This is all very funny only because a couple years ago I was ranked #200 in exp, yanno.
Sigh... It's unfortunate to me that it's likely going to take me as much time as it took you to get from where I am now to where you are now just to get into the top 100.
;_;
You're well ahead of my alt alt gfox and of Coop, if it makes you feel any better.
I've been looking forward to top 200 for ages now. I love experience because it's like the Senate of NG's voting congress... every state's got equal opportunity.
And it's the highest prestige/reputation, too. Great metaphor... the Senate... heh.
Hitting top 200 after almost 5 years of activity on the site really makes you feel like you at least did something with the time spent here, but it's kind of obscene to me that there are 200 other users who have been equally as dedicated as I, only perhaps over LONGER spans of time.
But a few of them over just around as long as you, too.
It takes all kinds of deposterers.
Anyway, I popped in and saw this topic on the front page and was like "woah... did the list get revived? Sweet." I'd been wondering to whom the most immediate thorns in my side belonged for ages now. Really weirds me out to see that I'm getting close to passing people like bigbadron and Miikro. Users that used to be thousands of experience RANKS ahead of me.
List's been back up and running for awhile, before that me and iscrulz would occasionally just touch base with a portion of the list, but no serious regular updating was afoot for awhile, no.
Welcome back aboard the good ship explistipop.
And yep, that feeling of passing teh famed NG legends is always great.

Still, it's fun to climb the ladder, isn't it?
It's really what keeps me on the site. I can take breaks from the BBS no sweat. But depositing... I dunno what it is about these damned points. They're nearly worthless here, it's ultra challenging, so I love it.
Bah. They're not worthless. They're as worthwhile as you feel they are, in your mind.
And VP may not really matter that much.... since such large volumes of people vote on shit in the end (and even the bulk of the first 200 votes even out the VPs of their voters).... but come on. Depostering = a higher exp stat, which is cool in and of itself, higher levels and level icons... and then the higher VP as well.
It's all "meaningless," but there's so many shiny things, who cares? #;-}>
I mean... it's been three full years since I B/P'd actively. And that was only because I had a job where I could keep on the portal while working to vote. Exp is so much of a slower gain, but for some reason I'm smitten with it. Until lvl 56, that is. 5 years from now when I reach that amazing looking skull, I may well stop. Well... maybe 10 exp from the next level. Just in case they redesign the site again.
Good idea in case of scaling beginning again, yes. Stop just short of level 57, and that way as long as you check the site every month or so, you'll never leave level 56 (unless you want to).

I can definitely relate. Many users may see depositing as a "pointless" jesture but for some of us, there's a certain small fun factor in reaching the next step. I too have a goal of reaching lvl 55 and timely ending my deposits but as gfox and Coop pointed out a while back, the balance of power may be in effect again by then. I guess in the end, it may just come down to how much devotion/time you may have for Newgrounds.
Mmmmmm. level 55.
I look forward to that, too. But honestly... I can't see myself ending deposits.
I've still got February 2000 to January 2003 to make up for.
Meaning I've got to deposit forever, and then tack 3 more years of deposits on top of that.
It's a tough proposition. #;-}>
Anybody have any regrets? ;-)
I regret that I didn't deposit even just a FEW months more prior to discovering all the nifty daily things to do on the site in January 2003.... because then maybe I woulda tasted the greatnesses of levels 24 and 25 on the old 30-level NG system pre-redesign.
Now I never will.
Though I did once deposit for a level 24 account for Bedn for awhile, so that was... somewhat nice.
These regrets are offset by the relief of never having been level 23 on the old system.
Yay!

I missed a deposit a couple weeks ago because my girlfriend was making a lot of drama that day.

Now I fall behind a rank every time wismty deposits in the early AM and I don't.
OH SNAP.
GOD MY LIFE IS LIKE THE WORST!!!
Okay, you've gone a bit TOO over the top even for me, now. #;-}>
Can everyone just like, take a break for one day? Let me catch back up?
It's a great idea in THEORY, but... um.... no, I'm afraid not. #;-}>
