Well, I just wanted to say hello to everyone who I wouldn't see today because of work. I hope everyone gets their blam and save points up real high ^_^

I thought I would share www.retrojunk.com with everyone. Seems that the audience that would most appreciate this site would be 18 - 30 years old, probably live in America, and maybe watched TV in the 80's lol. That site brought back some very fond memories!

I don't know about you all, but I just got reminded of a movie called "The Wizard" starring Fred Savage (early "Wonder Years" era) that I had TOTALLY forgotten about until today...Anyway, it was about a kid that was a master at video games and he ended up playing Super Mario Bro's 3 in a National Championship in California. Talk about plugging a video game in a movie!!! After I watched that movie (which I remember fondly as being the sole reason I was SO excited about SMB3), I bugged my Dad enough into buying it the day it came out (which wasn't hard since he was a big-time fan of the Super Mario series almost as much as I was).

Flashback city I tell ya! I just want to say that I am very glad I was born in '81. The 80's were such a fun and exciting time. No other time like it, I tell ya...but then how could I know? lol

Thanks for the memorys RC, did you check out the mario bros 3 video, that as amazing! that game will never grow old.
The movie secton pwned too, with stuff like: ferris buellers day off, bill and ted's exellent adventure, topgun the list goes on! i almost forgot Weird Science!!
And all those cartoons i watched as a youngen, snorks, inspector gadget and TMNT,
Im only 19 ( British as well ) and this bout back many memorys, im sure ReconR will enjoy this insight to the past, being of an older generation.

yah-huh! since the end of friday (it is currently the end of Sunday for me, nearly Monday), i've gained 131 b/p points. and i currently have 8 subs UJ in the portal i've voted on. so its been real nice to have a fast, steady portal... v good.

Nice list, gives a good feeling knowing yesterday has given us many points and a bad feeling of missing out on points because of time zones and sleeping in.

The flip side is that it's just one day. It put a lot of people in good shap for the rest of the week, but how they/we follow up on it is what matters.

The trouble for me is, it's just like the "oldies" stations these days. Unless it suddenly became a fad for no apparent reason, none of the stuff I was into gets played. E.G.: A lot of you might remember when ska suddenly became popular in the late '90s for all of a year and then was declared dead. The review mods can see the amount of affect a person has when whistling a review. That's as close as anyone has to numbers.

Like XP it's a dynamic system. Joe got an insane amount of WP while he was still working to maintain deity ... and ramagi passed him. Best guess is you'll need something between 50% and 75% of that current highest total to get gold.

hmm, no one actually knows how many whistle points an individual HAS... maybe the mods and admins do, but not us regular users. i think that if the admins wanted people flagging reviews more readily, they should put visible whistle points in out profiles... that would be good.

In theory this works fine - people flag stuff, it goes up the list and is brought to our attention, and we can ban as necessary. In practice, it highlights fucktards who take it upon themselves to get all their friends to mass mark reviews on their movies which aren't complimentary, regardless of whether they're abusive or not, and leaving (at least) me wondering how the dickhead still has his account. Current review and posting bans for the person in question is just supplementary evidence.

I'm sure I'm one of those "fucktards" but it isn't really my fault. The latest shit going on with this is an auto-voter. Someone has been submitting flash that cause us to vote "abusive" on someone else's review. It was the same review the first few times, but I think they've change it over to something else now. I've flagged at least 15 of those flash now. The twit just keeps creating new accounts and submitting it.

Yeah, I've been sending details of the usernames/Flash/reviews autovoted upon to liljim, but had no reply as yet. I did track one of them down to a few posts on General, by a level 9 user, but (assuming he's the main criminal, and I could well be wrong) he has several alts, and I think he's probably on dynamic IP, so I would imagine doing anything about him would be difficult.
Hopefully he'll get fed up of having to get new emails to create his alts, and stop submitting those damn things.

No, that's a different annoying twat. The auto-vote ones are a tiny white square that auto-redirects the movie window to a 'vote review as abusive' window (and in the later version, also opens a new window voting the review as abusive)
