I was trying to make something we could copy for the top of every page. If you guys think the FAQ is overkill, then I'll delete it.

But yeah - rather than just copy/paste portions of it, it might be better to discuss as a group how big this 'header' should be.

A lot of folk seem to be confused by the fact that there are 2 updates - whether requestor or reviewer - so I think that part's probably needed.

The FAQ maybe less so. I mean answering those questions once a month isn't a big deal.

It means that you should post once to say, "Hi!" before you start reviewing. Just as you did - let us know you want to join.

Maybe that line should be changed?

Okay guys, these last few weeks have been really rough for me. I know that after four weeks I'll be removed from the list, so I'll complete the next list and every list from there on unless something else comes up.

As of now I am ready for reviewing!

CLUB INFO (these are the pieces of info you're looking for)
........................................
......................................

General Rules for Requesters:
If you are planning on requesting reviews, please:
- Post a direct link to the submission(s) you want reviewed.
- Make no more than 3 requests within one week.
- Do us a favour and respond to our reviews.
- Be patient. Due to the points system, you may not see reviews until up to two weeks after you request.
- Do NOT request without posting a link.
- Do NOT just say "Review everything" or just link to your profile.
- Do NOT request reviews for the same submission more than once.

General Rules for New Reviewers:
If you are planning on completing requests, please do the following:
- Post in this thread to let us know you'd like to join.
- Understand the points system and keep track of your own score. You will only be added to the list if you post your own score within the first week.

Points:
**Please also keep track of your own points. If you see something missing, it's probably a mistake**
**To be on the list, you must make at least one review, posters only will not be counted**

5 points for a review on a requested movie/game
7 points for a review on a requested audio
+1 point for putting "Review Request Club" at the bottom of a requested review
3 points for posting at least once throughout the week
5 points for referring a new member (must mention you in first post)
7 points for reviewing all requests/recommendations for that week

Club updates
Each Sunday or Monday, Haggard or Shanus currently create a list of all the members, counting up their points, calculating various stats and posting a list of requested submissions. Assuming you review the submissions listed, you will get points for them on the following members' update, 6 or 7 days later.

On Thursday, Bezman currently creates a list of all requests and recommendations made up until then, since the previous thursday. This can be seen as a 'preview' of the list that will accompany the following members' update on Sunday/Monday. The points for these are tallied 10 days later.

Requests made between the 'preview list' and the 'members' update' carry over to the next preview list. So you will always have over 9 days to finish the reviews. (Feel free to review submissions as soon as they are requested!)

FAQ
Should we have a FAQ?
I don't know. It kinda seems like overkill.

Should I link to the club in my sig?
There's no obligation to do so, but it's certainly appreciated. Remember that you can put a high number in place of the page number in the url and if that page doesn't exist yet, NG will take you to the latest page, whatever it is.

So if you link to: http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic/4834 48/999
then anyone following that link will always see the latest page.

I don't understand what recommendations are all about!
As mentioned under this section in each list, 'You may make a recommendation if you reviewed 100% of the previous weeks requests and recommendations. It should be over 3 days old and have under 50 reviews.'

As long as your name is on the last 'All requests completed' list, feel free to recommend something you've enjoyed from the portal.

You could use this to let us know about something you think is specially awesome, yet overlooked. If there aren't many game or movie requests, maybe you could make a recommendation so we have something to review.

Does the Review Request Club review stuff for non-NG stuff?
Short answer: no.

Long answer: Milinko used to include youtube requests in the list of requests, but the introduction of a points system didn't leave room for such things. You can request reviews here, but some of us may not have accounts on Myspace/Youtube/whatever or may simply be disinclined to review things outside NG. It wouldn't get nearly as much attention compared to if it were a NG submission.

I'd suggest putting songs on the AP, then making a request that way. It lets us give feedback whilst staying on our favourite site. ;-)

........................................

Plaintext version here. If a new page hase begun and this info has not been posted yet, please copy the text in the link above and post it, thus keeping this info at the top of each page.

i was just going to copy the first three sections because nobody will honestly read all that..
i mean most people either skim or just ignore.
so if it was short and sweet maybe it'd be more appropriate.
i mean the animators just want to know how to make a request.
whereas the reviews just want to know what to say.
but potential members would like to know what's going on.
so yea i thought first three sections would be sufficient, but then if there are any further questions then to just post up and perhaps on of the regulars could help out.

but its your system i'm just a whisper in the wind..

it was blammed :(
there goes my first 100%..
so i guess this answers a question i once had..
can submissions still be blammed if they've already passed judgement.

Hey - I'm just a member - same as you. I just took the initiative here and wrote something up. If you feel you can rewrite parts to be more succinct or have recommendations on what to skip, go ahead! I acknowledge that I can be verbose sometimes.

Even though I have more seniority, that shouldn't count for anything.

As a new member, did you bother reading it? It's a shame we can't get any real data...

As long as the Requestor rules are at the top, requestors will hopefully read that and that's probably the main issue.

Anyways, I wrote that, but it's just a starting point. Let's have some more discussion on what to cut/include/etc.

At 8/7/08 08:24 AM, X3cutioner wrote: can submissions still be blammed if they've already passed judgement.

No - they can't.

It was either found to be contravening rules or deleted by the author.

And don't worry about your 100% rating - I'm sure Haggard won't count it in the total.

i'd rather leave it to you since you know the plan.

well still gotta show some consideration, but i wish i made an account as early as you did.
at the time i didn't think it was much of a deal.. oh well

As a new member, did you bother reading it? It's a shame we can't get any real data...

i did read most of it, skimmed through bits though, then asked a bunch of questions i wasn't sure on and i think i've settled in quite nicely so far..

And don't worry about your 100% rating - I'm sure Haggard won't count it in the total.

sweet! =)

The club info on top of every page is a good idea, but the FAQ is too much, I think. Maybe we can host it on an external site and just put a link into the header.
Maybe we can only write a short summary of the rules on top of every page with a link to an other site with the "long version" of the text on it.

No, it was deleted by the author or an admin deleted it, but I can see no reason why any admin should have done so.

Well, I was just watching it and when I wanted to submit my review it said: "No such submission exists", heh.
The flash wasn't that great, but it definatly didn't break any rules.

And don't worry about your 100% rating - I'm sure Haggard won't count it in the total.

Of course it's not counted. It would be unfair for all those who haven't reviewed it before it was deleted.

Guys - nearly 2 years ago, I made a forum for a RRC collab that never transpired. I haven't actually been there for yonks, but it turns out that spambots thrive on wasteland.

That's why my site wasn't working - I just found out after trying to upload the rules yesterday.

Kinda funny to see bots replying to topics made by bots. And the accounts with the most posts are bots...

(It'll probably be 'cleaned' by tonight although I'm thinking of making a forum for funny spam.)

By the way, what's your opinion of the square root of 2?

I like the idea and would be willing to host a longer intro for when my hosting isn't closed because of spambots' ridiculous CPU usage... ;-)

What would you suggest the 'short summary' be?

Heh, I stumbled across this forum a while ago (don't know why or how... maybe found a link somewhere) and I was amused how persistent spambots can be. ^^

General Rules for New Reviewers
Club updates (and maybe that can be shortend a bit, too)

Hey guys could you guys improve my newest movie? I've only got 2 reviews, and that kind of is sad. I know my old movies were a disappointment, but this chapter won't disappoint you guys i swear. I worked long and hard on this. I improved the sound, the graphics, the length, more animation.

The Last Hour series is an alternative interpretation of the Last Hours on earth before the coming of Christ. In this version of Revelations, the Anti-Christ allies himself with an alien race from the planet of Jaiba.

The Last Hour: Chapter 5 (The Deceived)
Time is running short for the rebellion. With the rebellion exposed, the rebels now must act quickly or suffer defeat by the hand of the powerful deceiver the Anti-Christ. The Anti-Christs' followers are growing by the minute. The world has been fooled into believing their savior is here. Ohh how wrong they are...

I hope you enjoy the series.
***I will respond to every single review. I'll be happy to take your criticism, and i'll take your suggestions into consideration. It's my promise for taking the time to watch this chapter. It will be perfect for you to increase your review/response ratio. Thanks again.***
***Chapter 6 is in production. I will post an update with more details soon***
