I'm most definitly opposed to it.

A sports forum simply isn't needed. Isn't it why we have General and Clubs and Crews?

1. Browse through the C&C Section - you'll probably find the Major Leauge Baseball Crew, the American Football Crew, the Football (non-american) crew... etc. - I think that more than amply provides what we need.

2. General? Isn't it made for that sort of stuff?

I can see why you'd want it, but if it ain't broken, why fix it?

I disagree with a sports forum. If there was a sports forum, then there would probably have to be forums like Media, video games etc. Besides, I think sports topics being in General and C&C are fine enough in those two forums.

for certain forums.

otherwise we'd end up with a forum for posting about live chat programs or something...

But you yourself said the C&C, and I think it's where stuff like that should go. You can easily talk about the World Series in the MLB Club, or the NHL in the NHL Club. It ain't that hard.

Besides, you'd be taking a knife and slitting the throats of dozens of threads.

Well i've noticed conversation about flash icons is arrising once again.

I thought i'd post here my opinion on them.

I think that peoples motivation to get them done is just about dead, so introduce the top icon makers list. And/or a profile stat for them.

I know that one day we will run out of icons, and when that day comes i suggest that users be made to add an icon their flash on submission.

This will mean the end of the list. It can either be deleted or continue as NG history.

Is there an on-site link that will send you to the Icon Helper page, besides the stuff in the BBS? We should have a more visible link if there is because noone will know about the icons if they don't go through the BBS.

This is true something as simple as a permanant front page link to the icon helpers page could increase production by a hell of alot.

I have some audio submissions but have noticed a small problem with the reviewing system. When I go to read or respond to the reviews I have received through my grounds gold menu there isn't a link to go back to my grounds gold menu when I am actually reading the reviews. I know it's a small thing, but it is a little bit annoying. I know I can right click and choose "back", but it would be so much more convenient if a link was introduced somehow.

Also on the subject of the icon helpers. I got well into it when it was first introduced, but lost interest when no stats page was created. Creating a stats page for the icon helpers would really help to increase icon production, as it will get the competative juices going. Also the idea for a more prominant link is a very good one, putting a link half way through a news post just isn't good enough.

Speaking of audio reviews, are they even included in one's profile? I've made a few, but they're absent from my profile, and I've never seen any audio reviews in anyone else's. Is there any way that they could be included in one's profile?

Well my idea wasn't "discussed", so I need opinions.

A "favorite user" option in profiles? Lots of people like somebody, yet, that person has no flash. It's a small suggestion, I'm not into it that much.

Then there's this other minor suggestion. How about putting the score of a flash in brackets from the drop-down menu of the "favorite flash" in profiles? I'm sure the batting average could also be put in the favorite authors as well.

Here are mine, all put together;

Ive got a little idea;

When you watch a movie in submission, it waits until the movie is loaded until it plays. Right? So you cant just vote without watching.

Now I waited until this 4,376kb movie loaded, then I watched it. And then clicked 'Review this movie' not knowing it was going to open in the same window. I didnt think it would matter, so I wrote my review.. etc. etc.

Now I went back a few steps in my browser to the movie, and I had to reload the movie, and wait 2-3 minutes before I could vote. And the movie already passed after this few minutes so I lost my saviour points.

Couldnt you add in a little data in the database of when a user clicks 'view this.. xx' it logs thier name, when its in the portal and un-blammed/un-saved, so if you do click off the window, you can come back and not wait. And when the movie has passed judgement/failed judgement, it clears this data out of the DB so it doenst lag up the DB.

Got idea? Bad idea?

Or.. you can make the reviews open in a new window on the page (not after you have voted, I know it opens then). Lol.
-------
Maybe have a BBS Rank list. Underneath;

Experience: Ranked # 10,335 out of 849,829 users!
Blam/Protect: Ranked # 5,217 out of 849,829 users!

So it would be like;

BBS Posts: Ranked # 18,403 out of 849,829 users!

For example: It would cut down on those "#1-50 BBS Poster list" and stuff. And it would be cool to know where you are on the BBS post. So people know where they stand on the BBS. :D

Hope you read. :)

I think the BBS Rank List is an awesome idea!

Yeah, I thought about it once, I didn't post it though, because I thought that there would be a problem with that. People may be insulted when the people they thought to add them to the list won't do it, or would be embarassed when the opposite will happen and would have to add them to their favorites. Anyway, it would be a total chaos. However, that is only what I think.

I'm sorry...aren't we supposed to be talking about evolution?

I shall try to break the ice by pointing out the species of wolf for example. Why are some wolves colored bleach white, while others have different tints, even alterations of coat length and color depending on their area of region that they thrive in? There are many examples like this amongst a multitude of types of animals, but it is fascinating how these wolves for instance, managed to adapt so remarkably to the conditions that they were subject over time periods? Once again this is a vivid example of natural adaptation in progress. Overall I put evolution into three categories. The first category is the uniformal - where one species is replaced by another over fairly substantial amounts of time - for example the fish coming out on land, or primates evolving into primitive human beings. The second one is the adaptation of species according to their environment - as the case with wolves and the hues of their coats to provide matching camouflage in their region's terrain. The third is something you may disagree with me: individual adaptation - the ability to learn. During the course of a lifetime, most organisms change in one way or another, either by growth or by metamorphosis or by experience. This is especially evident in more advanced species, who, over the course of their lifetime adapt behavioral patterns . In case of the human this is a most visible feature, as we are capable of free thought and individual innovation. Some may argue, with good reason that this does not belong in the context of evolution, but I think that the term itself represents change within a life form, especially an advanced one like ourselves, as well as the universal change spreading over generations according to adaptation or the conditions of the environment. This is what we are here to improve upon.

There is a problem with the theory. We all know that the universe, and Earth in particular, has existed over billions of years - meaning it wasn't crafted by God 6000 years B.C. according to the Old Testament. For all of you who believe so, please get the fuck out, we are trying to maintain a relatively intellectual discussion here. However there is one question still remaining (actually there are myriads, but this, I think is the most outstanding one), one thing that evolution does not describe - gaps. The only thing we know for certain is that evolution is the path from the simplest to the more complex. But - does is follow a straight line? There were gaps that existed between various levels, branches of complexity between a species and its evolutionary predecessors. This is a bit difficult to explain. For example why was there a Homo Erectus and a Homo Sapiens, but what was in between? Who were the creatures that filled that gap when supposedly a Homo Erectus was developing into a more modern human? What was the marking point where an animal turned into a being of sense, when it abandoned instinct and developed free thought and reason? What were the ladders connecting these branches of existence?

I'm not the one who is going to attempt answer that question for now.

Well, you can still head over to the Politics forum, and make a topic about it, or use the search bar conviently found on the bottom of your screen to see if there's an already existing topic about it, and post in it... XD

Regarding a delete button, I don't think that's a needed feature. If Mods have a problem with something, they can take care of it for us.

Also, an edit button won't happen either.

So, I'm pretty sure a moderator will take care of that little blunder for you, don't you worry.

Again, just post about it in Politics... XD

I like this idea as well, but the batting averages should still be were it is now. I think it's better if that one is seperated from the 'flash by ..' menu.

It would some space, but it would be too hard to index all the pics that the users have posted, and organise them such that another user could use them. There are a few extremely commonly used ones such as the Exp, B/P, and Whistle tutorials, but there really aren't any other pics that it would be worth spending the effort for.

Ok, here's an idea. In the user's page under top 50 B/P ers, it lists the top with their total B/P, as well as their "level" in B/P, and the name of that "rank." My suggestion is this: since everyone on the top 50 is either an elite guard supreme commander or an elite guard general, why not eliminate the rank column? I mean, just have the number of their rank, if even that. The replacement would be a separate count of their blams and their protects, which is far more interesting than knowing everyone on there is at "level" 26 or 25.

Right now it looks like this:
# username signup date gender total b/p "Level #" elite guard general/SC

My suggestion is for it to look like this:
# Username signup date gender total B/P "Rank #" Saves Blams

Thus we could compare easily the blam and protection rates of the top users. Also, the word "level" is incorrect and inconsistent, i know this is a petty matter, but it would sound better as rank. That is why I left a "Rank" column, and instead of having the name of their badge as it does right now, it would have the # similar to the "level" that is currently used.

And what would you do with the b/p rank system? If you eliminate the rank column, people do not know what they are trying to strive for and when they click on a user's profile, they would see this weird 'Elite Guard Supreme Commander' and wonder what it is.

I mean, just have the number of their rank, if even that. The replacement would be a separate count of their blams and their protects, which is far more interesting than knowing everyone on there is at "level" 26 or 25.

If somone wanted to see the separate numbers then they just have to click on the profile.

That is why I left a "Rank" column, and instead of having the name of their badge as it does right now, it would have the # similar to the "level" that is currently used.

If you look at your profile you will see that you are "Ranked # 450 out of 862,817 users!" People would get confused. So level is a better word.

I think that the main issue you are having is that there are not enough levels, like the experience level feud.
