'm not having any problem with them taking processor power though.

Or just think about it naturally. Wings are kinda like arms with big feathered areas attatched. I think that the movement of a bird comes quite naturally when animatoring.

Banner ad's

There seems to be more and more flash ones that are taking up cpu power again, annying..

even more annoying when your typing in this box here and you can see the flash suttering because you are typing...

Luckily the bbs only has the top banner an outside ad, so ther isn't two swf's running at the same time eating away your power..

although to be honest, if i play a WMA file and type on the bbs the wma stutters aswell.. so it my just be this box thats the blame.

I really hope to go to school in the city after high school. It's the perfect place for me because I'd be able to get home really easily. New York is the best city because everything is always happening there. It really is the capital of the world.

In my opinion... the biggest waste of my time. I mean seriously, why am I required to take 38423 different subjects? Wouldn't it be better if everyone could focus all their attention on the things they enjoy to learn? This way, instead of being kinda okay at a few things, we can be really good at one thing... And I have to say, a majority of my school day is spent sitting around idly or walking to classes. I really can't wait to get out of this shit hole.

High school is more like that than middle school. In middle school, we had 3 choices to make. Band, Chorus, or a foreign language (or none). Then we were forced to take everything else.

This term, I'm taking:

AP Calculus (a year early, i'm special)
Honors Physics
Honors Chemistry (the teacher pwns but chemistry is a bit meh)
Jazz Combo
Wind Ensemble

then on the side of "boring" classes
Later American Literature

That's 5 classes of math, science, and music that I wish to focus on, and only 1 class that they make me take to graduate that I wouldn't take if I didn't have to.
