well, there is an extremely simple explanation for why it will take you 94 years or whatever to reach level 29-30.
for you see, everytime HumanTarget52 deposits (the lvl 30 dude), the max exp for every level from 10-29 goes up...
if you dont get what i mean... eg: your exp is something like 468/1,244... SAY.
when human target deposits tomorrow, that will change to 1,245... after the next day it will do nothing, and the day after that, up to 1,246.
it gets worse and worse as the levels go up. i think it was either RedCircle or D0GMA who has explained it before.
from waht i remember, it goes something like this:
max exp levels:
level 10 - 0 , 1 , 0 , 1 , 0 (goes up 1 exp point ever second day.)
level 11 - 1 , 1 , 1 , 1 , 1
level 12 - 1, 2 , 1 , 2 1
----....-.-.-
level 29 - 9 , 10 , 9 , 10 , 9 ....
so as you can see... the reason why it will now take you so long to get up there in the high levels, is because by the time you reach say level 14 or so... the max exp for the higher levels will be so freaking high, it will take you forever to level up... and, as you can see, 94 years to reach level 29-30, hahah.
also, you signed up like... on the first day!! you must hardly ever, ever, EVER come here. haha.

In Diablo II, there's one clan war (of 4) that's never been traced back to me. I started that one in 2000 and when I quit playing last year everyone who still played hated each other.

Before that was Archmage, an online, turn-based, strategy game. Started at least 6 there.

There was some online strat game my brother got me into before that ... started some guild wars there ... was kind of fun to log on and see half the city in flames from the guilds fire-bombing each other's shops. Forget the name but it was British I think. Only got a couple going before I moved on to AM.

Before that was Case's Ladder Euchre, back before Yahoo figured out how to make a ranking system. No real clans or guilds there, but there were cliques. I'd get an alt in good with one, playing really well with them right up until a critical game against me (or a friend of mine) ... then mysteriously tank it ... all the while spreading rumours of what some other clique was saying about them. Funny thing was, when I finally got caught at it, they runged me for "ladder manipulation and collusion," (only runged me, and only one ID) and it took me all of a day to go from 20000 back to being ranked 3rd.

Yes it's illegal. JC got too full of himself and made a program that auto-voted for users. He claimed it was to point out a loophole in the voting. IMO the way to point out a loophole is to e-mail liljim, as we've done here. He distributed it and a lot of people used it. A lot of people got busted down to 0XP citizen for using it. The basis was that it read the html that gave the author's BA on UJ flash as you mouseover. IIRC if it read a C+ or better it voted to save it, and if it was D+, F+, or a new author, voted to blam it. Maybe it was B+ and higher it saved ~shrug~

Levels are arbitrary markpoints that have absolutely no bearing on NG. Trying for a new level keeps people motivated by giving them short term goals to attempt to achieve. Gaining a level does nothing but give you a new BBS icon. Consider the following:

When you are born, your parents are 20.
When you are 5, your parents are 25, and you are 20% of your parents' age.
When you are 10, they are 30, you are 33% of their age.
When you are 20, you are 50% of their age.
When you are 40 you are 67% of their age.
When you are 60, you are 75% of their age.
When you are 80, you are 80% of their age.

Your percentage of their age continuously increases, yet at no time are you ever closer than 20 years younger. Your daily increases in base voting power are an identical situation. You constantly increase your percentage of the level 30(s) total, but, unless they miss a deposit, you will never close the actual gap in experience points.

(Level 30 XP - 400)/21 = level split

((Target level - 9) * level split) + 400 = level requirement

More levels increases the denominator of 21, but does exactly nothing else.

This has happened a couple of times before, and I'm wondering why. Once was that dickelodeon crap, but Wade or whoever at least dropped a not on it saying that they forced it to pass. Two other times I've see flash come out of judgment with scores well below the 1.60 required to pass ... like not that they passed and got voted down, but had under 210 votes and were already under 0.50. This week's turd came out of judgment with a 0.25.

Anyone know what's up with this shit?

There used to be different ways of depositing and getting XP. I heard once or twice that there was an old max XP of 7. On top of that there's been a lot of mentions of the ability to make partial deposits, as well as making up to 11 per day by visiting sponsors. The referral bonuses for sign-ups were long gone by the time I got here, but the referral bonus for flash submissions was only (fairly) recently removed. My XP ends in 5 because when I signed up there were 3 newsletters with the 5XP bonus, but new sign-ups went down to 2 when NG cut ties with Troma.
