Well Andrea, I agree with you wholeheartedly. There have been way too many spam submissions making it through the portal. Hell, I even submitted 2 flashes on Clock Day last year, speaking of which, it is in 2 months and 5 days, and I submitted them to prove a point. Sadly, that point was proven.

People are not taking the time to vote fairly and thus it feels like I'm dying a little on the inside every time I see a [KK] submission get through. T_T

I know what you mean, I've felt it before. But as bad as some of the KK spam might be, I at least like it better than all those crappy games that other websites were submitting until a few weeks back. Somehow I have a feeling that this summer is going to keep my interest in NG better than last one did.

Haha...you just might be right. However, I often vote 1 when something is borderline blam-worthy, only because it's the fair thing to do. Just like I don't automatically 5 something that I want to protect, I figure all six numbers should be used. However, most of the stuff that is considered spam usually doesn't give me the moral dilemma of choosing between a 0 and a 1... :-)

Seriously, if you want a flash blammed, why would you vote 1? There is more chance of it surviving and you not getting the point. If it gets through, have you made that much of a difference to the overall score, by voting 0? Probably not.

Ehh...I just think it's fair. A prime example of voting 1 for a flash is something that is made by a relative amateur and it is borderline. I consider it close to being good enough, but not quite. Usually, in that case, I give it a 1 and I figure if it gets blammed, I was right. Otherwise, I was judging too harshly. But, of course, that's my personal style. Everyone votes differently.

At 6/10/10 04:52 AM, Andrea364 wrote: Hi guys . . So how are you?

I'm good. :-) Nice to see you alive and kicking.

I see the portal's beginning to become a problem as of late. I have to agree with all of you and say that it's been getting steadily more and more out of hand as the years go by. My issue is with the spammers that have over 100 submissions and don't put an ounce of effort into their work. I make an exception for Slash, because whenever he submits work, it's actually enjoyable, mind you, but I find that a lot of flash is intentionally crappy.

Of course, Slash has become the poster-child for getting pissed off at spammers getting their way. He's the king of role-reversals.

Whether we're alone in this fight or not, we should stand up for what is right, vote fairly, and most importantly, we shouldn't be making assumptions based on things we take at face value, like someone's blams or saves. It doesn't matter. What does matter is that we work together to keep the portal clean and have fun doing it. Am I right?

Last I checked. :-) Keep fighting the good fight!

So anyways, I'll be in the portal, trying to catch up to the rest of you guys. Maybe I'll eventually catch up on some sleep too. :)

Sleep is good (so I've heard). Of course, depending on who you talk to, it's overrated. Either way, enjoy and welcome back!

Speaking of boring, I'm at work right now. If anyone wants to hit me up on IM, feel free.

Well things passing is nothing new mass voting I guess still happens. But its not as bad as last summer with the infamous Duck Devision they were the worst. I did see one submission by RR Robert Rangers old group. Been watching Bioshock on YouTube really cool although I don't really like FPS games much, but this game looks cool.

Yeah, I saw that. I tried to help with blamming them, but to no avail. Thankfully, like you said, it isn't so bad. It's nice to see you still hanging around; now I have something to aim for. :)

As for Bioshock, that game has been the one thing keeping me sane while I've been away on forced leave. I love it. Still, it is a bit weird for my tastes.

That's true for me too, but to a lesser extent. While I don't like a lot of spam flash that gets through, I know it's not just the KK, and I have to admit, some of the KK stuff is actually good. It's like Eagle mentioned about the role reversal stuff. So that brings me to my point, which by now, I've entirely forgotten. Perhaps I should have a go at getting another energy drink to keep me awake.

I have to agree here. I'm not liking all these games being submitted by sites on here. A lot of it makes me wonder if they were stolen. I know how easy it is to get a .fla file off of the internet, especially off of a game site that doesn't restrict downloading content. Still, it doesn't change the fact that I'm looking forward to the rest of my summer.

I have to agree here as well. (I'm agreeing a lot today . . weird) I generally vote in the 1-3 range. If a flash is spam, like you said, I vote zero. If it's not and it just sucks, I vote either one or two, depending on how much it sucks. If it's normal, I vote two or three, and if it's exceptional, I vote above that. Depending on my mood, this can change.

Ehh...I just think it's fair. A prime example of voting 1 for a flash is something that is made by a relative amateur and it is borderline. I consider it close to being good enough, but not quite. My voting style, which I already went over, is pretty similar. I tend to be pretty forgiving to amateurs. I usually give a two, since probably tried really, really hard, and I know how much they really want to have a flash on the site. If it's really crappy though, hell with it, I vote one. Either way, I think it's fair. Like you say, everyone votes differently. If they didn't, NG would be pretty boring, what with everything getting the same score. Hell, I'd cry.

Of course, Slash has become the poster-child for getting pissed off at spammers getting their way. He's the king of role-reversals.

Yeah. It's almost cute. =-b

but enough of my fangirling, haha, I have work to do.
Last I checked. :-) Keep fighting the good fight!

Will do. :)

Sleep is good (so I've heard). Of course, depending on who you talk to, it's overrated. Either way, enjoy and welcome back!

Apparently, it's the second option for me. I was asleep for like . . forever, and I'm still just as tired as the day before. Well, there's always trying again, right?

One way everyone can think of it as is that the spammers are keeping us in business. :-P If Newgrounds was perfect, we all know if would be just a bit boring.

Ah, there's the optimism that keeps me going. I have to agree here too. If not for the spammers, I would be really, really bored. I'd probably end up watching every flash ever made, leading me to go on a quest of soul searching and looking for the meaning in my life.

Anyway, since I'm here I wanted to ask, where is everybody? Last time I checked, which was like forever ago, this was prime time.

I'll be in the portal! =-D

Stolen flash. We all know where The Gun Game actually exists. There is a submission for it on Newgrounds - can't stop right now, I've got to try and get some sleep.

Oh, and submissions from Bored.com are submitted under the account Boredcom ;)

I tried to pull the 24 hours last year. It did not end well. But since I got the basic pattern, I'm planning what I'm going to do in the event that I'm jobless and free of responsibility come August 15. Stay active for the first wave, sleep, and then return at 10AM or so to do my duty for the rest of the day.

It's not that they're stolen that I have a problem with: I don't accuse theft if there's no reason to, and there's usually no reason to. It's that they're bland, generic, and inspire no real feeling either way. Spam may piss people off, but it creates activity through forum threads, angry reviews, and pissed-off comments on known spammers' blogs. Sprite movies may get boring fast and have a hatedom among certain elements, but submission of crappy sprite movies shows that people on NG are hard at work creating for the site. Corporate games pass through with a "meh" score, get very few reviews, and are forgotten faster than anything. The guy submitting them has no real connection to Newgrounds beyond submitting samples from his site's game library, and it's not like Newgrounds has any loyalty to the other sites either.

Shit it passed! I need to keep track of these submissions but when I googled the username it said it was from Russia!. Anyway I think this may be stolen but not sure where from looks japanese to me

I'm not flagging unless I can find a link.

Off topic I'm thinking of getting Fallout 3 I saw a bit of it on YouTube, and it looks cool but still I don't know for sure.

I feel for you. Mine did the same thing earlier this year, so I pretty much just quit for a while, since there wasn't any time for me to do anything besides check my grades and homework. By the time that they stopped, my laptop had broken, and I'm still dealing with that. Thankfully, my dad and my neighbors are really nice people and let me use theirs. I hope your situation gets better soon.

That's a smart strategy, haha. I usually just lay on the coffee on Clock Day and keep food near me, only getting up to go to the bathroom. I'm planning on skipping school if it's a Monday or Tuesday. Is it?

Good point. Still, my moral standpoint has me inclined to be just a little pissed, haha. That's just me though. A little amusement at the cost of morality isn't quite my style. I don't get too angry though because, like you said, Newgrounds doesn't give a shit anyway, as long as nobody gets sued.

Ha, yes indeed. It isn't. We're probably better off, since when people read the last pages now, they don't mistake us for a military club. We had a lot of that when I first joined. Since I have no clue who you are, are you interested in joining? I can't let you in due to my position, but just asking.

That brings me to a question: is the NGPD still around? If so, I owe them a hello or two. :)

Actually, it's mostly not that. One member got deleted, for the bazillionth time since I've known him, and with him went a bunch of Flash. Wade is a little creeped out by his, ah, appreciation of child models, but he's a good submitter, posting a lot of Flash in the short time he has an account each time. I guess Wade has him on a "Delete on sight" list by now, though. There were a few Blammed KK efforts though.

Ah, well, that makes more sense, but I can still dream, haha. I haven't seen much KK crap in the portal when I've been on, so I guess the 'delete on sight' rule is in effect, as you said. "We are unable to offer you a position at this time. Thank you for your interest in Target."

T_T :(

God I really, really, really need a new job! Washing dishes part-time a good job does not make!

I guess I'll try Home Depot and Lowe's Hardware. And GameStop(for the billionth time. I think the reason they never get back to me is because where they ask for experience with computers, my dad keeps telling me to put down what game systems I have.)

Yeah, I need a job too. I'll probably (finally!) get my damn driver's license this summer, only reasons it was put off so long were due to first my pre-NG problems, then my suicidal tendencies, then drugs to deal with them. Once I got off the pills I could get my permit, but that was like a year ago, my dad's a bit of a procrastinator. I just renewed it, in hopes that maybe this year I'll get my license. Then I'll be able to get a job, which I couldn't get before because my mom refuses to drive me to and from work and my dad actually has work.

I interviewed at Sears and got a part time job. The thing is, the store is really understaffed and it has basically turned into full time with me working everyday and getting called in on my days off. I might only make 7.50 an hour (every credit card that I get someone to sign up I get 2 dollars as well), but with 30 hours a week it's been really nice.

200 dollars a week and I don't have to spend a single cent is like a fortune at this time. It's my first time ever working in retail and it's actually not bad.

Speaking of jobs, i've got myslelf one at abercrombie & fitch. I've known the really hot manager for a while and she got me a job standing and folding stuff :::a floor model::: It's not what you think, i dislike what they sell. I have a few things from there that i have to wear to work, but otherwise i'm not paying that much for the garbage they produce. It's a easy job except for canadian holidays when they invade and destroy everything in the store and i find myself folding the same thing a dozen times becase they are indesive of what they want to buy... But for 11$ a hour i'll hang around there for awhile.

Not a bad idea. You should try to learn what they sell first, though, before you work there. For training, I suggest listening to "Hardware Store" by Weird Al Yankovic. Everyone knows Weird Al is the regional expert on hardware stores and what they sell.

I'd seriously not worry about it too much. It's just the current state of the Portal. Things like this come and go, and it is all just what makes up Newgrounds. Things will change at some point for the better, as they usually do...till the next crew comes around. :-)

Your posts are never short. At least, not spammy or post +1-ish. A post doesn't have to be long-winded as long as it has substance to it. :-)

Not too shabby. When I was in college, I got to work as the system admin for the computer lab. I did it mostly for the learning, because I didn't make much at all. Hell, I started at $8 an hour, and when I became the head system admin, I made a whopping $8.50 an hour. Of course, my hours were maxed at 15 hours a week... :-/

Something tells me that a guy that goes on Newgrounds enough to make it to Supreme Commander is not the kind of guy that shops at A&F all the time, lol. I don't anyone was worried. At least you're attractive enough to be floor model, lol. I've heard horror stories about people working there that were forced to work back-of-house because they gained weight...wow. What is it with people stealing how the fuck did this pass?! I came across this and its stolen right from ARMOR GAMES you can see the logo!

I just PM Tom Fulp and I reported some other stolen flashes too the other day, this is an account worth keeping an eye on.

Well I have decided to stop playing OBLIVION played it for a few times more but think what is the point if I'm waiting for it to get better.

That's true. Thanks for the pick me up. You just delivered the momentary optimism that my coffee just couldn't provide. Not even caffeine can make an MRE that much more bearable to eat. :)

Your posts are never short. At least, not spammy or post +1-ish. A post doesn't have to be long-winded as long as it has substance to it. :-)

Haha, thanks. I guess I was just used to quoting everyone like I did way back when.

At least they pay decent enough...

It makes me glad I'm years past retail. :-)

Heh, speaking of floor models, the manager of A&F offered me a job as one, which I had to turn down because well, labor laws, like I'm sure I've bitched about at least a few times in the three or so days I've been back. I dunno, maybe not, since I can't even remember what I ate for breakfast, which was about ten minutes ago. =/

I heard that the last floor model quit the job because of the manager harassing them though, and currently, she thinks I'm a guy, so yeah, I doubt that'd work out well. I mean, take off your jacket one day and all of the sudden you're fired for looking like a cross-dresser, even though you're clearly not. That'd suck. That's why my mom quit retail, too many trivialities, that and the fact that the people that worked under her kept screwing around in her department and getting her in trouble.

Aye, indeed. Speaking of things to keep an eye on, I don't know how I keep missing all these flashes. It's like they submit them right when I'm sleeping. Argh! I'll just have to keep trying.

Oblivion? I've kind of been living under a rock lately. Could someone fill me in? Judging by the name, I think I might be interested. :)

The Portal is forever fluctuating between two extremes: the bustling and often seedy city with plenty of spam, and the dry and barren desert with nothing except other sites' advertisement submissions. Seeing either after a long period of the other is rather refreshing, no? Either way, I'm currently seeing it in an optimistic light. The sun has risen again, and the many submitters of Newgrounds are awake again.

Just a random observation: Lizzardis got icon-modded.

Congrats on being able to... to...

...What the hell do icon mods actually have control over anyway? Icon banning people? Just deleting / changing random icons? I never actually thought about it until now. o_0

Hey guys, I got my Private badge a while ago, and I was wondering if I could join. Or am I not supposed to be so explicit?
