What made this terse Joke for me was that they replaced all pronouns (I think) with the word Kevin Bacon. It's hilarious when you see it around the BBS.

Haha, Fool's within fools, epic.
I changed my aura to Kevin Bacon, sorry fab people
Hey, don't you just hate those people who only come back to the BBS when they've got something to plug?
On a completely unrelated note, look what I just wasted eleven and a half consecutive hours on!

Looks great, must take a great deal of patience animating the old-fashioned way.

It went really well with the sound despite what you said about not letting it control the animation's timing :p
I always get depressed when I see cool bit of extended animation, since I've never got the patience to animate anything longer than a walk cycle :(

Thanks, it does indeed. It's hard to work on it a couple hours over the course of a few days because your focus is lost and you get out of the groove. Surprisingly I do best while I kill myself working on it in 12 hour chunks of time.

True, but compared to others who actually used representative objects of the sounds to make the sounds (rubber duck to squeak, rollercoaster with people on it), this was pretty vague and not AS exact. But I see what you mean!

It does take a lot of patience but it's worth it in the end. A lot of people used cycles on this project but I've already done enough walk and run cycles, I wanted to try something crazier and more experimental that I haven't done before. It's easy to get excited when you don't have too much pressure on yourself, wondering if your cycle will turn out as well as your last one.
In this case, I had never done anything like this before, so it is sooo worth it capturing and watching frames every 60 or so I draw.
I can see why people don't listen to music when they animate (or at least the old school people) because you really have to clear your mind to be able to think about how it will all be planned out with the timing according to exposure sheets.

I took a look earlier; it's so awesome.
I don't have these 'Facebook' or 'Twitter' things, but I wouldn't mind getting one for a game like this.
I see that Jon has finally managed to pull off good artwork. Or did you fire him and are doing the new graphics yourself?

Loool I saw your post on facebook earlier, thats what starogre was telling me about earlier :P
Looks good, i really think the rebranding was a good step.. i mean the older version of closure was REALLY poorly coded, not to mention the art was MUCH too clean...all in all, im really happy you made this descision ^_^
Happy March 2nd :)

several questions... are you majoring or minoring in animation, and did you have to go to an art school to take this class?

So I've been working on a small framework for a couple of weeks now, and Ive read a lot about blitting recently.
I'm thinking of incorporating that but I'm not sure as I've also read it has its a few cons.
Does anyone have experience with blitting ?
Right now I'm just using a seperate bitmap for every object which is still a massive increase in performance compared to movie clips but blitting would be even better.%u2248%u2248%u2248
The boxhead guy gave a speech at FGS about blitting and performance. That's partially the reason he can get hundreds of zombies on the screen at once without any lag. He also talked about using a tile-based engine to make AI decisions fast.

i am majoring in animation at University of Maryland Baltimore County which is just an honors state college (not an art school) that has an animation track in their Visual Arts degree program. The class was expected to use the light tables in the lab to draw the images, and then film the frames on a camera stand there. As long as a school has an art program with animation it should be pretty nice. It's mainly what you do with it.
I've been animating though since I was your age so most of my classes have pretty much just been good practice time and self exploration opportunities rather than learning a lot from professors. I learn some stuff, but for the most part, it's art which you can learn on your own, as opposed to biology where you pretty much have to take vigorous notes and heavily depend on classes and text books to learn from instead of just practice.
