K so i just watched one of those videos, and the dude was playing Zelda but the controls seemed laggy. For something as gimmicky as this concept i think its key for it to swing exactly when you swing and it just felt like it was a split second or two late to react. I can forsee that being frusterating for someone whos played the game and felt like they mastered it enough to know all the movements but be forever held back by a 1 second delay in everything.
Well thats my opinion. I find it too gimmicky.

I think the best case study is what you said a few pages ago, imagine trying to play splinter cell while hopping about your room.. what's the point.
I don't wanna argue that point btw, because it's irritating discussing video games.
How was everyones day?

Awesome!
I got my html and photoshop assignments back today. Each were worth 20% of my module and since I got full marks in both of them it means I've already passed that module! Hurray for 40% pass marks!
i have a 2 hour bus delay cuz it was foggy out even though i dont take the bus

I'm also doing a photoshop assignment. The theme is metamophosis so it's quite simple, it's our first photoshop assignment, so I have basically gotta show off that I can use the various tools and comment on them. Only problem is I left it all till Friday, but no matter.
I have one done in college which I quite like, i've just done a quick one now, and I have this stupid one I was messing around with before which I may just hand in.
The bitch about it is that we have to take all the pictures ourselves (or create them in PS). And i'm using Fireworks.

Yeah, thats pretty much what we did. We were giving two base pictures whci we had to make into one then add a few filters some text etc. What course you doing btw?

It's a module for my uni course. I've passed that one now so I've only got 7 more to do now! Shouldn't be too hard though, I've already got 19% in my Maths module and thats the one I find hardest.
I have a computer class... it's programming in visual basic though, try it sometime, it really sucks :-/
I have an A+. Yay for the + grade!
I'm doing graphic design next year though, so... yeah. :3
Well, either that or C++...
all this computer stuff is making me sick
i have such high marks for the first term in school
(on a 100 point scale):
Honors Chemistry: 95
Honors Physics: 97
AP Calculus: 99
Gym: 98
Jazz Combo: 100
Wind Ensemble: 100
Early American Literature: 94
the way my school calculates GPAs, mine is over 100 lol. (AP classes get muliplied by 1.1 before averagin, honors get multiplied by 1.05)

i'm not that's why it's funny.
The only thing i was actually good at in gym was ultimate frisbee, cause i could catch it every time and am tall so I dont need to jump too much. I just stood in the endzone and waited for a teamate to throw it across the field.
Course all they grade you on is if you change for class or not.
Who here has ever heard of Digipen? That's where i want to go to college lols.
At 11/15/06 02:52 PM, Glaiel-Gamer wrote: The only thing i was actually good at in gym was ultimate frisbee
You got to play with frisbees!? When I was at school we had to do proper sports, like Rugby and Cricket.

Calculus, God i hate that. I thought it was over after high school but now i have that bullshit again in university. Seriously, just let an architect think out new concepts and design buildings and let civil engineers do that stuff...
Oh man I just got a Logitech G5 Gaming Mouse. It's absolutely amazing. 2000 DPI (instant-adjustable... you can adjust the DPI at any time with these little buttons, which makes for quick sensitivity changes in games and stuff)... so it's extremely accurate and stuff. It also has adjustable weight, so you can have it exactly the way you want it. It moves really smoothly, and it just makes using a computer so much more enjoyable.
BTW Glaiel, have fun at digipen. I guarantee you could get into any college you wanted, what with your nerdtacular grades and internet-fame you could show them (not to mention what got you there, all those amazing games), so I know you'll get into digipen.

TECHNICALLY Real-time interactive simulation
it makes it sound fancier than it actually is
Oh man I wanted to go to Digipen, but I don't have a nack for art and animation and I don't really enjoy programming, I just make flash games as a hobby... plus I don't think I would get a good job even with a degree from there so I'm gonna take the easy way out and get a BA in science and become a doctor of some sort. Unless something comes up...

When I get older I want to be involved in real-time interactive simulations, like modeling or concept art, maybe programming.
Mehmehmeh, I'm happy I'm still a kid :)
Digipen, eh? sounds really interesting. i'm gonna have to look into that sometime. i was considering going to an art institute, but i think the ones that have video game-related things aren't in Denver, so if i were to go to one, out-of-state tuition will probably cost me an arm, leg, and penis.

i'd rather not assume that i'll get into it.
I have a few back up colleges in case I don't. UMASS gives a schlorship to anyone who gets "advanced" on the MCAS< and i scored advanced on it.
Digipen seems fun though, I get to apply next year in the fall. I figure I'll get it all ready, then send it out as soon as they start accepting applications.
I need help ;_; can anybody tell me why in hell this isn't working?
var selectedArr:Array=new Array();
onEnterFrame=function()
{
for(i=0;i<selectedArr.length;i++)
{
trace(i);
var vx:Number=_xmouse-selectedArr[i]._x;
var vy:Number=_ymouse-selectedArr[i]._y;
var angle:Number=Math.atan2(vy,vx);
selectedArr[i]._rotation = int((angle*180/(Math.PI))+90);
}
I have no idea... if i trace selectedArr[i] it will give me the instance name i need. But whenever i try applying it to anything, it... just doesn't do anything. What's wrong? Thanks in advance. ;D
Also, good luck on applying for digipen Glaiel.
}
Nevermind, ol' Gust helped me figure it out. :D

Holy moly, really? I wanted to get into Umass @ Lowell if my 2 first choices didn't flow through, but I'm only a fresshie so I won't worry about it that much.
BTW, for anyone who cares, I just got my MCAS (it's like a... uber-standardized test for massachusetts) and I scored 2 points off of perfect in English... damn grammar multiple choice >_Gallo's Stuff. His name is Joe Gallo, we're good friends, and he makes short little movies.
And then I rant on about unrelated topics... whatever...
Anyone here have any tips on getting motivated for working on a flash? I really need to get motivated, and my inspiration seems to be failing me :-/
