You know what I hate? When you're running a collab and you give people specific, step-by-step instructions on how to set up their parts and sounds and they still don't follow them.

With the Game Trailer Collab, that happened, and nobody formatted their sounds correctly and now we have these annoying sound glitches that are near impossible to fix without screwing something else up. Everyone named their symbols as "fdsafdsafdasdf;23" or "Symbol 1".

Well shit. Figured there was an easier way to it rather then extending. I don't think i realized i could called the GLOBALS class like that. Works for me though. : )

That happens a lot in collabs

For the Fab Collab I recoded Magical-Zorse's
entire game from AS2 to AS3, aha.
And Micha-... uh, Hamalo's preloader, too I think.

You just kinda have to expect people to not do
what you ask them to when you do a collab.
It's annoying, but inevitable.

My first post in a while, wooah. ;)

In fairness to Farza and Archon...that collab has been through countless thread deletions. Is anyone really surprised that a lot of the OP info slipped through the cracks? I know it doesn't make anything easier, but it does explain some things.

Oh this is a TOTAL jab at me

if gonzossm doesnt wise up he can hit the damn road. Its my game and to be honest i cant afford to be held back by some eccentric twat , no matter how popular he is.

Or him too, but Mike you WERE kinda picky with a few really bad ideas :/ I wasn't OPPOSED to the 10 minute cutscenes, its what you wanted the cutscenes to include that i thought were completely unnecessary. Rather than spend however long trying to to convey (for example), "the BN's secret past that has no real part of the story", I would rather have seen a cutscene that actually explained the current story and why its important the barbarian ninja goes on his quest.

ANYWAYS, thats my 2 cents...just throwin that out there :P

I do ask myself that question regularly , ive been set back months trying to find a decent artist , its a matter of time really , i dont want BN to take over my life for all of 2010 so i need to do it fast , if gonzossm doesnt wise up he can hit the damn road. Its my game and to be honest i cant afford to be held back by some eccentric twat , no matter how popular he is.

Just remember, the moment you include any sort of cutscene, the player automatically feels detached from the character - the character takes on its own personality in the cutscene as opposed to the player controlling the events.

It may be what you want, but I think it'd be interesting if you try moving the story along within the gameplay, rather than bringing all the properties of cinema into the game world...

the events are merely fictional, written, directed, and acted out by all who create them

If this is true then that game would fail hard.

Cliches. :(

I reckon cutscenes only really work in RPGs or first-person shooters.
RPGs because they're telling someone else's story anyway and FPSs because you can use a first-person viewpoint to make poeple feel involved in the cutscene.

GANAERGANERGN COMPUTERS SUCK

spent the last 9 hours, and 4 hours last night trying to figure out what was wrong with a new build for a friend.

graphical artifacts, graphical driver crashing etc, sporadicaly, sometimes not happening for 20 minutes, sometimes as soon as the computer turns on. So obviously, must be the graphics card right? Well not exactly, the graphics card works just fine in the computer i'm on now (testing it overnight) aswell as the graphics card from this computer also not working in the new build.

So, what else could it be? Could it be the RAM? Nope, memtest running for over an hour gives 0 errors. Perhaps some weird glitching caused by a non-fully functioning hard drive where drivers are stored etc? Nope, also no errors on a prolonged test.

So. hmmm, perhaps the power supply is faulty and not supplying the mobo with enough juice to power the graphics card (no direct input needed). But nope, swapping out with another power supply the same issues occur.

What's left? The mobo, is anyone sure? Nope, tech guy is as confused as I am but agrees it is the most likely culprit. Since there's only one pci-e 16 slot on this mobo i can't test either graphics card in a new slot to see if the slot is faulty or something.

What's worse? I'm back off to london on sunday so can't really wait for replacements to arrive etc. So once i definately know what's wrong I can only send it back for a refund, whilst shopping for a replacement locally.

I reposted the information in each thread, and it's common sense to read the entire OP if you're going to join a collab.

And for the most part the thread recreations were necessary. Farza (or windowskiller at the time) was completely unorganized and I didn't want to work the way he set it up when I "took over".

Then the thread got deleted by a disgruntled mod and we had to restart it again.

But the point is, the information was all there and it is the artists' duty to follow instructions.

I'm so used to using classes that when I am coding in the timeline, I press CTRL+S after any minor changes I make to the code.

It gets annoying because sometimes I am experimenting with deleting or adding a possibly problematic feature, but then I hit save and I can't undo it by simply closing the file and reopening it.

Agreed. That was brilliant. I wish US sports coverage had the degree of levity that UK sportscaster have. Sports coverage here is like watching CNN talk about the Israel/Palestine conflict. Why ssssooooo sssssseriousssssss? :)

We have more than 2. It's just that the rest don't have enough money to brainwash enough people to vote for them.

I think our system is kind of a joke. It seems like the parties and the media split issues down the middle just for fucks sake to continue the political charade. I understand there are a lot of issues that don't come down to science, or fact, but even when they do news stations and our own representatives invent a controversy and distort the truth.

And tell me corporations don't control legislation. Not really democracy.
