Response to Best free program? 2006-04-14 19:13:37

Read the stickies, You might something there.
And what do you really mean by "synth thingy?"
A standalone DXI? some kind of VSTi?
Or are you actually looking for a sequencer that will let you create tunes and such?

Response to Best free program? 2006-04-14 20:12:25

Something that will let me create tunes, like Fruity Loops, and easy to use.

Man, I've posted this same exact advice so many times that you'd think I had stock in the company...

Go to Borders and buy a copy of "Computer Music" magazine - it'll run you $15 and it'll come with a DVD that almost always includes a copy of CM Studio - a complete and free suite that will allow you to create anything you want.

Is it the BEST?? no - it's actually a pain in the ass because it does have a bit of a learning curve but it's included FREE ...

OR - get the free version of Acid from sonymedia...

Good luck

I use Fl studio... But it's not free, there is a free demo though.

Free programs regularly sux... or you can't export or whatever.

You think you've seen the Internet? My previous Newgrounds banner was my Myspace page.

You're right!, D3C4r7, they do suck a lot of them but there are still a few good ones out there!

The free version of acid, sucks balls from a great height. Or something. Unless its been changed, but acid xpress 5 was one of the shittest programmes i've ever seen. I'd rather stake my penis to the table than use that programme to make music with.

Hahaha - it absoloutely does! but hey, they keep asking for free stuff and although it's true that when compared to real programs Acid Express sucks, it's not a bad option for someone who wants something free...

I personally think that what everyone keeps asking for is a copy of "TotalMusicPwnage 2.5" - it's an application that just has one big button in the middle that says"

"Click to create teh total domination music and auto save as teh correct format"

- That's what I think alot of jackasses want... If only it were so simple...

I checked the FAQ and apparently that feature won't be available until "TotalMusicPwnage v.4" - I guess there's some problem with the bionic interface - something about negative feedback or potential electric hazard... something like that.

Release 4 will probably kick-ass - I'm saving up for it now so that I'll have the money ready as soon as becomes available.

Until then I'll just have to order KORE from NI and use that...

Cool - I'll be on

Both very good - Buzz can be a bit overwhelming though. :(

Another freebie - Propellerhead ReBirth - nice FREE retro piece of software that.

Another fun toy - Rubberduck - if 303's are your thing

Another neat toy - neuromixer AVDrum Like a drum sequencer but you can also use it to sequence video clips like drum samples and control it all via MIDI as well (limited but it's actually pretty cool)

My advice - comb the net and grab as many freeware or shareware audio utilities as you can find - play with all of them - you'd be surprised how much it can help.

That way when you're looking at a program later that seems a bit complicated you might have a better base of experience to draw from... you know?
