Indeed. That was a major problem with the Barney Bunch...as time went on, the leadership of the group was trying to stick to funny, unusual-humor flash...however, many new members, and mere wannabe morons, kept making the rule-breaking flashes (the pop-up and crashing kind) that gave the BB such a fearsome reputation.

Yeah, I realise that, and I was pointing out the Barracks policy :). I'm sure all of us have been tempted to give submissions undeserving marks on occasion, whether it be to gain some extra points, or to help out a friend get his/her submission to pass, but we need to spread a message of fairness and stop bad submissions from getting through (yes, I have been approached by far too many religious pamphlet pushers :D).

Some of their flash is genuinely funny, and as Slash said there is a place for submissions of with poor graphics/animation/audio so long as they are entertaining for other reasons. I'm afraid no such rank exists, although maybe it should! As it is the B/P ranks could do with being updated with the rest of the site in my opinion, as many of the badges are kind of boring/repetitive.

I don't know why but when I try to register for NG log it says that the name and profile ID don't match, and I put in the right id, why won't it work? It's a real problem for me.

I made a sort of redesign to your character Slash, I made it in Flash but I had to edit it in paint, the suckiest program on the face of the planet, but then again that's how I made my new profile pic. but anyway here it is.

I know that discussion has happened a jillion times, but yeah, we could totally go for some new badges. I have no clue what the ranks would be called, since there's really nothing higher than Supreme Commander (you'd probably have to make it like, Samuel L. Jackson rank or something...)...but I think it'd be awesome if the final rank was at 100k B/P (which only a couple people have), with a Vote Power boost of 100%. It'd make sense, as B/P'ing is just as difficult as depositing...it's just a different kind of dedication.

Not to mention that with depositing, hell, you could get up to level 20 and watch the same 5 flash a jillion times...that doesn't really show any special knowledge of the site and its standards. B/P'ers have to be on the front lines, dealing with lots of crappy flash and potentially computer-killing spam...so I'd say we have just as much of a right to a max base VP of 10.00 as a Level 30 user, if we get 100000 B/P, heh.

I'm not sure I want more ranks as such, and I certainly don't think there is a need for more VP gain from B/P, but I do think that the ranks that we have need redesigning. There are too many bars/stars etc that make the whole experience a little less interesting.

I guess a few extra ranks to aim for beyond EGSC would be interesting, but as you say there isn't really anything you could name them. 30000 points is enough for the top rank in my mind, as it has taken me such a long time to get there- after 2 years I'm not sure I could ever find the enthusiasm to go all the way to 50k or100k.

You need to have at least 1500 Blam and Protect points to join the Barracks, and I'm afraid that until that day we can't accept you. On top of that we do check posting history, and in your short time here on the site you haven't posted particularly well.

I suggest you familiarize yourself with the FAQ that Ramagi linked you to in another thread, and learn your way around Newgrounds. Once you have a grasp of how things work, you have improved your posting (e.g. no spam, no one liners etc.), and you have the required number of points, then come back and we will reconsider your request. You can also request to join the NG Police HQ once you have obtained the security guard rank, but be warned that they will also check posting history before accepting new recruits.

Sorry for my absents over that last couple of days. My weekend was a very busy one and today was the first day back at school (GRRRHHHH!)

Im just making a little post to tell you all that I have been keeping up to date with all posts that were made, Congrats to all 9 of our new members and that the next update will be of course tommorow!

As usual I am always thinking of ways to improve the fortnightly updates and I have found a few ways to do so that I would like to run by you all first.

How would you feel about the following ideas being added to the update?

A new section containing each users VP and VP increase

A list down the bottom sort of like the one on NG log that tells you how many users are a certain level, example.

Elite Guard General: 2
Elite Guard Supreme Commander: 10

Etc, etc.

Instead of just having total points, make it have blams, saves and total points.

And,

Having a section containing the total blams and saves made since the last update.

Tell me what you think about each of those ideas!

And, Do you think it would make the update too big and wide if I added any or all of those features?

I guess that would be nice, although it seems a little unnecessary. Maybe instead of a whole new list at the bottom you could include an extra line in the main table with EGSC, EGG... etc. next to each persons name.

There is a danger of making the whole thing too cluttered (as you mention), although seeing individual blam and save counts would be great if you could squeeze it in. Your next point of tracking gains in each though would probably be a step too far- sometimes keeping it simple is better than packing it full of data.

It was pathetic yesterday, especially for a Sunday. Being so close to EGSC it was incredibly frustrating to see 5 or 6 UJ submissions at any one time for most of the day. With luck today will be a bit quicker!

The Summer always brings a faster pace in the Portal. This time of year is never any good for B/P as everyone is stuck in school with exams etc., so hoepfully star paces will be back on the cards in a couple of months time. Pico Day should be a good boost as well :)

That's very true - a regular user will see an increase of 0.02 - 0.03 over 2 weeks, with the only major increases in VP being from rankups, which should already be covered

Yeah, I'm on my lunch break at the moment looking at the news. School shootings are always a big deal around here, no matter how serious, so one this big is dominating all of the news coverage.

It's a horrible thought, but I'm almost getting used to hearing about school shootings in the States. In 20 years of living in the UK I don't recall a single school shooting, yet in 8 months of living in Denver there have been 6 or 7 on the news. There were already a lot of reports this week on school shootings as the anniversary of Columbine is on the 20th.

31 dead and at least 29 wounded. I saw on the little ticker at the bottom of the CNN screen that the gunman is among the dead. At least he can't kill anymore people. I don't know what would possess someone to go out and do something like that. I couldn't even bring myself to just hurt someone, let alone kill them.
