Don't give up hope yet- I've gone from bronze to gold in just two days, and quite honestly I haven't flagged that much in that time. Just browse the abusive review thread for an hour or two and you'll have a nice shiny whistle in no time! It's certainly great now that the review mods can delete abusive reviews- you get the rank up almost instantly!

Em...Truth is, I just got Gold whistle, and it only took 2 years of being in NG. Wonder how long till Diety... Back to work now.

I know it sucks so but at least you didn't get a lot of people sending you PM saying mean shit or asking you "are you pissed off that you do all that hard work for nothing" everyone who hated me had a good laugh at me because of this. But if Wade didn't make it easier all the abuse that had been removed would have never been seen and would still be on NG which would be worse. also your deity isn't worthless think of it like this now you have the whistle power that I had for the past 3+ months.

I think the whistle system still needs work, not that I'm complaining over my whistle, but it should feel like more of an achievement, make it a scale, but a bit harder. Also, show us how many whistle points we have and how many we need, it's sort of like running blind folded through the museum of sharp objects with this current system...

Sorry but I have to disagree with the showing of whistle points thing. Whistling isn't a stat like B/P or EXP it is used to keep the site clean from abusive flash and reviews. and if the NG staff was the show everyon their whistle points some people would start flagging reaklessly just to get to the top like B/P and the whistle system would be under more abuse then what it is. Besides there is a reason the NG staff didn't show people their whistle points in the first place not to mention it would ruin the surprise of getting a new whistle level which is the only thing that is fun about flagging (even though I will never have that pleasure unless wade makes a whistle level past deity)

Now now, that makes little sense. If programmed right, it could only help. By showing how many points are needed, people are motivated to flag more, by making/keeping the system strict so that you will lose points for an un just flag, and only earn for an honest flag, that would cause no reckless flagging.

You see, this is a simple matter of human Psychology, I don't claim to be an expert, but I do know that if a person faces the knowledge that he will be rewarded for good, and punished for bad, the normal will lean to doing only good, even if for the reward, it's still doing good.

A b/p competition, and I'm not part of it? :(

Not only that but abusive reviews are getting flagged very fast now! I think it's better and more efficient that more people have the Deity whistle.

Hey guys I've been lurking here for awhile now and with permission I'd like to join the barracks. Don't worry I qualify, I'm gunning for Madcow next.

I do have a few comments about the whole whistle thing. A lot of you feel that the deity whistle has been devalued with the update. But the fact of the matter is that everyone that now has a deity whistle has worked hard to get rid of the abuse on newgrounds and are deserving of it within the current system. Unless the whistle system was completely re-worked it would have been un fair and detrimental to the goal of the whistle system. In other words peoples whistles could not get any stronger resulting in less abuse being removed. So in that regard this whistle update is an improvment over the last system. Although not unique anymore the deity whistle is a powerful tool to remove abuse on newgrounds. It was never meant to be a stat. That's how I look at it and I'm glad I have that kind of power now.

Well I've always liked newgrounds for the movies and only recently started getting into b/p as well as flagging. I've been following this thread for awhile now and like the people. So I thought why not. I may not have a high post count but that hardly means I have nothing to say. Although I am pretty busy with work and school I think I can find the time to post. True If it is programmed right it would be, but still whistling is serious business on this site it shouldn't be made into a stat which is what will happen if they show the whistle points to the public.

Stopped because they only flagged for the reward and not for the true purpose of whistling to get rid of the abuse. Plus it would also ruin the surprise of finding a new whistle in your profile which is one of the few things that is good about noot having the whistle points shown to the public.

How do you guys get yourself to look through all of that (the portal) and not give up on B/P ing?

I wouldn't say that I'm not a talkative person it's just that I never paid mind to the forums except for maybe news announcements. Although I am into politics I'm not into debating. I almost got into that but it would take too much time and fact of the matter is you're not going to convince many people of your point of view. After I started b/ping more I started getting more competetive which led me here. Although I may never be at the top it's addicting once you start b/p actively, which should answer SkullScar's question. It's fun. Now that I've started posting I'll probably expand to other area's but I doubt I'll post as much as you guys. Thanks for the welcome Hemlok.

I wouldn't call it a stat, I'd call it, a direction point, it doesn't even have to be a specific number, just a bar slowly filling up to show where you are approximitely, to keep some one from giving up.

Firstly, Einstien, or some other wise guy did say once that doing a good deed for its reward, doesn't make it any less of a good deed, who cares for the reason, as long as good is done.
And as for the second claim, I'd be willing to give up the utter surprish in exchange for the knowledge of where I am pretty much, just so that I wouldn't be running with a knife in my hand through the dark...
