Nothing at present, but that's not the issue. You guys are all saying, "Well, I don't see what good it does". This isn't about the now, it's about the future and what these changes mean with respect to what we'll be doing in the future that's important. Just because you can't throw a best guess as to why these name restrictions are being put into practice, doesn't make the reason for making the restrictions invalid...

Or in plain English, The programmers of NG are tinking with different web-based programming types that are easier to implement without hypens and shit.

The whole inactive users losing their name is a very good thing though. Good one on that guys.

You know, I can't change my name to 'Zenon'. Someone else already has that name.

Fuck, time to start thinking about usernames again...

Just request for Zenon, unless the person who's called that is an active user?

I didn't even know I could change my alias because I have never updated anything in my personal profile even on any of my accounts. If I knew about this sooner I would have been using this account (my original account) again a long time ago; I guess it is time to start over on my post count.

That's because it is. :P

I'm sure Tom will delete it when he gets round to it.

Domain names? Are you going to start a Newgrounds MySpace or something? If so, why can't I have a arabfreak.newgrounds.com domain AND arab_freak as my alias?

Weak... not only is my sig based off my name including the dashes, but I even made one of those holographic things (at a 3d convention called Siggraph) that changes as you look at it at different angles.

lol check it out:

CLICK HERE TO SEE THE AWESOMENESS

don't worry about the fact that it's backwards... i configured my webcam to be backwards so I could move my hand one way and have it move that way onscreen.

I dunno, I kind of like my new name. I always did hate the name Zenon anyways, just that if I changed it, everyone would be like "Who the hell is that?"

This is a pretty good reason for me to change my name, I think :)

So what about the username Ryan or Rhino? I always wanted one of them. And I can't find anybody by those usernames post or profile wise.

Response to New Username Standards 2006-09-09 17:22:58

I never liked underscores anyway, and that bastard "Rabid" still has his name so I can't take it.

why do i suspect Alt accounts will be banned next, and NG "real" population will shrink to a tenth of what it is now.

do you really think they want to store TWO names in the database for each user instead of just one?

Looking at that image excites me! http://rupeeclock.newgrounds.com will become a reality?
One can imagine it will most likely be something to do with profiles, possibly more!

How's about this, instead. The staff take a trip over to Egypt, we meet up with you, and then go for a nice walk along the Suez Canal Bridge.

I guess that would be a good idea... But I really hope it doesn't happen.

No it wouldn't. What would NG be without pokemon_trainerBROCK? Pokemon could kill bullies!

I sincerely wish you'd stop complaining. Please note that in the midst of your tantrums, everyone else is trying their best to adapt. Fortunately, I've had the same user name for years. I use underscores in my username on numerous sites, granted, but I would change on NG if I had to. If it's that much of a burden, or too hard for you to understand or accept, you can pack your bags and find another site. We aren't going to re-work everything in relation to the user system to fit your personal needs. Somehow I don't think it would be fair.

Tom's been busting ass all day meeting the needs of individual users who're flocking to him in record numbers. The last thing any of us needs right now is your continued whining.

In short, again, shut the fuck up and get over it.

On another note, I'd like to thank the crazy amount of users who're holding their own ground and helping us get through this relatively fast and painlessly.

Response to New Username Standards 2006-09-09 17:38:28

Holy crap! You made the change!

Thanks Tom, I love you! :D
