Sorry for the delay in replying, I've been quite ill overnight/this morning, and didn't really feel up to responding

Yeah, and I wish you'd take the time to read the one of the two e-mails I sent you 7 hours prior to you posting this, in one of which I wrote:
OK, this isn't your fault, and it's something I need to sort out with my domain hosting company, probably, but my emails get checked every 30 minutes, and despite recieving the usual 10+ spams each time, I didn't get either of your emails (and no, they didn't get deleted on my PC, because I checked the spam thoroughly before deletion because I was hoping for an email from you). If I had recieved them, the chances are that comments both in previous posts, and on the download page, would have been different.
The people nestled in the Portal page running FireFox's refresh would have no detrimental effect on the database AT ALL, because the Portal page is completely static, and does not rely on a connection to the database. The Portal lists are generated as new entries come in, rather than on the fly. Thus, these people you describe running this FireFox refresh utitilty cause no negative effect on the database whatsoever, whereas your application in its current carnate requires a check on the database to see if the entry exists.
OK, I'd assumed that the Portal made the same demands on the database as the PID+1 page did, so I was wrong in making that statement, and hereby officially apologise
I had read through the thread - from my last e-mail: "you do mention that the default is one minute, but don't offer any further clarification as to time restrictions than that". A default can be changed. You didn't write that it couldn't be set to a lower value than 60 seconds.
Well here I have to disagree. There were several posts in the thread asking if the minimum could be dropped from 60 to 30 seconds (to make it easier to catch quickly flagged entries).
I thought you might have good enough grace to grant me at least 24 hours before:
I just wanted to make people aware what was going on. Maybe I should have just left it as: 'liljim has asked me to discontinue distribution', rather than trying to give people more details
a) Making me look like the Wicked Witch of the West on your site.
That was never my intention. Why the hell would I want to do that? It would be pointless. That was the main reason I sent you a reply asking if it would be OK to paste the whole email text on the site (I didn't feel it would be fair without your permission). Anyway, I apologise for unintentionally misrepresenting you
b) Posting a link to those comments from the BBS to the negative-only comments on your site, which leads to
Yeah well, if I'd recieved those 2 emails, that probably wouldn't have happened, or the comments on the site would have been different
c) People forming opinions based on one sided, information-deficient comments (like deck_head_tottie, RedCircle and Slightly_Crazy_Dude here).
I think you misjudge the Wi/Ht members. Everyone here (well, maybe not this dave_mac_dave geezer, who I've not seen before) has the utmost respect for yourself, and I really doubt that any of them see you in any way as a bad person because of this.
I never said this was a bad idea, period.
Sorry, I got the wrong end of the stick from the original email. I won't deny that I was probably being over-defensive of my work.
I just asked you to cease distributing the application as-was.
Which was done as soon as I read the email
In the e-mail following the first (which I sent just 20 minutes or so after you had posted here (before I'd seen your initial reaction here)), I gave an example of how things might work more efficiently.
I wish I had recieved it, but there's still no sign of it. Maybe you could cc denvish[NOSPAM]@gmail.com on future communications (I'll use that account for sending, too). These problems with my email are really pissing me off, it's not the first time that messages have gone missing, and I have no idea why it's happening. All the fucking spam gets through OK.
Anyway, the project is discontinued for the moment. Maybe I'll get in touch about alternative (non-resource-sapping) ways of doing it at some point (eg using the Portal HTML, rather than PID+1?). I never intended to cause hassle for anyone, least of all you, so I'm very sorry for any trouble caused/slurs on your character. If you could forward your previous emails to the above gmail address, I'd appreciate it, since I value your input.
And now, the toilet beckons (again)
