The Star Syndicate are currently propagating a virus, of which one of the mirrors is a Flash decompiler. You can find some threads about it in General, and http://web.archive.org/web/20070102163238/htt p://z7.invisionfree.com/Star_Syndicate/index. php?showtopic=19005 is the link to the topic on the SS forum. Reported to FBI's Online Crime Center :-O
I really hope some one rips these fucks a new asshole for pulling shit like that, in the mean time I don't want any member to open a SS flash, open and close before it loads to vote, but do not, do not press play.

Bahamut has informed Tom and Wade and they are on the case. Let's hope this case is solved and fixed ASAP...

And most people in the General Forums says the SS flashes are awesome?
HA!

Thanks for letting us know! Thank God I didn't vote on any submission that day, because of the vote panel disappearing. Well, I got all that fixed now (Thanks to FireFox in advance...) So I guess I should start protecting the portal once again.

Thank you so much for reporting this here and to the proper authorities both at and outside NG. For a couple of days there, my computer would be fine and then would suddenly stop loading any/all flash submissions. Rebooting seemed to solve the problem, though that might have been caused by something else. Thanks for the heads up about more malicious flash being propagated. I cannot imagine why anyone who is good with computers would get a kick doing things to hurt others like that. Bad flash is one thing, but aiming to damage other people's computers is something entirely different and not in any funny.
B/P is a boring topic? Really? The Portal had been fairly active over the holidays. That was a welcome sight as it helped to rack up those points. Made for a nice experience. I hope everyone else had a lovely New Year's as well.

#1: I got the link to work and I am suprised that the SS are doing this. Can't you go to jail for doing stuff like this?
#2: The SS have gone too far. The hacked one of the coolest flash authors, Wonchop and now they are going to give people virus that hurts there computer literally.

I thought the person who hacked Wonchop's account was a member of the Kitty Krew. In one of the responses he gave, he says he is from the Kitty Krew.
Look in here

It is also a crime in which local, state and Country authorities may intervene, several years back, a bored man from Britain created some viruses to find interesting stuff to do, FBI tracked his whereabouts in the U.K and notified them, he was placed with a heavy fine and 2 years in jail.
Cyber crimes are considered severe today as it's both damage to property and peace of mind of a person. It is always on a large scale of victims, and whenever they are caught, like when publishing their plans <_< , they are tracked down by authorities, and put where they belong pending on age. I predict Tom and Wade will do the most to prevent this, but the following scenario would be ideal:
*Suburban home in the U.S.A*
Door bell, "Hello, I am a representative of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Open the door*
*Zit faced teenager answers the door* : "Yes, what do ya want..."
"Are you the owner of the pc that's IP is ___,?"
"Yes...Why"
"Please come with me to solve a few things regarding your use of it"
"What, no way, fuck off"
*Smack over the head with the butt of a gun and brings kid to unconsciousness* : "I'll use force if necessary."
*Drags kid to FBI HQ.*

There are less "I've been hacked" topics for the moment, I guess people aren't TOO stupid... Or they already fell for it and they're too busy wondering what's happening and trying to clean up the stuff...

HA! They can't hack me, I have to many extra codes on this PC. I have codes for everything, including seeing the people on the Flash Portal. The SS would have a hell of a hard time going through 110+GB of code. All hosted from my private account in a private place.
Hey everyone, sorry for being so inactive. Its mainly because im getting bored of B/P'ing. Hopfully I'll get back into it soon.
Look who is trying to spread a new Virus with an innocent manner.
( Clue, look at source of download, and do not download it. In fact, I recommend, whistle it. )

What do you mean by "seeing the people on the Flash Portal"? I don't quite understand that, but yes, it's true, some people might not get affected by this malicious attempt by the Star Syndicate. I thought they weren't that bad of a crew, they spam the portal and sometimes upload unsuitable content to the portal, but implementing viruses on a submission to futher extract a user from using his computer normally, is quite riduculous and hurtful indeed.

I mean I have a code that let's me see all people on the Flash Portal. It's a list the same type as the BBS. It's not hacking, so it's not illegal, but it's rather a harmless around 150 chracters of Javascript.

Oh ok, I know what you mean now.
By the way guys, I am now a Elite Guard Sergeant Major. This badge doesn't look that bad. Elite Guard Sergeant Major and Elite Guard Praporshchik are the only badges that have an Eagle on it, so I should be honored to have this badge. :)

But still, this code doesn't seem too nasty. Has anyone been able to manually remove it from their PC yet?

I don't think any of us have been infected, or have we? Is HomerDough the only one who got infected?
Whats happened everyone? did the starsyndicate release a virus or something?

Well, I am not sure myself but I'll try to explain of what I know. Other members who know the whole deal behind this, be sure to clarify some thing if I get this wrong. For some dumb reason, a member (or members) of the Star Syndicate submitting an animation (Was it and animation? I'm not sure...) That contained a virus on it. From what I have seen, if you would have played the video, you would have been infected by a virus. There have been two so far, or no? I don't really know. So if you guys see a submission that looks quite suspicious, be sure not to watch it or click anything in it.

Odyssic, sir! You may not know me, I may not know you, but it is great having you back. Now, go off to work soldier and protect the portal!

Penguinlink, do you know if it was a star syndicate wannabee or the actual star syndicate?
surely the group should be shut down for this. For real this time, not some april fools joke.

I'm not really sure. But my guess is that the person was an actual member. If it were to be a random user trying to be a member of the star syndicate, then the administrators would then check his profile etc... to check if he really was a member. I don't think users on the BBS would be claiming the Star Syndicate to be submitting virus filled animations just for jokes. Maybe the individual was a true member of the crew. Which is kind of sad because I'm sure there is at least one Star Syndicate member that disapproves of the action committed and he hasn't have to pay, or should I say, the whole crew shouldn't have to pay for something not all of the members decided to do. Which is to say, an idiot just ruined the whole crew as a whole.
