Barracks Roster as of September 1st, 2021:
Can you believe that we're 2/3rds of the way through 2021 already? I had big hopes for 2021, considering how bad 2020 kicked our collective butts, but I should have know that Murphy's law would reign supreme and things would just go wrong. Covid is making an encore performance, our foreign affairs are going all wrong, and rumors continue to outstrip reality.
Now, without taking sides or making excuses, and after binge watching a lot of Marvel movies and series on Disney+ all leading to the "Multiverse of Madness" movie(s), I have a theory as to why things are so divided and so weird these days.
One of the precepts of the "mutliverse" is that at certain key decision points in a timeline, a split occurs, where one universe is based on one of the outcomes, and another is based on the opposite. Now, usually these multiverses are separated - usually - but what if two of them overlapped in random areas, and in those overlaps, you'd wind up swapping out with your alternate self, but not really know it. You'd wake up in what you think is your bed in your house, and things look like they should, but as the day progresses, things aren't the way you exactly remember them to be. Conversations with friends and family bring to light that some others share your opinion that "something ain't right", while others think you're crazy and out of touch.
So here's my half-baked, wild ass, need-more-sleep-than-I-get theory: What if, in November of 2019, we experienced a major split. In universe "A", Biden wins the election. In universe "B", Trump wins by a landslide. However, due to the random overlap of these universes, many folks have experienced one outcome, but now exist in the other universe. Understand that neither of these universes are "right" or "wrong", they just represent the alternatives.
It happens that I seem to be from universe "A"; many folks I know are also from "A", but many that I know and respect seem to be from "B", where they are firmly convinced of the alternative history. They don't know they've been swapped, and it's making them angry and confused that what they KNOW to be facts don't hold up anymore.
Likewise, there are folks from "A" who are now in "B", wondering how did Trump win by a landslide, defeating Biden the same way he defeated Hillary Clinton. In that reality, the Democrats are the underdogs, waving banners about the lies and the stolen election. The people from "B" who have not shifted think these folks are delusional as well.
In universe "B", my counterpart is probably writing up a similar post to this as I am, but since there was no swap for me, is probably a bit more resigned to the outcome - and telling those that did flip to relax and get over it.
It would make a lot of sense - it's not mass delusion, or mind control, or conspiracy - it's a random collision of two multiverses, with two distinct realities overlapping. Both did happen, but we can't see that. We only know our own universe - and our own reality.
So what's the end game? (yes, another MCU reference) - I'm not sure. it depends on how long the overlaps occur, and if there are any mitigating causes that will continue the duration of the overlaps - or clear them out completely.
Two realities on one world - now, that would explain everything!
Now, back to this reality...
It seems our local super hero, EGSC @Guthrie, had a stellar month. With over 3000 BP points, he broke the 100K total BP mark, and is now in an elite group of less than 30 Newgrounds users with 100K points or more. Between that fact, and his activity in the forums, he is definitely a force to be reckoned with - and a credit to the EGB.. Well done, soldier, and keep up the great work! *Salutes*
EGSC @Exedor has also been very active in the forums and in the portal, handling questions and keeping some unsavory characters in line - and all in a very professional and positive way. Nice job! *Salutes*
EGSC @Peregrinus managed to crack the 49K BP barrier, and he just edged out EGSC Asandir for rank 7 on the roster. Keep up the great work and the great effort! *Salutes*
All in all, it was a good month. As summer winds down, and schools and universities reopen for the fall semester, we might see a lull next month. But then again, as this year goes, you just don't know!
