How was GDC for people who went? I'd love to hear a description from actual people I know
It was actually a really..overwhelming experience. I think I've met more people in 4 days than I have during my whole life. It was very exhausting, but I feel it was very much worth it. Once I recovered a bit, I found it be a very awesome experience.
The most surreal part was seeing all those people I've known for years as merely usernames on a screen, in real life. And to actually meet people in real life who played the flash version of Concerned Joe.
I'll be writing up a more in-depth post about GDC and the whole experience soon either on my newspost or on the concerned joe blog, or both.
None of those gamespot, IGN, kotaku or big press sites ever came down to GDC Play, which was kind of disappointing, but we did get some attention:

And these guys are making a movie about indie games, and they filmed us for a bit.
We were recording people playing Joe with a webcam, so we'll have a timelapse soon-ish as well.
Also, how in the hell is it possible that like 3 years ago I could come on here with a practically non-existant skill level and find people to work with and yet now that I can actually code fairly well finding someone on any site ever is simply impossible? I'm pretty sure I have a better chance of winning the damn lottery.
I only vent so much here because nobody I know outside of this thread would get it
I don't understand that either. Has PMing random artists not worked out for you? Or looking for threads where the artist is looking for a programmer. I don't think I've ever made a thread asking for an artist in my life, I've always worked on someone else's project until we formed a partnership.
