Yeah, but you didn't post your points. We get serveral posts of users that say: "I'm in!" but never report back. It's just too time consuming to look for every user that said "count me in". So, you'll only be added if you post your score after the first week.
It shows that you care about the club and that you understood the points system.

Post them whenever you are done with reviewing. But you shouldn't post them later than sunday. :)

Feel free to review my reviews if you want. I'm honestly always interested in how to improve in review-writing.

But remember that "as informative and detailed as possible" just isn't realistic. You can carry on searching the flash/audio for niggles or things to praise and continue loading the review with info, until you get to the character limit. Then you can go through and edit and contract your review (whilst retaining meaning) to give you a few more characters to add in yet more info. By that point, you've spent 30-60 minutes. It's just not realistic to spend that much time on a review. I'm honestly an advocate of putting a time limit on your review - whether it's 4x the length of the song (reviewing while it's playing), the length of the movie (reviewing whilst it's replaying) or 5 minutes. Or even 10 minutes. Striving for 'perfection' is a thankless and - ultimately - unachievable goal.

I tried taking a couple slightly less seriously than I normally would, but I still made sure I kept to my personal 'minimum requirements' - a bit of praise, a bit of specific constructive criticism/suggestion and an overall opinion. I still think that's a good 'criteria to maintain'.

i may be a bit too new around here to do the list maintenance but i'd love to do it if nobody else wants to i've got plenty of freetime so that won't be an issue

I was thinking the same when I made the update... maybe he added the "total all time" a bit later... or the total all time got a bit messed up over the years. I wasn't sure how I should handle this. Adding a few numbers to the "Total all time" or substracting some of yours and milinko's "could have done" counter?

Well, currently I'm still on semester break. The new semester starts in october and it might be possible that I have to retire as member-list-updater then.

I wasn't drawing your reviews up for some scrutiny - to be honest it was some of the younger members of the RRC, who write 2-3 lines of text as a 'youtube' style of comment.

A simple formula for writing reviews is to tell the author why you liked the piece (if you did) and then go on to how they could improve. Naturally, you will find that there are some reviews that will have a long list of potential improvements, while others have lots of areas that you want to praise.

Actually taking the time to write Review Request Club at the bottom of a reivew is useful, because if you're not going to, that's fine. If you're going to write "RRC" at the bottom of the review, then how are people going to know what it means?

The amount of time that you put into your reviews is amazing - they are very detailed and you do give lots of helpful advice. I can see why you are one of the top Responses gainers. That reminds me, I must get a few of the goldmines that I know are out there plumbed for the responses that I know I can earn.

I suggest the latter. He and I have both been around since the start and I've put forward more requests, so if anything, his should be less than mine.

Of course, others may feel that's unfair as it increases my % a fraction.

Seems we're agreed on the basic principle. Thing is, it kinda annoys me if folk give anything under 10, then make no attempt to suggest possible improvements or cite issues. Not that I want reviewers to give me 10/10 - ideally, I'd just like folk to be honest and try to work out in their own minds what would have made the submission better. Sometimes the execution is perfect and the premise itself is flawed. That's a fine thing to comment on, too.

One pointer about lists of criticisms - I used to write long lists, with +/- beside each one to indicate how much I liked/disliked that aspect. But on reading responses and rereading my own reviews, I realised that that time would be better spend just explaining one or two aspects fully. If one aspect makes you hate the submission and a few others just make it slightly worse, make sure the bigger issue is explained, even if it's at the expense of mentioning the others.

Of course, this is my opinion and as always, I'm open to arguments and others' opinions.

i did look at the top but i still didn't get it.

Hey guys of the review request club.

I know you've doubt my work before, but let make show you one final movie to redeem myself. Let me show you for one last time that I do listen to my reviewers and I do respect you. I'd admit my old work wasn't all that good, and I was just learning, but after working hard for countless hours I finally bring you something i'm proud of. This is the last chapter of the season for this series. Let me tell you some improvements on the movie. THERE IS NO INTRO, NONE AT ALL. NO ANNOYING BORING INTRO. It just starts right away, it is exactly 3 minutes long. Full of intense action, better voice acting, great music that syncs with the movie. It's almost like a music video. Much better drawings and special effects and you will see that. Frame by Frame and more. I think this movie will change your mind about me, and I hope I can get back some of my old viewers who I upset. Please give this last movie a chance. If you think it is spam or crappy you can block me and never ever watch my movies again. If however you think it's acceptable, please give it a review i'd appreciate it. Please, please watch and review it. This is my last movie for the season. On Thursday, Bezman currently creates a list of all requests and recommendations made up until then, since the previous thursday. This can be seen as a 'preview' of the list that will accompany the following members' update on Sunday/Monday. The points for these are tallied 10 days later.

Requests made between the 'preview list' and the 'members' update' carry over to the next preview list. So you will always have over 9 days to finish the reviews. (Feel free to review submissions as soon as they are requested!)

Should I link to the club in my sig?
There's no obligation to do so, but it's certainly appreciated. Remember that you can put a high number in place of the page number in the url and if that page doesn't exist yet, NG will take you to the latest page, whatever it is.

then anyone following that link will always see the latest page.

I don't understand what recommendations are all about!
As mentioned under this section in each list, 'You may make a recommendation if you reviewed 100% of the previous weeks requests and recommendations. It should be over 3 days old and have under 50 reviews.'

As long as your name is on the last 'All requests completed' list, feel free to recommend something you've enjoyed from the portal.

You could use this to let us know about something you think is specially awesome, yet overlooked. If there aren't many game or movie requests, maybe you could make a recommendation so we have something to review.

Does the Review Request Club review stuff for non-NG stuff?
Short answer: no.

Long answer: Milinko used to include youtube requests in the list of requests, but the introduction of a points system didn't leave room for such things. You can request reviews here, but some of us may not have accounts on Myspace/Youtube/whatever or may simply be disinclined to review things outside NG. It wouldn't get nearly as much attention compared to if it were a NG submission.

I'd suggest putting songs on the AP, then making a request that way. It lets us give feedback whilst staying on our favourite site. ;-)
