In previous experiences from ASing
Would any of you ASers out there say that making an rts is difficult? I have some idea of how to make the structure but then creating some of the supplies and such starts to seem overwhelming. The best game I've done is Hook Shot and its just small. I want to make an rts so I can play it on my laptop (my sis is in university and hogs the desktop where I have all my supreme games) my laptop could do it but I save the space for flash. I don't wanna waste a week of trying to code when I could be making another silent successful mini-game.

Congrats Fuzz
Congratulations.

Whoa its me!

Swearing

I appreciate that I have an annoying habit of double posting when I forget something I want to say the first time around :P

Anyway, I've officially decided to stop swearing. I didn't realise how much I was doing it whil;e just talking untill this week, and decided to stop alltogether this morning when I managed to swear twice in a short sentance asking if someone had had a haircut (trust me, it was OTT).

This does not extend to quotes, serious writing or situations where it is absolutely, totally and unbelievably appropriate (although the latter isn't something which should crop up daily). It covers the words normally considered as swearing in normal, borderline middle class British society, i.e. 'fuck', 'dick', 'wank', 'shit', 'cunt', maybe 'piss', 'bastard' and 'bollocks', e.t.c, so don't go being an idiot going "OMG he said hell!!!". It does extend to the BBS and casual text conversation, so I'd appreciate if you guys could watch me like hawks and beat me every time I slip up.

kthx

RE: Fuzzy third

Congrats :). You deserved it, i'll re fav it now :D.

Re: Swearing

I swear when i need to, or casually, eg, if I'm laughing at someones joke, i'd go, 'thats fucking hilarious' or something :D. I hate people who swear after every word >:(.

Fucking morons >:).

Programming an RTS
Yeah, it's actually rather complicated. Then again it's nothing huge, though I haven't managed to figure out a handy approach to the game.

Safe to unblock Cybex? :P

Of course that would depend on how developped the RTS would be, it can be a very simple 'lead your troops to point B' game or a really big project, like you can construct buildings and train units, etc. The only problem I would have is the AI, it'd be very tricky.

Pro Gamer (UK)
Does anyone get Pro Gamer in Europe? I am apparently in it with Dim this month. Would someone be willing for a few shiny pennies/stickers to post a link and/or send me a copy to the US?

Unhacked

It's the February issue, not the January. A scan and copy would be awesome :). PM me if you'll pick me up a copy, I'll love you forever.

That's a strong word. Do you swear you'd love me forever if I do it? No matter what I do to you after it, you'll always love me?

The 'you' pronoun in english can be used in both plurial and singular, therefore you're not necessarily the only one that he'll love forever.

Indeed the AI, it'd be a first for me to program AI, I was gonna have like the options for your troops to attack and defend, so they could start to attack or defend you settlement. Then instead of getting uber complicated with resources have like... just the option to build a village and it takes care of just one total cost which is money and you use money to keep purchasing upgrades to your settlement and add more troops. And then I suppose I could try the AI and just have it randomize its upgrades and randomize when it makes troops and when they attack... but that of course is easier said than done.

Whoa its me!

RE: RTS AI
Another thing you could do is have different phases for the AI, and different patterns. Example:
1) Train 3 miners and mine enough gold
2) When you have enough gold, by certain buildings decided by the pattern the AI is following (eg: aggressive, protective, etc)
3) Train enough troops
4) Attack
5) Repeat 3 and 4

RE: OLD REGS:

Neg will always know who the OLD Flash Regulars were, right Neggypoo?

;D

Of course that's not to say times change and there is almost a completely NEW generation of "regs". Honestly, I barely see anyone from back then. When was the last time you heard from Mercurious? Or what about iamthom? Remember those guys?

Heh, Iamthom actually sent me a private message on WiiCade recently. He had come across the site and was surprised to notice I was an admin.

Hahah, that's fantastic. I gotta find his email or something.

We should get a massive reunion of the old Reg's together. Just to see whatever everyone is up to now. I doubt it would ever work, but it would be nice to see where people ended up in college and if they still do Flash.

Re: Music Collab Request

I think you should stop posting this in other threads, it is more than likely that people are aware of your music collab so they will either ignore it or post in it. Posting in other people's threads is probably going to get you nowhere.

I joined the NG BBS one year and two months after you, or even less if you didn't join the bbs as soon as you created your account. Do I count as an old reg or as a little spammer kid? :P I guess it was another reg generation though, I joined just in the period when schorhr started leaving.

By saying "Old Regs" I am specifically refering to those members of the NG BBS about two years ago that played a big part in the ORIGINAL 'Flash Regs Forum'. Of course, the programmers of this generation, it seems, far exceed what we knew back then. I'm not sure many of us would fit in anymore.

BUT YAY, at least people were as dedicated as we were back then. <3 you all.
