Incorrect. PNG files do not save layers and that is what I would require especially as you wanted the font changed.

Well, obviously too tall. But I see what you have done with it in your current sig. I like it, personally though I would have put the text slightly lower, the punctuation slightly smaller and lower and a boarder in the same colour as the text.

The image you posted in that post was too tall for a sig. As a stand alone graphic it works though.
I considered a transparent border. Why do you prefer borders on sigs?
With your current sig because the background is black and it is on top of the NG dark grey it just doesn't pop out. A contrasting colour border brings the sig out more.
Personally I like the sig without a border. More subtle.
