I thought about how that would be a cool thing to do, well... if one person did it, but then it'd be kind of lame to be funding that asshat. I think a new one should be bought, or at least not his. I would put in a dollar, maybe 5-10 if we can find a good person, and someone trustworthy handles the money.

um, and double post >_>

Don't pay him for something he's figuratively stole from another user.

i agree, if we're spending our own money (i'll throw down some if this comes to fruition) it should be on a new-bonafied-not-pre-licked bamboo that doesn't line his pockets.

Eh, I agree with the others, a new shiny tablet is better than funding his schemes. I'd totally fund part of it, but because I don't have any money, I'll just settle for supporting this idea.

I guess he cares about money more than the warm fuzzy feeling of receiving something. :/

Damn recession...

This.

Does amazon let you gift stuff from multiple people?

Response to The Flash 'Reg' Lounge 2009-02-04 02:23:08

I'd be down to throw some money in as well. What that guy's doing, while he can because it's his tablet, is very dick-ish. Like you guys have said, it'd be nice to give a shiny new tablet to someone who will actually get some use out of it and appreciate it (not just for it's monetary value).

How would we go about it though? Is there something that could be used to pool the money, or would it all be channeled through a single person? Or perhaps if multiple people can gift on Amazon, that works too.

Response to The Flash 'Reg' Lounge 2009-02-04 03:04:16

Somewhere along the lines it would need to be channeled through someone. I want to avoid using paypal though if we do this because (i believe) paypal also takes a fee per transaction, which would add up pretty fast on a lot of $1 contributions.

Unless, of course, that's the only way to do this thing. Although muti-gifting on amazon would be nice.

Response to The Flash 'Reg' Lounge 2009-02-04 05:32:08

I wouldn't mind donating a few dollars to this cause. Paypal would be the easiest for me, but if we have to pay a fee it would be kinda useless. I can also make a direct bank transfer.

BBS Signature

Response to The Flash 'Reg' Lounge 2009-02-04 07:27:37

Yeah i would easily donate a few quid! I guess its down to the people who are donating to choose someone they think worthy!

it IS frusterating but the key is to not get frusterated by it because they/he will have won. If he wants to sell his tablet so badly meh sell it. Newgrounds has been backstabbed many times before and Tom is well aware of users who do it. The more mature way of handling it is to just ignore it or not be bothered by it. It kinda reminds me of middle school where you want to be cool around the bad kids so you go and do things out of character to show em you can be bad/cool to... kinda liek that part in the Butterfly Effect where they blow up that mailbox

why make such a big deal out of it?

first of all, have you considered the fact he's joking? it wouldn't be a very funny joke but still possible. and even if he's not, it's just like 90 bucks or something. he won it, so what do you care?

also lol at luis's comment on his userpage

I dont think a load of users getting together to buy another tablet for someone whos actually going to use it is reliating in a negative way though... I know its just an idea at the moment but I think it would be a great message to the community.

About this possible tablet give-away: Didn't Tom say that he still had deserving artists on his list that didn't get a tablet? I definitely think we should choose one of those in case this happens (if it does I'm on board with contributing a few bucks by the way).

nobody is applauded for being mature and being indifferent...
but this isn't about getting applauds either. it'd just be something cool to have a bunch of devoted nger's help somebody out who didn't get a good chance for whatever reason. anythin' to help the newgrounds community. but this is all puffery if we can't figure out who should receive it....

Ok but if their whole aim is to annoy newgrounds they will realize what you guys are trying to do and they will purposely outbid you so that it becomes unfeesible.

Educated to animate.

hey, i'm a grade 11 highschool kid lookingto be in the right courses so that i can have a good animation resume for after i graduate.
other than the obvious need of a artwork demo, what classes should i be in?
right now i'm taking
physics 11 - 3d animation
and drafting and design 11 - only 3d working program in my school

i haven't taken any official art courses but i have talent, i think.
what should i do?

Since we already see the world in three dimensions, I started wearing 3-D glasses around so that I could see things in 6-D... The sixth dimension is blurry and discolored.

outbid? i'm not contributing to buy it from HIM. a new one. the point of the whole endeavor is that 100..50.. tablets(how many were there?).. anyway 1 person received something that, by merit and enthusiasm alone, should have gone to someone else. and i'd like to support a fund to get someone a new tablet who missed out and could properly use it.

hell, it could be a joke, but it sure is a humourless one. if the whole point is to rile us up, hell! some worthy person gets a tablet and we all get to feel warm and fuzzy inside. no harm done.

Kongregate - they've been teasing me on purpose; I just know it. $24.50, $24.58, $24.70 etc. :(

Also, manually charting rhythm games sucks. I haven't been able to find any effective way of streamlining the task and i'm not even going to bother even approaching AS3 - for now anyway.

That is all.

It's not, he said that he wasn't multiple times. This person truly is a dick.

Now we got to stop saying "Lets find someone" and actually post about a few people, OR ELSE just change the topic. Personally I don't actually know who did and didn't get a tablet and lately i've been only really forum-ing instead of portal-ing so i'm a little out of who's super mouse-talented atm.... does anybody have actual suggestions for candidates?

Also.. is this going to devolve into us paying for other peoples tablets whenever something happens? Cuz this time i'm fine with chipping in a few bucks but i don't have lots of money.. like at all..

i owe my dad 400$...

Rhythm Games

Mess with computeSpectrum(). It's only in AS3, but it's pretty fucking awesome. The only thing thats annoying is that it only gives off byte arrays of the current time, so you can't know when a beat is going to come, just that it already has happened. You can make some pretty cool displays with it, if not a rhythm game.

API game

I made a little all-code game a while ago, uploaded it to DA, then forgot about it, then remembered it today. Anyone see any point of continuing it, or just let it die in peace?

Yeah, that's the main problem with my game, i can get a good visualization for the speed and rythm of any mp3, but it's impossible to get it right. The only way i've thought of is my playing the mp3 you want at a low, barely audible volume, then multiply any values you get off it. Then play the full volume mp3 5 seconds later so the data from the quiet stream coincides with the actual music.

Here's an old demo if anyone wants a look.
