i smoke sometimes at parties or whatever but I stopped.. its horrible.. but shes been smoking since she was 11.. :/ so it would be great if she didnt get cancer.

Someone might remember that I while back found out that my game Battle Tank didn't work well with the new versions of Flash Player (after the first mission the whole screen starts flashing like crazy). Well, I decided to dive into my old and very messy AS2 code and try to find a fix.

At the time of the glitch loads of runtime errors shows up, saying something about a DisplayObject being to big to be drawn. I tried doing this trace:

Enormous and negative width, lolwut?

There is no possible way that my code does that without the help of some kind of glitch, and what's possibly just as weird is that I get different outputs every time: the values are not even remotely the same.

Now, this game don't have many plays a day anymore, but it feels kinda sad that something that I once put down so many hours on is now useless. I am not so sure what I would need to do to fix it, perhaps my best bet is to hope that some future version of Flash Player can handle it?

When I was 11 I smoked for a few days, stupidest habit ever. I remember meeting an 8 year old who smoked, that was some fucked up shit.

I smoked for a good solid 13 years. It's a terrible habit. Half of those 13 years were spent "pretending to quit", so adman, even though she lied to you (which sucks), don't judge her too harshly. Addiction blows. It makes you do all sorts of stupid shit. If it's any help, I quit with the transdermal patch. It does work, but if you're heart is not in it, just continue smoking, and don't waste your time. You've got to really want to put the foolishness behind you. It took me three attempts to really become clear on that concept. :D

I finally solved my Battle Tank issue, I can't believe I've never even thought about using the debug function in Flash before. Now I used it for the first time, and it didn't take very long until I found the line where the dimensions got fucked up: it was in the vCam. Geez..

And before anyone says anything: I don't use the vCam in games anymore, the majority of that game was made over two years ago :P

Oh, and kids, don't do the same mistake as I did: Learn to use the debugger ASAP!

well if people smoke, that is their own choice. I just don't like it when people smoke around me, for reasons I'll never understand, I had to use an inhaler as a kid. I didn't have breathing problems, though I did wheeze sometimes... allergies. Going through that made me very frightened of second hand smoke.

I believe the doctor said I had asmah. Though it turns out I didn't have it, or just didn't have it bad enough to be permanent

I also found out yesterday that I can do Penguinz 2 with LongAnimals as my final year project at Uni. We HAVE to collaborate on 3 different projects in our final, being project manager on one of them.

This is fucking amazing news for me, I wasnt sure where I was gonna fit it in around uni work as its a pretty huge game, but this means ill be working on it for twice the reward. I have a lot of the enemies drawn down in my sketchpad already and pretty much every detail of the game planned, apart from the cutscene scripts.

So, come September when Uni starts in starts I can start the development already running and have just under a year to complete the game. This will without a doubt be the best thing ive ever made :)

Indeed. Though I appreciate their heavy use of words with French origins (let's face it...telling someone to go flush themselves down a toilet, sounds good in Français), how the word 'sensual' didn't make the list is a bit baffling. I mean... is 'bucolic' more beautiful than 'sensual'? I think not.
