I've been submitting audio for about two months now, and there is one thing that I have noticed which really bugs me, and this is the rating system.
From what I can tell, the audio portal gets far less publicity than the flash portal (for obvious reasons) and because of this, anything submitted gets far fewer votes in the initial "most recent" list.
Normally, this isn't a problem as most people have the capacity to listen through the track, come up with an opinion and vote accordingly and sometimes even leave an intelligible review.
But, of course, then there are the noobs who abuse this increased voting power and 0 everything for NO REASON leaving no suggestions for why they have done so. I wouldn't have a problem with this if it happened in a smaller proportion to the number of reasonable votes, but the problem is if just 1 person does it, it completely throws off the whole score thus giving and unfair representation of what it should be.
This is a completely pathetic and just plain jerkish act which really gets on my nerves after I've spent a few days mastering a track, only to have it hypothetically shat on by some power-craving philistine looking for a cheap laugh at someone else's expense.
I guess I'm just saying this to see if anyone else is having the same problem. I doubt there's really much that can be done about it, other than giving the voter an intelligence test before they vote... hey, or maybe even making the voter leave a review after they vote so at least they can be contacted and asked WHY they've 0'd all your stuff.
Anyway, I think I've ranted for long enough now. Tell me what you think...
