ive played the drums for about 5 years now, and ive started learning to play the guitar a month ago, according to one of my friends who plays guitar and my guitar teacher at school, im doing extremely well for someone who has played the instrument for such a short time with only about 2 hours of teaching alltogether

RE: multi instrumental
I play the piano, bass, gazoo, harmonica, bongos, and the ocarina of time (only in ocarina of time though)

RE: My game in 3 hours
The way I coded the chain I couldn't have a background or it would overlap the chain. I'm looking into fixing that up, cuz I had some cool torch effects ready to use and a nice background. I want to make a sequal with better graphics and some more obstacles, but for today I'm making a pacman christmas game. Should I call it "Candy-Man" or "Gift-Man". Which one sounds better? And at that the dots will be candy canes, and the fruitmwill be gifts and the ghosts will be snowmen and Pac-Man will be either Santa or an elf.

Arrgh.. so frustrated.

Just had to go up to the pizza shop to get dinner, took the dog with me, but the dogs so fat it wont run, and I needed to get there quick. Got to the pizza shop, and stood outside, then the girl in there was staring at me and grinning, so I stepped in and realised I knew her. And, for some reason said "Is your name Tegen?" in such a dumb way, still worrying about what the dogs doing (trying to get at the pizzas). So finally got the pizzas after some Kaffufel:

Me : Uh, yeah keep the change
Her : what?
Me : Yeah just keep the 50 p and give it me whenever I see you
Her : ok *hands me 50p*
Me : ...

All the time trying to control the dog

Rush home to give the pizzas to my sis, which lazy bitch is lying in bed..

ah fuckit im so angry cant be bothered to type rest. Gunna go punch a cat or something.

Dec. 20

A couple days ago I checked back on the rules for the AG Christmas Contest and it said the due date was Dec. 20. Thats when I realized that I'm only 1/2 done with the game art for my game! Then I realized that I could finish in time, but unfortunatly DarkMana(My AS partner) decided to just dissapear. I hope he turns up soon, cause he has two days to code just about the whole thing.

Sledder and the ePirates

Not trying to whore my game, but I figured I would say some site has already taken it. I'm not mad or anything since they still left all the AG and DingoEatingFuzz stuff in there, but I must say, taking it within 24 hours of its eBirth seems like an awfully quick steal.

Play Sledder at boostbum, a site I had never heard of

Mochibot ftw :D

RE: Stealing of Flash Content

It happens all the time. We've had this discussion in the Flash forum about 20 times since I first came here, and what it basically comes down to is a three e-page arguement between those who like to distribute content to grab links to their sites, and those who prefer that people find their site in order to play the game, thus getting traffic that way. It then winds up with a few new guys yelling and screaming about popular Flash titles on Newgrounds getting stolen onto other sites to cause a bit of uproar, then it dies down and the process is restarted in about 3-4 weeks.

As an internet content publisher, you are going to run into people stealing content to drive banner revenue. It's really hard to keep full control over your work, and laws on copyright do not apply everywhere in the world. So I guess my advice is this. If you're going to be a fantastic developer (which DingoEatingFuzz is), you'll end up with your stuff stolen, whether you like it or not. It's part of being a Flash developer.

Stealing Stuff
I personally don't mind too much about stealing. I get a fair anmount of people visiting my site anyway (though I can't see why, as there's nothing to do that you can't do on NG :P), and I'm happy with that. I guess once you've done a good amount of games you might to want your games to be only on your site, so that there's a reason to go to your site instead of some other game site, but then you can just add a anti-steal script in ^^. Most sites don't decompile your games anyway.

Facial Hair

I haven't shaved in a while. Its been a little over a week I think. Its starting to get itchy. I'm trying to look like I haven't had time to shave and that I haven't slept much so when I have my final critique for the year I might get sympathy from my professors. Lol.

Lol...I only started shaving when I was 14, I had to do it like every 2 weeks at first, it was completely worthless, lol. I assume you don't have much to shave. But who knows. In the next few days my fuzz will become a very light beard.

RE: Shaving...
I hit puberty late. I started shaving at sixteen.

I think this also means my metabolism will break down later... Whoo! More unhealthy living for me!

I shave about once a month, because hair grows back faster if you cut it and I'm too lazy to change my daily routine from lie-in-shower-coffee-work.

Anyhow. I could really do with looking older than I look at times. It's annoying having to give ID to get 18 rated games and movies, so the beard is staying for now.

New Topic: Hogfather
Anyone with Sky One in the UK catch the first half of it today? Despite having bought a tonne of Discworld books recently I haven't got around to reading Hogfather (although I've weathered my way through Mort, Soul Music and the entire Sam Vimes series so the characters aren't too unfamiliar to me) so I have no idea how close to the book they kept.

The special effects and casting seem just about perfect for the huge budget they spent on it. And its nice to see some Pratchett work being made into pictures again.

Oooh... a Flash version of "Guards" Guards!" would rock...

Nah I wanted to though. I usually go up me dads on Sundays to watch Lost, but didn't today. Who was it playing the Hogfather.. was it Ray Winstone??

Also didn't they do another, it wasn't Prattchett I think it was a Charles Dicken's one, or something. Anyway it was done this time last year andI believe it had Winstone in..

I've read about half of Truckers, and mort. I have Pyramids too but haven't read it. I generally read half a book and give up for one reason or another, usually because it cuts out on wank time. 'Mortal Engines' was a cool book that I gave up on half way...

As a friend of mine keeps assuring me, Old Discworld books are nothing like New Discworld Books. Pratchett's work gets better as he goes on. So whilst "Thud!" is an excellent little piece of detective fiction ripping both the Da Vinci Code and racial tension stereotypes apart, "The Colour of Magic" is a lame duck in comparison.

"Truckers", "Diggers" and "Wings" are still an excellent series of books, and well worth cutting into your donation to Kleenex for. Even though they're kids books

I used to read lots of Pratchett when I was younger, including the Hogfather. Although, as I was only 9 when I read Hogfather, I can't actually rememberthe original book!

Pratchett
I'm a big pratchett fan but I missed it tonight as I didnt realise it was on. I foolishly read the hogfather as my first of his which meant I ddidnt really get it and was confused all the way through. I'd like to re-read it actually. They made a TV adaptation of johnny and the bomb and the beginning of this year and it was really good.
I dont think pratchett books generally convert very well to visual mediums because so much of the humour is not dialogue so it is lost.
Tonight I watched Driving Lessons with Rupert Grint (Ron from Harry Potter series) and I thought it was pretty good.

Re: Hogfather / UK Talk

At 12/17/06 06:12 PM, Luis wrote: I feel left out.

I'll try to send you some Pratchett books as a late XMas present. They're a bit hard to get your head around at the best of times, and a lot of the humour ends up either being pop-culture references twisted to Fantasy settings (at time of writing... Soul Music for example is impossible to read if you don't have some understanding of rock history) or especially British.

Or it all gets put in the footnotes. Pratchett's the only fantasy writer I know to make footnotes a page long for each asterisk in his work.

But for those that saw Hogfather, that bit where Susan did 'the voice' intimidating the monster and got the skull superimposed over the right side of her face was perfectly done. So were Death's eyes. Weren't they? ^_^

Pratchett's Work is a bit difficult to turn into screen plays. Which confused me when they chose Hogfather, necause although the Christmas connection's obvious, Death stories bend the laws of reality and travel through four dimensions every other paragraph. There'd be more luck trying to add Octarine to the screen. Still, I think if I kept motivation up I could get Guards Guards done as a Flash piece*...

What's so hard to draw about a dragon and the largest city on the Disc anyway?...

Anyhow. The second half of it's on tommorow at 8pm GMT on Sky One for those that missed the first half. Worrying was the fact they put most of what seemed to be the remainder of the plot on the "Next Time..." segment at the end of the first half. It's removed all sense of suspense over it... :(

*Assuming, of course, I actually DO some Flash work. When's that Reg Collab starting?

I live here and I don't know. Our country's got about as many dialects as North America crammed into the space of New York State so it could mean anything.

I live in the part of the UK where our language is the one broadcasted over the news. The standardised South East Queens English. Which makes me less prone to speak in Cockney rhyming slang, or to throw Gaelic into the mix. I still spell colour with a U though.

Besides. We don't ask you in America to speak like hicks or like rappers.

Now for a spot of tea before some well earned kip. What what.

Slang isn't about hicks or ghetto thugs. Sadly, much of the better known America slang comes from the popular idea that we should all want to be black and poor. I can't even think of much slang I might use but I'm sure if I had a sit down with a Brit on some occasionation I could throw down some words and expressions that they couldn't make heads or tails of. Hell, I remember confusing the hell out of the swish foreign exchange girl a few years back.

British Comedy VS American comdey

At 12/17/06 07:14 PM, ShirtTurtle wrote: Its so much funnier, and so much smarter.
What do you think?

I dunno. Trey Parker and Matt Stone's work is far more pallatable to me than Monty Python is. Whilst a lot of America's sitcoms are very easy to predict and recycle jokes, stuff like South Park and the Daily Show actually manage to give me hope that America *is* a place that could develop some culture.

Part of an important step of developing cultural identity is being able to laugh at yourself.

The problem is that we Brits don't laugh at ourselves as much as we used to. We laugh at the situations we put ourselves in, but we don't poke fun at just what being British is. We had Python and Bean and even Red Dwarf (because what's funnier than a Scouser in charge of a space ship larger than the moon, who only really wants a curry and a good lager and to get back to Earth to have a garden in Fuji?), now we have the Office. The Office is obviously brilliant (not seen it personally), but it's too easily translatable to another shore.

We need a chavvy version of the Young Ones (done well) and a new Blackadder series.
