Not sure where Rucklo is - I know he's pretty busy at the moment - Rucklo can yell at me if I'm messing anything up but I'd like to try to get some results put together - I know that several of you are very anxious to see the results.

hum didnt i send you the list of who are the backupjudges yet? meh, im more dizzy than i thought...

However, there will be no announcing the winner until the radioshow is ready to air. Thats the whole point of the radioshow, making things more intereseting... also we might get some special guest or so too... we´ll see what happens in that show :)

i´ll send you the list of twho has the backup thingies right now, LJC!

Also, once again i´d like to apologice for this taking so long. But if the finale can be made better with adding a few days, then i preffer doing it this way.

Also, it´s important to remember, for you who are starting to get anxious, that everyone involved are doing this on their sparetime and for free (well, technically not Utah, but im quite sure that his job description says nothing about helping out with some forum-audio contest :)
It´s important to understand that not everything always goes as planned.

There is no official deadline (except i had one for the judges), also keep hat in mind.

However, I too want the announcing out a.s.a.p, but like i said, if it can get better with adding a few days, then that´s how it´s gonna be!

It´s not a dumb thing to actually expect future MAC´s to take a week or two for the judging and whatever have to be done. Just because the sign up is closed doesn´t mean the results will be out the next day, allthough that´s what the goal is!!!!

I hope you all have understanding for this!

I understand completely.
(Actually I had already said that, but it felt so rude to immediately change the subject)
Question: will the radio show be available for download?

Yeah I hope so, we talked about it and _altr_ was gonna check out what options there are. I belive not everyone will be able to listen to it live, so we´ll have to take care of that one way or another.

Also, there will be a complete list (with links) when all is announced and done in this thread, of course!

Perhaps in order to help get scores in faster, instead of starting judging after the entries are out, entries can be judged as they stream in.

So for example, if you have 6 judges.

1st day - 4 songs entered.

First four judges given those songs, judges 5, and 6 not going anything.
J1:1
J2:1
J3:1
J4:1
J5:0
J6:0

2nd day - 3 songs entered.

first judge gets second song to judge, judges 5 and 6 get one song.
J1:2
J2:1
J3:1
J4:1
J5:1
J6:1

etc etc, until all songs are done coming in.

Response to Mac6 - August 2006-09-07 14:43:32

its a good idea, but then it must be decided from the beginning that ALL songs wil recive judging. Also as of now, each song that get judged recieve not only one, but four judgements from four different judgings.

"streamed" judging is a good idea, but it´s also quite unreliable, since one can never know how many ppl will actually sign up for the contest. also there is a risc that judges would drop out after a week or two... those are the cons.
do you have any more pro´s and perhaps twists and ideas? shoot ´em out :)

make the judges give the address out so if they don't give the reviews fast they can expect Rucklo and Ljcoffee at there door with a bat and a pipe.

It is definately not a system that can be used for contests such as this, but on a realistic level I do not think situations like this will arise in great quantity, so a standard judge system should be designed to handle the contests that are inside normal parameters.

That is I believe why you deemed backup judges a necessity, seeing as there is NO system that can be designed to gaurantee a judge will remain.

"streamed" judging is a good idea, but it´s also quite unreliable, since one can never know how many ppl will actually sign up for the contest. also there is a risc that judges would drop out after a week or two... those are the cons.

For this reason I also believe that contestants SHOULD be able to judge as well should they choose to, just not their own song. Why? Because having a judge's piece in the contest will be a greater incentive to do the work they promised to do, seeing as their own work is in the contest and by pressure alone, may get judges to get up and do the work.

Another con would be whatever song submitted by person MUST be the final song, seeing as changing their mind will make judges do pointless work, and trust me, that will piss the judges off, and thats never a good thing for future contests.

do you have any more pro´s and perhaps twists and ideas? shoot ´em out :)

The pros to this is of course, instantaneous results when deadline hits, or at the most 2 days after deadline ends to enable a day of lazyness, and perhaps a day to get the remaining few songs judged.

And to handle the multiple judgement situation multiple judges can be assigned the same song, in a matrix grid. Of course, keeping tabs and track will be up to the co-ordinater, which I assume is either you or LJCoffee as of this date.

So

Day 1 - 4 songs entered
(Songs designated a number by arrival, so 1 is... well song 1

J1: 1 - 2 - 4
J2: 1 - 3 - 4
J3: 2 - 3
J4: 1 - 2 - 4
J5: 2 - 3
J6: 1 - 3 - 4

Day 2 - 3 songs entered
J1: 1 - 2 - 4 - 5 - 7
J2: 1 - 3 - 4 - 6 - 7
J3: 2 - 3 - 5 - 6
J4: 1 - 2 - 4 - 6
J5: 2 - 3 - 5 - 6 - 7
J6: 1 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 7

If a judge leaves, a backup judge takes the load, of whichever songs were left, or if all the songs were unleft, then all of them. Should the load be too large then the songs be dispered evenly (not all of them) amongst the other judges.

I wish this contest was advertised a little better than this. I just found about this contest and I think that I have some very valid and good submissions that would apply to this. Can we get the word out about future contests on the front page or something? How long have Ya'll been doin these?

Response to Mac6 - August 2006-09-09 14:14:46

It's pretty hard to advertise this on the frontpage me thinks. But then what if it was advertised and that there would be some 60 to 100 submissions... it would be pretty hard to manage the whole thing... I think it's ok like it is.

It's good to know that things are coming along nicely Rucklo. I don't mind the wait one bit, good things take time to make. Sorry to hear you've been having problems though...

Response to Mac6 - August 2006-09-10 02:31:18

ok - This is all being help up because we need ONE more set of scores... We've been waiting for two days now and we still don't have them.

All I need is ONE person willing to judge ten tracks following a few simple directions.

As soon as that is done, I can send the results off to the people that need them.

Any takers?

Beuller?

Maybe some of us just don't like combining the two environments? I'm completely happy having my Schlongic without Pubase. It's neater, and makes Schlongic look bigger because you don't have Pubase taking up half the viewing area ;D
