-Cancer
-Inner Sanctum
-(The) River
-The End
-Witchcraft
-Smoke *Stupid/AWSOME band name.
-Kali (Yuga)
-Necromantic
-Necromance *Taken by a FUCKING CHRISTAN band.
-Sepukku
-Sick
-Nihlist
-Dracula
-Gibbed *named after PC shooter jargon.
-Gallows
-King James *For a satrical evangelical "life" un-black metal concept.
-Night Terror
-Sacrifice

Metal Hell | Industrial Crew | The Grindcore Gore Pit

Theirs only ONE "Hell Hammer", and it isn't a band... It's a drummer.

FUCK!!!!
like 99% of the band names I had thought of are taken.
This is why I have to use Icelandic words for band names, like
Skelfing, Blóðþorsti, Helför, Pynting and shit like that.

Váboði is also an Idea I had the other day, Feel Free to use any of them, they mean:
Skelfing- Terror
Blóðþorsti- Bloodthirst
Helför- Holocaust/Journey to hel (TAKEN HAHA MY BAND)
Pynting-Torture
Váboði - Bearer of bad news/Woebringer.

seconded. although if i was to form a band (i wont) then the name that i would choose for it would probably be already taken, you just gotta make sure that they dont have any copyright stuff and that you are better then the rest :P

Thanks, and I sent them to you in a PM.

I really want a flute player to play the melodies in Wolfheart and Eternal Winds of Sorrow. Those songs are definitely gunna stick around btw. They're really the only songs i've written. Anyway, if I make Sorgvind a band, and I hope I will, I am totally getting a flute player. :P

Just because I have a history of hating all my usernames/band names/psuedonyms doesn't mean Sorgvind won't stick. :P

I can't think of anything better anyway!

Will do, i've been getting a lot of underground stuff lately. I just got all of Sarcofago's demos. And VON's Satanic Blood.

Yay Black Metal peoples! I shall join... even though I listen to more Progressive Metal and or Death Metal but I'll still join because listening to a whole bunch of genres is much more fun than listening to only one genre.

Faovirte Bands.... Still kinda new to Black Metal I think...

Behemoth, Deicide, 1349, Immortal, Meridian, Dimmu Borgir, Emperor, Dragonlord.

yeah that's about it...

well the first 2 are death metal (however earlier Behemoth albums are indeed black metal) the others are fairly mainstream except maybe Meridian who i have never heard of before. This club is quite sleepy compared to Metal Hell and did die for a short time but im quite keen to keep it alive, and so are other people.

we will deffinatly help you pick up some more black metal bands to find out ifs the genre for you (the more tr00 side is quite different to the style that you already listen to). What i would recommend to you is to check out some of the more well known bands in bm such as Darkthrone, Mayhem, Burzum. The maybe look at some stuff by Peste Noire, kataxu, lunar aurora, xasthur.

if you dont already know of it metal archives is good site for looking up metal bands, and is my guide for choosing an album to get from a certain artist, and also mentioned further up this page are some sites to obtain some music if you dont have the money for your music collection :P

i apologise for any glaring spelling grammar mistakes, i dont want to re-read that lot and a paused half way through writing it to get a mug of delicious hot chocolate.

After listening to Satanic Blood I realise this is truth.

That's alright! We'll set you straight!

Behemoth

Old Behemoth is black metal, new Behemoth is black/death.

Deicide

They are a death metal band. Nothing about them is black metal whatsoever.

1349

Yes.

Immortal

Yes.

Meridian

I have not heard of this band.

Dimmu Borgir

Technically yes. They are not very traditional though and are VERY mainstream.

Emperor

Yes. Though they later sold out like Dimmu Borgir too.

Dragonlord

Yes. :)

You seem to like listening to the more brutal/mainstream/symphonic side of black metal. We can recommend you some more traditional bands, as that is what we all listen to, and we'll just see if you like them.

Those are alright suggestions, though I would recommend Gorgoroth and Dissection.

How can you compare the evolution of Emperor to the one of Dimmu Borgir??

I hate it when people say "Emperor sold out after "Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk" just because they had a different approach. "Ix Equillibrium" is the only Emperor album I enjoy and it still has lots of black metal elements, but the technical guitar playing and the variable time signatures do add progressive touches. Nothing "chugga chugga" dimmu-overdistorted vocals, linear songwriting, etc. about it. You either like it or you don't, but calling it a sell-out album is pathetic.

Response to Black Metal Grimclub 2007-11-19 07:31:30

The only Emperor album I own and have heard is In The Nightside Eclipse. The reason I said they sold out like Dimmu Borgir is because to my knowledge Emperor stopped playing black metal and started playing extreme symphonic metal, just like Dimmu Borgir stopped playing black metal and started playing extreme symphonic metal.

Which means your former statement is automatically dismissable.

The main difference between these two so-called "sell-outs" is that Dimmu Borgir started playing Pantera-esque groove metal with a symphony on top, while Emperor decided to go into a technical, progressive direction while keeping extreme metal aggression. Trust me, their latest two albums are everything but easily accessible. Listen before you judge.

Check "Ix Equillibrium" first. It's pretty good (I'm not an Emperor fan, so that means a lot), highly experimental and with interesting songwriting. "WIth Strength I Burn" and "The Warriors Of Modern Death" are songs I can recommend.

I believe that Nightside is overrated. Important maybe, but no better than anything else that was going on in the Norwegian scene at the time.

I have to admit, I was a little dissappointed listening to it the first time around, but I've since fallen in love with it. Just because they both play symphonic death metal dosn't mean that they are comparable to each other. Dimmu lost their kvlt a long time ago.

Anywho, I was inspired to re-create my sig after watching the video to "Grim & Frostbitten Kingdoms" by Immortal for the 20th time. What do you think?

Maybe it isn't just me... I'm interested to see what comes out of their union with Hellhammer.

IX Equilibrium is my favorite Emperor album as well, mostly because I don't hate a band for doing what they want as long as it's a positive change. So what if they don't make purely black metal anymore? It's not like it's the ONLY kind of music in the world. Just the best overall.

Me too, if that is the case. Though I would've much rather have seen Hellhammer join forces with Infernus rather than Gaahl and King.

Yeah, but from what I hear infernus has been uncooperative with most everyone lately, and even black metallers need to have SOME level of cohesion. I wonder who'll win the rights to the name gorgoroth...
