Yeah, export it as a html and then you can set it as a background :)
I tried to make an interactive post-it note type thing but gave up due to me being a lazy shit.
Also I've come to the conclusion that the messier and fuller your desktop is, the more of a man you are. So far Jmtb02 and Me are the manliest :P!!

Digg Denvish's File Uploader and give Denvish some love. I noticed it wasn't submitted to Digg, and I wanted the honors. Show Denvish some love.

But it's the best way to see where everything is. What really bugs me are people who don't have any quick launch buttons. I have like 15. Start>Programs? Fuck doing that everytime you want to open something.

i have 25. And much like my desktop, most are completely useless to me.

And the mian reason its so messy is simply because im to damn lazy to clean the stuff up. My bed is a complete shit-pile as well. I wake up, throw all the stuff thats in my comp chair onto my bed, and when i go to bed, i throw all the stuff that is on my bed onto my chair. Tis a cycle.

What reduces lag better?
_visible = false;
or
gotoAndStop("blankFrame");

Then don't look at jmtb02's desktop. It's just a swirling vortex of icons. I doubt he needs all of them. By the way, I have the same problem. That one folder on my desktop has everything inside, neat and organized.

I would guess that those two are about the same. But being that I would think they are both still in memory, actually removing the MovieClip would reduce it the most and that's what I usually do.

Not a bad idea, but to remove the movie clip, it needs to have depth. Should I apply a depth and then remove the MC seimotaniously?

Sure, just to a swapdepths, or if you don't want to maybe attach it in the beginning via attachmovie to avoid having to swap but I can't see any problems with swapping depths.

_visible = false, this prevents the swf from ever rendering the clip while when it's a blank frame, the swf has to render the blank frame, I.E. send a call to the rendering function and then exit it (still lags more than not doing it in the first place)

Re: desktops

I generally just chuck what ever shit i have onto my desktop but surprisingly this is one of the times when it is neat

http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i4/Pete_Rya n/deskentop.jpg

also as a question how come some people are able to have larger pics in their posts like "larger pic by whosyourdaddy" is it like a mod thing or forum specific?

Flash Frame Limit

i have flash 6, the frame limti is 10k i elvie.. but what ahappens at 10k? does flash crash or does it just not export the swf?

Cuz, if the main flash can export the 10kframe movie as a swf correctly... then it should work when played via flash 9 < internet>?

... also, what work arounds are there for this frame limit juice?
asking mainly cuz a mvoie i'm working on is verging on the 10k point, took long enough to fix the sound bugs, don't want the mvoei ruined by 10k bugs >:(

subtly got the thread back on flash!

The 16,000 Frame Question

:Dear lord man. Take time with your posts! What the heck is an elvie?

The cap is about 16,000 frames on the main time line. Flash will export this, but the player will just stop dead when it hits frame 16,001. Test your 16,000+ frame movie and note how nothing will get around this road block. No gotoAndPlay scripts, no right clicking... nothing

... also, what work arounds are there for this frame limit juice?

Put everything inside movieclips. They also have 16,000 frame limits. However, a 16000 frame movieclip that tells the main timeline to move forward a single frame to the next 16000 frame movieclip when it finishes should work wonders.

Hope your code uses _parent and not _root, otherwise there may be some troubles.

For things other than single swf files, loadMovie is the best way around it. Same principle, only it's an entire SWF you're loading into that movie clip. Which will probably make for a cleaner library.

Oh. There's also a 16000 layer cap, and a 16000 loaded movie cap as well.
Anyone know if these have been wrtten out yet?
