Windows export of my openfl game took 6 minutes to compile, flash took 6 seconds and is 400x smaller. There's not even that much involved. How do people work in this environment?

it'd fare better on release mode with full dce

Release mode and full dce ended up taking 5 minutes to compile, and the filesize was 140 instead of 650mb.

So I cancelled my GTX 980 order in order to pay off some debts instead. I payed my debts, but the cancellation was too late.
Oh well.

Thankfully I actually have enough money to cover this

When I see questions in this forum, I no longer feel like reading them and helping. Does this mean I'm an old reg?

So I don't believe I mentioned it here but at the end of my month of hell when I moved my girlfriend broke up with me.
It's been a few weeks since, and we remained friends.

Just today we started talking (and flirting) a bit and became friends with benefits. Able to see other people, still.

I'm not exactly sure what to think .-.

She says she's going to sit on that for a year or so and figure out what she wants, then consider being more than friends again if we're both still open to it.

My boss asked me to cover a couple of shifts up in Boulder this week, so here I am.

There was a bus in front of me on the highway that rear-ended a car and then promptly crashed into a construction barrier.
Welcome to Boulder?

I mean, the roads were certainly worse last night, cop cars and ambulances everywhere, then I passed a power line that looked like it was made of lightning it was sparking so bad.

Winter isn't done yet, apparently.

It's absolutely fucking ridiculous how many messages I send and how many replies I get on dating sites.
Seriously, one reply in maybe 30-40 girls and even then the conversation dies without so much as a phone number or even Skype or even a fucking e-mail address.
No. Nobody wants a cup of fucking coffee with me because every other fucking guy ruined it with penis pictures and pickup lines and being fucking idiots.
My holy jesus christ this is so goddamn frustrating, genuinely reading every profile and trying to get even a small conversation going with fucking anyone.

Oh, but of course I get messages from all the gay guys. Profile says "straight" for a reason!
I do not like da coque.
I did not order the banana split.

/rant
I feel slightly better

I'm gonna go make an account with hot guys as profile pics and then ignore every girl that messages it.

I wonder if there will ever be an end to old regs passing by to reminisce. Many of the people you listed have stopped by at least once or twice to see who's still around, and there are other regs you didn't list who've done so too. But there are so many people who were our e-friends during those years who have not posted a single post since 2008-2009, I wonder if they moved on in life and legitimately don't remember NG, or what.

The pages here are getting shorter and shorter. I usually think about checking out what's new on the flash forum a bunch of times every year, and this time the reg lounge hasn't even advanced 5 pages since my last visit. So I guess that at this rate, the concentration of old regs coming back to reminisce can only increase, with the pace of the reg lounge slowing down.

But it doesn't feel like there is much to say to each when we do it, though. We all have our memories from the "04-07" times (and some of the really old farts probably have theirs from 01-04), but it's all kinda faded away. The posts are still on newgrounds, but everything is so saturated. Some of the memorable threads can still be found, but they're full of broken links (imageshack lol). I think the only thing that would bring anything back would be if we all woke up like in one of those maze horror movies, "oh shit, you're liam? and you're fwe?" lol. hah, and I almost forgot about gust.

I think it would be interesting to get to know one of you guys from scratch again and see how everything has evolved.

Well, anyway, what have all you guys been up to? Old reg, or not (i guess there's no such thing as "new regs" anymore since no one here joined after 2011!). Is anyone making games? What about flash games? Last I heard, 4ur was in the process of making a PC version of concerned joe, and Glaiel was experimenting with some games too. What's the latest flash game anyone here has made? What's everybody doing now?

I find it amazing/amusing I met you in paris. Theres unlikely people I've run into but you rank up there. Its good to see old regs pass by even if it isn't creating some sort of new golden age. I think for the most part everyones grown and have their careers and lives to manage and that sort of thing tends to be more time consuming the older you get I've noticed.

As for me, I haven't made much in the last two years. I have stuff I kick around, I just rarely have time to do it. I'm sorta back now. For the last year and a half I was transitioning towards a new direction in my career, something more design oriented as opposed to flash or animation. I'm quite enjoying it. I figure I'll stay at my gig for two years. Have 15 years of experience under my belt and move to new york and go after a more creative director role.

Its nice to see new users around here on ng. Feels things are coming together again. Granted it may never be what it was back in the golden age but that's okay.

Omar passed the Joe torch on and came to college in the US.

I'm working on a game for steam greenlight, though when I started I thought it was just another flash game. I'm using haxe, so it wasn't a problem either way. I had a lot of concerns about this, still do, but I talked with Tom and he gave me some advice. I see steam as for the high rollers, and I only have a handful of decent flash games. The artist is going out getting commissions and about to start marketing or something, and I'm sitting here trying to figure out how to detect a collision with a corner in this physics engine. Crossing my fingers.

I want to blog more, but I'm a graduating senior this semester, so I don't have a whole lot of free time between projects and homework.

Haven't made a flash game in a while, don't think I will again (except for maybe game jam stuff, or the occasional joke game)

Have just been working on Bombernauts lately (and some various other things too early to show)
It's getting pretty close. We're gonna do steam early access for it "soon", it won't stay in for too long since its mostly done but since it's the first online multiplayer I've done I just want to make sure I iron out all the net bugs and balance issues before calling it "released", and its a chance to put some community ideas into it.

Here's some little gifs of what i've been working on for it

http://bombernauts.com/minivid.php?v=fire
http://bombernauts.com/minivid.php?v=rockets
http://bombernauts.com/minivid.php?v=newbat2
http://bombernauts.com/minivid.php?v=bumpers

I wish I had some multiplayer gifs of it... gonna get a new trailer made right after pax east is over should show the game better

Just so you know, Wales is a country, and wasn't "named" by the UK. It is just part of the UK. So, being from England, a different country, we take no responsibility for the naming of Wales :)

Bell End is a favourite of mine, big up Stourbridge.

I recently found out that Canadians (and probably Americans) pronounce Worcester as "War-chester" and had no idea what I was saying when I said it in my Black Country accent. Saft, the lot of ya.

Either that or "Wur-chester", pretty much. Most Canadians don't even pronounce "poutine" correctly and we invented it (most people, including non-Canadians, say "poo-teen"). At least we know how to pronounce "ask", unlike many 'Murricans. :)

Fuck me, any time I try to play any real game my computer just shuts down :/
Like, I'll open it or I'll get to a bit that requires a lot of GPU power and it'll just turn off completely. Just boom, all of a sudden gone.
Temps are fine at 50C.

Feeling like a 500-watt PSU somehow isn't cutting it.

I want to maybe go for the HX850, though I might just go full-crazy and grab the EVGA SuperNOVA
That's the Hail Mary approach for $60 ($40 most places) more.

Or it could be something else, but I have no effing clue what.
Either way, I'm limited to fucking Minecraft for now. Woo.

(Also I like that modded Minecraft can bring a GTX 980 to its knees, I get a solid 40 FPS most of the time with 250-ish mods)

According to this 500W is the bare minimum required, so it's probably the combination fo the GPU, CPU, and SDDs and/or HDDs that is causing that to happen.

Damn, that's probably it. I wonder if going for the 1000-watt wouldn't be a bad idea since I was planning on buying another 980 sometime in the future.
