Happy New Year, all! Sorry about the delay in posting, but yours truly went on a much-needed vacation at the beginning of the year, ringing in 2023 on a cruise ship off the coast of New Jersey as it headed points south to the Bahamas and Bermuda. Surrounded by a few friends and family members, it was a wonderful way to get away from it all for a little while and ring in a New Year in an all new way (at least for us). It was a blast, and like every good vacation, over too soon.

I hope all of you had a good time celebrating the New Year - and may 2023 be the best year for all of you, bringing health, happiness, peace and prosperity. Let 2023 be a year of healing and gathering, looking past our petty differences so we can enjoy the times together. I learned that the most powerful words in the world are: "I'm sorry - I admit I made a mistake. Please forgive me" - so if you're on the wrong end of an argument, be humble - and watch the stress levels drop.

I say this because when we started the trip, there was some friction between some folks, and I was in the middle of it all. Old arguments and hurt feelings made for a prickly start. I got into a heated argument with one friend over the argument they had with another, and in the middle of the verbal sparring, I blurted out something to the effect of "so if you know you're wrong, when are are going to apologize - at their funeral? It will be too late then!" (note: none of us are young chickens, and there's a lot more miles behind us than in front).

That hit a nerve. My friend was quiet for a while, then got up silently and left. Didn't see her for a few hours. Then just around 11PM, she comes back to the main atrium with the other friend arm-in-arm, laughing. She walked up to me, gave me a hug, and simply said "thank you". I could see that they had made up, and moved past their differences.

Enjoy your family and friends, and live each day with love and awe. Even the most darkest days serve a purpose - they let you appreciate the good times just a little bit more. Be grateful for all your blessings, as I am very grateful and honored to be part of the Elite Guard, surrounded by so many good people that I can call friends. Thank you for being there for so many years, and for making my time here in Newgrounds something special.

As for the roster: We ended 2022 on a few high notes. First, let's congratulate now EG Major @freaks-heart on his latest promotions. He just turned Captain last month, and a few days ago, bumped up to Major. At this rate, he'll reach Supreme Commander by mid-year. He's also been very active in the forum, keeping on top of so many questions and clearing out the cobwebs from the portal. Well done, soldier! *Salutes*

Then, of course, we have our "always on" squad of EGSC @Guthrie, EGSC @Exedor and EGC @tox, who not only help out in the forums on a daily basis, they also waste no time sleeping or eating as they rack up those BP points. Toss in EGSC @Pingu, and between these five, they accounted for about 9,500 total points in December. That's impressive! Keep up the great work, all! *SALUTES*

Let's keep this great momentum growing into 2023 - and let's see if we can expand our roster this year with more quality people. So, if you know someone you'd like to nominate as a potential new candidate, please let me know. Our strength grows geometrically with every new member we add!
