I remember jamrock, can you imagine if that guy became a mod :O.

CS4

I think CS4 will be the best version yet, lots of new helpful features, one being able to acces local files, which means i don't have to give up on my game :D. Yay. 3D is also great, and the animation stuff looks handy. What are peoples views?

guys what do u think about this idea

we should have a thread where everyone can post his game sprites like free .fla's of one of their game characters running/jumping etc, and coders could post stuff like basic platformer codes and space shooters.

why? countless time i have stopped working on flashes because of the lack of motivation resulting from the lack of graphics I have. As a coder I just can't be arsed to spend a couple of hours animating stuff that I won't be using anyway. Many artists are lazy and won't feed the coders' graphic needs (not referring to you luis <33) which results in unfinished projects. If we have opensource stuff and i wanted to, say, make a game where you got a grappling hook and you jump around; but i dont want to use my stickmen or google sprites, i could just use someone's donated characters as placeholders to see if the game idea could work.

you could contribute animations or codes from your old unfinished games that you don't use anymore. I'm sure it would help a ton of people. I cannot count the number of times that I wanted to decompile castle crashing the beard to use the knight sprites.

this is not for people to use in finished games btw, it's just to have decent placeholders to help people keep motivated.

Damn post whore :P. I like the idea though, it would be a good exchange of ideas. You could perhaps elaborate on it, people post a few sprites, bgs etc, then if the coder likes it, or vice versa, they work together. The hardest part of some games is getting the art right, having a whole variety of code/art to choose from would be great.

yea someone should definitely make a thread for artists looking for coders and vice versa, where you can present yourself and show samples of your work. it would make this all a lot easier. but what i meant was just for some people to contribute sprites to be used as placeholders. for example i got this project im starting now and i have all these ideas how to code the different stuff but as soon as i open up flash and stare at my squares and circles which are meant to be placeholders for the real graphic i just give up. we all know that sprites on google are shit, so maybe we could have opensource sprites for this type of people (coders especially)

Routine

My 'waiting for accommodation at Uni to open up three weeks after every other place in the entire country' routine is pretty depressing :/

09:00 - 10:00 Wake up

11:00 - 13:00 Get out of bed

13:00 - 17:00 Spend most of the day procrastinating from finishing an animation and putting off the inevitable half hour of exercise I've tasked myself with to avoid going into complete atrophy. Probably have a shower. Kind of want to straighten hair to keep it from flying around everywhere but decide that it's not worth the time investment.

17:00 - 19:00 The annoying couple of hours before I can start to think about getting food. Spend most time half-heartedly considering getting in touch with mates at uni at some point during the next week, and deciding if I'm bored enough to arrange something with the three or four guys still living at home at this point. Instead end up working lazily through the pre-emptive booklet we got send. Get through half a page in just over two hours.

20:00 - 03:00 Spend the remainder of the night alternating between watching Dave, flash stuff and wondering why I'm not out and drunk by this time. Because of silly insomnia, probably spend several hours playing old PS1 games before my body realises it shouldn't be awake.

I've got a whole 'nother week of this crap :s I wish I'd had the forward planning to get a real job while I had the chance.

Also, this whole 'lay out your routine' thing is really egoistical. I feel like tutting myself for writing it out. At least nobody's actually going to read it :s

Political Correctness on TV (couldn't think of a better title, sorry)

So apparently there's this new chain of pizza restaurants in Holland, and they've started a pretty funny ad campaign:
- Ad 1
- Ad 2
- Ad 3
When the ads were first released I think there were a couple of complaints (only creating extra buzz for the restaurants), but nothing serious as they are still being aired. I think they're great, and they probably appeal to the kind of public the restaurants are targeting at.

So now for the million dollar question: Would this be allowed to air in the country you live in?

lmao for some reason everyone started posting them after i just wrote a 4 line daily routine exlpaining why i didn't have time for NG. i don't give a shit about ur days, u can keep it to urself (if that makes me sound any less egoistical)

anyway eddy it seems like you got a lot of time on your hands. how are things going along for you? there was a period where you submitted lots of flashes but i haven't heard anything from you since your last game. do you have any projects atm?

Yeah, I'm alternating between three seperate projects at the moment :/ There's a short animation, an epic game and a short-but-still-epic platformer thingy. I've got to a stage in all three of them where for some reason I start playing WoW whenever I get a chance to actually do some Flash :s

I need an epic flying mount!
