BTW, fixit was flagging reviews, flashes, etc. He has a silver whistle. Isn't that weird? I know that the program can't stop the real user to use the account whenever he wants (that would explain the posts) but if he wasn't dedicated to voting, how could he be dedicated to whistle?

I believe March, but I could be wrong.

Something doesn't make any sense.. if fixit was programmed to gain b/p pts, how would the program know that a flash is passing or not?

You know that little info screen that pops up when you mouseover the flashes in the "50 Most Recent" column? It used to say what the Batting Average was for the author. I bet that he used the program to "read" that Batting Average and vote based on that.

Would it wait that the flash has 50 votes, 100 views or another necessary stat to vote the flash because it can't judge correctly a flash that only received 3 votes. It could still make mistakes but not as much as voting flashes without a significant amount of votes.

Think of all the ways that your brain decides on if a flash is going to be good or not. Things like size (if it is 30KB, do you automatically vote 0?), Grammar in the Authors Comments (if he is talking like a three year old, or says that this is his first flash, do you auto-vote 0?), or if his batting average in his profile is really high (assuming he has a profile, if it is 4.00, then can you assume that his next flash will pass judgement?)...etc. These are all things that you can make a program do.

BTW, fixit was flagging reviews, flashes, etc. He has a silver whistle. Isn't that weird? I know that the program can't stop the real user to use the account whenever he wants (that would explain the posts) but if he wasn't dedicated to voting, how could he be dedicated to whistle?

A Silver Whistle isn't hard to get. Maybe he spent some time using his account without the program running. That might be why he doesn't have a Normal Whistle.

I can't even remember the last time I blew the whistle on a submission or marked a review abusive. Ha! I'm waiting for one of my alternates to drop to bronze before I start working on this account again. It's kind of a test to see how long it takes. I never thought I flagged that many reviews.

... and I still think fixit was a voting program.

I'm sure that he had a way to find out the current score of a flash.

I'm counting this post.

728 posts since 9/18/04

It means 15,166666666 posts per day which is smaller than 18 posts per day. It seems that I don't have more posts than him since I started to post regularly.

I'm sure that he had a way to find out the current score of a flash.

He read the HTML of the page. It searched for where it said A+, B+, C+, D+, F+ and voted based on that number.

And if the author didn't have a BA yet, then it was random or he voted based upon the above reasons (size, grammar, etc.)

Now after that system stopped, then he stopped. There was also a system of voting that included random characters that one would have to type in everytime someone voted, but thankfully, it was discarded.

I'm sure that they are easier ways to implement a b/p program...

Easier ways don't necessarily mean smarter...

Getting Silver Whistle doesn't require someone to be dedicated.

He read the HTML of the page. It searched for where it said A+, B+, C+, D+, F+ and voted based on that number.

yeh, that was a pretty good way to easily vote if you were low on time...
its easy to figure out whether to 0 or 5 something, i'd say.
first off, look at the filesize. second, see if they've got any other flashes - check their scores.
third, read the authors comments, if they seem intelligent, hover over the '2' button, haha.
if you're still unsure, look at their profile.
i'd say most people with a level 10 account, decent amount of B/P points and reviews would know what is crap, and probly wouldnt submit a free blam.
if you're still unsure... watch the damn submission!
hahah.

Getting Silver Whistle doesn't require someone to be dedicated.

damn straight it doesnt. i got it in about a week from when i started flagging reviews.
i recken it took me about 20 reviews... and i probably got like 6 points overall from it :)

Possibly

And if the author didn't have a BA yet, then it was random or he voted based upon the above reasons (size, grammar, etc.)

Somehow, verify the comment of the author and consider it when the program votes seem difficult to implement. Would his program search for key words? and then grammar.. ummm it seems very unlikely.

We could try to guess it all day, we might never find how the program was coded...

Now after that system stopped, then he stopped. There was also a system of voting that included random characters that one would have to type in everytime someone voted, but thankfully, it was discarded.

That's an interesting fact. It would mean that whoever coded fixit's b/p program couldn't find the exact scores. By exact scores, I mean the number that is usually hidden from us.

Easier ways don't necessarily mean smarter...

It means easier to code which makes it more interesting. He didn't need a perfect program to get an insane pace, espicially if he ran the program 24-7. We even have the proof that the program was missing many possible b/p pts probably because his voting system wasn't perfect.

Actually, I didn't say anything you said below:

Getting Silver Whistle doesn't require someone to be dedicated.

Although, we both said that a real person took the time to whistle some flashes/abusive reviews. oh yeah, and a silver whistle doesn't show how dedicated or not was a person because it takes a huge amount of whistled abusive reviews/flashes to get a gold whistle. We don't know how many gained whistle pts that he has.

The best french courses you could find are in Quebec and France. It's better to learn it where most people use it.

Lorsque tu utilises le pronom "tu", n'oublie pas d'ajouter un "s" à la terminaison du verbe au présent. Je suis certain que tu le savais, mais ça me dérangeais trop pour que j'évite de faire une remarque.

Here's how I would type it ( I will keep it simple): Quelle surprise! Tu habites à Gatineau. Est-ce que tu utilises régulièrement le français? J'ai appris ce language, mais je ne suis pas encore assez à l'aise pour finir mon paragraphe en utilisant le même language avec lequel je l'ai commencé.

<--- If you can understand exactly what I just typed, you aren't that bad :P I probably made 2-3 mistakes but it doesn't matter on the internet. I didn't follow any french courses since 2 years mainly because I'm learning something else at a bilingual university where most teachers know much more about their subject than the language that they use. He stalled at 49,500 then picked up the other 3 points over the next few weeks, which is what kept him from getting italics for a while.

Tha BA was coded into a mouseover, much like now you will see tha author name and size of the flash when it is UJ, and see the score of it as well once it passes. IIRC authors with no BA got a 0.

fixit stalled several months before JC's autovoter was released ... it's not to say he wasn't using it or something similar, just that there's no correlation between the removal of the BA from the page coding to fixit stalling. Alright, all words that follow a "tu" in french for the PRESENT TENSE end with a "s" BUT their the rest of their terminaisons really depends on the terminaison at the normal tense. errr how do you say "indicatif present" in english? It's like the " to verb" tense but it's not called the same way. "Trop" usually means too in most contexts.

It will take me too many lines to explain it on here and this topic wasn't made to learn french. You could go to the quebec club sometimes, they might help you :P I don't participate in that club but I might post sometimes.

well, i've got no fucking idea :P

hehe

eh, yeh i guess. so, you dont speak french as a first language? eh... i learnt just today how to use the verbs avoir, etre, aller and faire in past tense sentences... i think im AWESOME! haha.

I do speak french as my first language, I just don't MASTER my language. I'm very good at using that language, I'm just not perfect.

lol, i've never heard of Gatineau! XP hahaha. i had a look see in your profile :P
have you got MSN? i've got a French exam coming up :P hahah.

Gatineau is in Quebec if you know what I mean. Right beside Ottawa.

I don't even know how to speak english correctly, I'm also very uneducated :P <--- I exaggerated a little bit on the uneducated part of the sentence.

hahah, fair enough.

I learned the extreme basics before I went to school ;P The same happened to you for the english language.

yep yep, thats right.

"Trop" usually means too in most contexts.

are thats right, too... yeh thats it. eh, the 'to verb'... i dunno really.

Dude, what the fuck is up with you today? I'm just giving a nice link to a website that happens to have an excellent language translator on it, and you insult me? Plus, I try to make it funny, and bleh...you make this place more serious than it needs to be.

That joke is so overdone. :D

Well, this was the first time I've used the joke ever (and I haven't seen it done anywhere else), so go screw yourself.
