Porting Flash Games onto a Console.

I was discussing something with one of my pals, and I was quite curious if anyone tried to port a Flash Game onto a console? I was kinda curious on how to do this since upcoming projects of mine and a few friends are going to be more epic than expected. I'm sure it's much more harder than it sounds.

So if anyone has any tips or ideas, throw em at me. I'm really curious on how to do this.

I'm pretty sure you can't just "port" a Flash app to a console. Two completly different worlds your working with. If you wanted to do that you can't. You would have to code it from scratch to work with the console. Kinda like programming for Windows. You have to make it for Windows and when you do it won't work outside Windows.

You know, reading reviews and comments about finished games or games being tested, there is always someone suggesting what should be in it. If it's any kind of platformer, people always say "Needs some power-ups and more/different enemies" or something of the like. Last year the game I released was pretty much somewhat of a defense game, and a lot of reviews said "Maybe add some power-ups or some upgrades like turrets".

I then realize that there are a hundred other defense games out there with upgradeable turrets. Maybe it's just hitting me now, but it's no wonder games get sponsored so easily. People want to play the same shit with a different paint job. People do make different or unique games, but I can see why most people would say "Fuck it" and go with someone that people want to play just so they can get some money.

Do people want more of the same, or is the whole reviewing public just uncreative?

Flash Reg Appreciation Songs

This is one really dumb idea I had just now, but I might as well share it for the lulz.

It's where you take a karaoke version of a song and change the lyrics to fit the endearing qualities and famous works of a Flash reg. Then you sing it, and animate the final song. Then we either pick a day to submit these more crappy, Flash-forum-infused classic hits, or take the choruses of all of them and string them together as a collab.

I don't have any tips for you, but I do know that Castle Crashers is made entirely in Flash before it is placed on the console version. I don't know how they do it, or what they use, but that it starts out completely with Flash is impressive enough as it is...

Fluids are fun

Adapted that thing i showcased a few pages back in flash with the thousands of particles with springs thingy to C++, then added gravity, and now i've added isosurface rendering, which means rather than just rendering particles, i generate a solid, non-overlapping shape that defines the general border of the particle set, here made to try and look like water.

:) To keep it stable with large spring forces to keep particles seperated enough under the pressure of particles above, i'm using 5 iterations on the physics pass per frame, and it still runs at around 40fps on my shitty little computer even with this realtime isosurface rendering which isn't exactly very fast.

That guy honestly pissed me off watching it as well. He points out the obvious at some points, but he's just ranting out a lost cause.
