This user keep submitting what is essentially the same game (a poorly programmed Pac Man rip off) but with slightly varied colors and designs. Nothing about the game play is in any way different, though.

Is there any rule about this? Or do we just have to hope the users get wise?

It's shovelware at its finest. I watched the account for some days so that I have a fair point in removing them, all but one (Ninja Bomb (the first one does not load for me in any browser so leaving that one would be senseless), the rest are unneeded, effortless copies.

Thanks for the report, though!

According to the description, this belongs to someone other than the uploader, so I'd say it's pretty stolen.

After looking at some of his other stuff, this appears to be stolen too:

Barracks Roster as of February 1st, 2014:

Well, January is finally done - I hope February is a little more milder. I don't mind snow, but this damn sub-arctic cold makes me uncomfortable in all the wrong places! So, tell me again about this global warming theory?

But I digress. The past few months a trio of our finest - Exedor, GameJunkie and our most recent victim...er recruit, DeftonesFan665 - have been really on their A-Game and doing the barracks proud. Between these three members they accounted for over 1,650 b/p points and over 270 forum posts since January 1st. And let's not forget Asandir, swinging away at all the crap that gets reported. Not as chatty as most, as he is the embodiment of "walk softly and carry a big freakin' stick!", but he does get the job done.

Before I continue on with the roster, I want to toss an idea out and see what all of you think:

A few months back the NGPD closed up shop - which means that newbies have no where to join up to train for the EGB. I would like to propose creating a JROTC section of the barracks, where sub-private users can join up as apprentices and learn the ways of the EGB. As trainees, they would NOT be part of any decision-making votes, but their opinions and views would still be heard. One of them would be assigned the "JROTC Liasion" as a central contact for issues they may have, who in turn could escalate it as necessary. Of course, they would be beholden to all of our rules - but they would be kept in the role as a "trainee" until they reached Private. If they are in good standing, they would automatically become a member. Borderline cases would be voted on...this is just a rough idea - any suggestions?

Ok, back to the roster:

Asandir - 24K saves

...really?! I was worse this month than last as far as votes go. Only 128. :\ Sorry. I did do a lot of posting in the EGB, tho. :)

I've been working literally 6-7 days a week. I hope to improve my time here soon, tho.

A few months back the NGPD closed up shop - which means that newbies have no where to join up to train for the EGB. It seems like a hassle to me. There's no ban against them posting here, and they do from time to time. Opening a new group with a name and positions but no real power or authority seems like it could be easily misunderstood. It's kinda like the substitute teacher in school. They had a status and some authority, and yet, most of the kids just ran all over them. I vote we train them here. Then, there's no 'inbetween' and we know the info they receive is ...mostly correct. :)

I hear what you're saying, my friend. I was just trying to find a way to get more interest and activity in the EGB. The NGPD was the starting point for many of our members, and now that it's gone, I was wondering if the lack of the NGPD as a starting point for those who want to do good by Newgrounds is affecting our growth here.

I didn't want to resurrect the NGPD, as that is a full-time job in itself. We already have a structure here in place, so managing rosters and rules would just be an extension to what we do now.

However, you do bring up some valid points, such as being part of a team but having no voice, and that potential new members are welcome to post here and grow with us if they are serious - and that if they do it by themselves, they would be more apt to continue to do the right thing, member or not.

Thank you for your input. Of course, this is all just a theoretical discussion now - nothing would change unless the majority of responses support the expansion - and even then, we'd have to vote on amending the whole EGB structure.

If nothing else, it gives us something to think about.

Thanks again!

Just a random interjection: One of the reasons the NGPD died was lack of new members in itself. Re-creating it in the form of a sub-group would probably end up with a section that's just as dead as the NGPD was at the time of closure.
The lack of activity here is site-wide, not just in this thread I'm afraid. What's affecting the EGB's growth is affecting just about everything else in equal if not greater measure.
I'm not saying it's pointless to try something new to gain members, only that without any new reasons to want to join a club like this in the first place, expanding the number of possible recruits probably wouldn't do a whole lot.

Another valid point. Alas, the entire downturn at Newgrounds has affected so many things. We were at our best when the portal was most active - many users uploading, and many others defending the cause. But now, the real artisans are being overshadowed by continuous shovelware and stolen content. More people are interested in looking, and less in actually making decent content.

So, really, the underlying question is this: how do we bring back the flash programmers and audio artists to Newgrounds?

Thanks for the insight!

I started as a watcher and never considered creating anything. ...until the ideas started coming. Now, I've got lots of ideas and am learning Flash and was creating things in the background, but I just started working and now I have no time! :( If people are inspired, then they may do the same thing eventually- be inspired to create. I do think that the half-hearted submissions have damaged the site, tho. February Flash Flood just started. ...yeah. :\
