Why not just use the seven-number ranking that vgmix is using? It's psychologically more accurate for us--something about polarity of choice between 1-5 is much higher than between 1-7. It's easier for us to find a midpoint of 1-7 than 1-5 (in other words, people wont just vote 0 or 5.)

dont know if this has been suggested yet, but a flash application sort of like NGAP Radio would be cool. only have it be bigger, and look like a hybrid between the flash portal, and iTunes. So you would have all of your personal playlists on the left column that would save to your cookies. and then there would be three columns in the main area for browsing all the top music, and most recently submitted music. and then if you were to click on something all the info would appear along the top with a timeline, player controls, and an option to vote and review, or add to one of your playlists.
this would take a lot of action script but I think it would be really cool. Also to make it in real time so you wouldn't have to keep refreshing to see new songs.

Back in 2005 they asked for suggestions too and its been two years since then. I remember when they were gona end ParagonX9's monopoly on the tunes played on the audio page when they asked people for small clips to be added tot he player...
The simple fact is NG does not give a rats ass about the Audio Portal. This is a flash oriented website and they audio portal is only ment to fuel the flash's needs.
I personally would love to see the Flash Blam system implimented in the Audio Portal along with daily rankings...having to listen to songs to vote on em ect...
Will this or anything special ever happen for the Audio Portal...

-A better system for voting stolen items off the site needs to be put into place. I'm tired of seeing people putting up their "Pirates of the Caribbean" soundtracks onto their page. That is copyrighted music, and costs money, no one should benefit from that except for the producer of the music, and the consumer of that music, the producer by selling, the consumer just by listening. Stolen music has become a big problem, I can point out at least one artist that has many stolen things on his account right now. This is wrong.

-This is a serious problem. What worries me more is that people actually DOWNLOAD STOLEN SUBMISSIONS! What kind of community is the audio portal becoming that it deviates from it's true purpose. To serve flash artists through self created music, original works for anyone to use freely. If this can't be dealt with, the audio portal is easily at risk for corruption.
My suggestion would be to make it easier to find good stuff on NG audio... i found it hard to click into a genre, it would be better if it could be like flash portal where there is a list of highest votes and maybe another list of most downloaded... once again i just found it hard to find stuff... as of now it seems like i go into NG audio and just randomly clink a song...

there´s a search bar underneath the "Weekly top 5" in the ap. You can search by author, but also by description detail. It might help you some.

Perhaps this was brought up before, and if it was I'm sorry to beat a dead horse...
With the changes to the Audio Portal, and the face of NG, as well (so I've heard), why not feature other songs on the Audio Pagethat include more than just Paragon's?
If more artists are heard, then they'll get more publicity. And, of course, the music should be checked before making the page, perhaps for the day or two. I know you don't want some half-assed song making it on the front page, let alone getting more than necessary publicity that should go to a more... deserving artist.

4. Allow us to change comments after left.
5. Allow us to remove music.
6. Give more GLORY in audio! It can be just as hard and harder than flash!

7. Allow unregistered users to vote.
8. Give better and more in-depth statistics (ex. times played)
9. Give more awards for audio than just gold, platinum, etc.
10. Actually pick good audio for the A-Bot submissions and top 5, not just random submissions.
11. Add more detailed categories.
12. Give ALBUM ART!
13. Allow artists to choose the mp3 tag Album or allow people to choose the name of their album.
14. Create a Newgrounds Audio Podcast.
15. Allow more thing to be done on the audio forum (ex. "review my music" because nobody ever looks at audio advertisements).
16. On your user-page, have an audio review section similar to the video review section.
17. Add thumbnail views to the audio portal.
18. Have the audio portal display more than just recent songs (ex. best weekly, top rated, etc.).
19. Allow for songs over 4,000 megs.
20. Listen to some of my suggestions.

I'd like to suggest something! When you go to » Respond to Reviews part in the Audio portal options on your profile. Make it so you don't get confused at which one has latest reviews and which has oldest
Like. I always want to see new reviews. But I have 4 pages of music and I just can't look through them all when a new review comes up. So make the reviews be sorted by date or something

Also you could make a person have a separate portal (Like on DA. Art and Junk) where the author can add their songs to "Most recommended" so each user can just go to the person's audio portal. Click "See songs most recommended by the author" so when they click it. A small list of tracks appear (like 5 or 10) of the most recommended songs by the author? The author can pick which songs will move to the recommended section

If that were the case, audio artists would either get little to no reviews on their songs, or tons that they'd have to shift through every time they're looking to respond to a friend's review. >_< Instead...
I came up with this voting system idea on another thread... and I thought I'd post it here. I expanded on it as well.
There would be no anonymous voting system. Instead, there would be two review systems: a long one, Reviews, and a short one, Comments. Audio artists would be able to respond to both. Comments would work similarly to reviews except there's only an overall score and, since they're comments, the character limit would be much smaller. They would count as your vote. And since they're not anonymous (maybe there could be a link to a user's comment history working similarly to reviews) the zero voters would be found and there would be a way to stop them. (Maybe comments - reviews too, actually - would have a "Did you find this review/comment useful?" system and it would be possible to flag audio reviews/comments as abusive as well.)
That's it. I think I might be onto something with this idea... :)

A weekly top 5 suggestion: Make one track per person win. If some person wins two spots 1st and 2nd for example. The second wont count because they shouldn't have two submissions that made it to the top. But that's just what I think would be better >_>
