Yeah, it is a cool screenie. It gets much harder in the top 150 or so, though.

Congrats!

Do i hear a mod complaining, THAT NEVER HAPPENS ;P/:o

Complaining about factors outside my control, damnit! I wasn't superhigh on Dogma's ratelist, either, but since Dogma's is from 7 days, not 3/4 days, the damage was lessened. That's all I was talking about.

SCD was listed fourth because I was trying to order it in the order of most spammy to least spammy. But I put in the et al to illustrate that I was just too lazy to find other people to list when those four sprang to mind most readily, that's all.

j00bie has gotten a lot better with that, BETTER ;P, but i do think i should as well i mean hey i saw all your posts a long while ago, but decided to just now respond, i'm getting better, or at least trying ;)

joobie is multiposting, which means the topic grows slower... but he still seems to reply to everything all the time, whether in one big post or several small ones, he won't let anything go by without his comment on it. It's just too much! He's some sort of BBS robot. O_o

But he seems to get banned about once every 10 days (I noticed he's banned again, though not by Dobio this time), so... that certainly slows things down in here a bit. Heh.

Dammit, Shit. I was going to post the exact same thing.

I already explained that sort of thing in one of my huge posts on page 683.

Between midnight and 1 AM the 50 most recent deposits list OFTEN screws up because of the vast amounts of people trying to deposit at the same time or very near the same time. These screw-ups include, but are not limited to, the following:

A) the entire list resets, and you will find that your name is off the end of it (for me, my main account gfoxcook will be gone, but my main alt, gfoxclock, might still be on it, for instance) and it's only 15 or 20 names long.

B) the list is fully intact, but your name doesn't appear on it anywhere between 1 and 50, despite the fact that you DEFINITELY deposited within the time range. I believe this happened to Crono last week. Quite common. Happened to me last night, in fact.

C) one line of the list is totally fucked up. Usually this will manifest itself in a copy of the line above or below it (IOW, a person's deposit is cloned), and sometimes the font gets fucked up or something, or the entire list underneath the error line is screwed up due to a partial font or /font tag that got sliced in two.

D) the order of two or more people on the list is fuxxed. This isn't as common as the above three, but as you guys found out on my girlfriend's birthday (Sep 13), funnily enough, it CAN happen.

I'm sure there are more, but that covers the basics. This, again, is why I don't deposit until AFTER 1 AM. I've had that policy for months now. Only exception is if I'm about to drop dead from lack of sleep and can't make it past 00:15 NG time or something, then I'll go ahead and deposit earlier. But I don't like to. So much fuckitude possible, from errors depositing to all the problems I just mentioned with seeing it on the 50mostrecent page.

Of course. I wouldn't have watched the whole series if I hadn't. I also saved all 9 episodes to my newly-created folder for NG Flash and showed them to my brother, who also enjoyed them. So far the folder has Beebo, two Brackenwood Flash's and Decline 2.

Wootage.

Glad you enjoyed it, albeit in a different way than you expected. I can't really relate to that, as I first watched BEEBO 6 when.
Uh... is that sentence finished? I don't understand it.

Jebus McCrikey, I musta mispasted. I had typed... er... well, it's gone now. Lemme think of something similar to what I had said.

Um... I first watched BEEBO 6 when it was freshly uploaded, and then I watched 1-5 soon after, and I saw 7, 8, and 9 when they were uploaded, so... I didn't have the same 1-9-at-once experience, and... I dunno, I wasn't expecting ANYthing when I watched 6 and then 1-5, I watched them on my own, I wasn't recommended them, I hadn't heard people talking about them, etc. etc... so I didn't have the preconceived notions that you apparently had about the sense of humour in the episodes.

Anyway, I'm glad you liked 'em. Got an ordering to which you liked best? My profile, obviously, shows my order of preference, more or less.

Soooo, with that combined with his lack of posts around here, I'd say something IRL is keeping him plenty busy.

At 9/13/04 02:16 PM, Recon_Rebel wrote: You know BonusStage (can I use the acronym for your name from now on?), not every post you make in here has to be a gfox style post (yeah I know, I'm doing it right now). It's nice when you throw the odd "one post reply" into the mix (just don't treat the topic like a chat line). When you continuously make long winded posts people will eventually start to ignore them even if you replied to someone specifically (you can't reply to what you don't see). Think of it as listening to an insurance seminar for the entire day. Ever been to one?

There's a pretty easy way of finding the specific section of longwinded posts that concerns you, you know. If, for instance, I reply to 10 people in 3 huge posts, and you want to see if I replied to you without reading the entire posts... either scroll down while scanning for the "At blahblahblah, MYNAMEHERE wrote:" part, OR... do a find on the page (CTRL+F) and search for your name. Either method should result in a faster "cutting to the chase."

In any event, my longass posts wouldn't be necessary if:

A) I could somehow decide not to bother to catch up in here anymore, but then I'd be like Xkwizit (coming here once or twice a month and saying "hi, what's up?" and not actually taking part in any conversations... if that's what you guys want, let me know and I'll try to satisfy you).

B) the amount of posts in here per week was cut back SOMEwhat, either by people making LONGER posts, more THOUGHTFUL posts, or just plain slowing down on the posting in here. Too much chatlineness.

C) hell, I dunno.

All I can say is that you guys seem to be trying to turn Bonus and joobie from people making big grouped multireply posts... as they have been reformed into... into people making shorter posts that will result in either higher quantity or decreased quality. I'll take EVERYONE ELSE making posts as long as my catchup posts, as long as they're clearly made, with spaces, and clear quoting, so it's easy to find replies to different people... over massively multiple posting ANY day.

I mean, the ONLY thing that not grouping quotes together into one post does... is put your sig between the posts. Does seeing a sig between the "at blah blah blah, Mr. Bobo said:" bits really make things make more sense to most of you? I just don't get that. It just accelerates and accelerates the topic further and further. One day soon this'll hit 1000 pages and Dobio and poxpower's halfjoking requests for lockage are going to be taken more and more seriously, and then Wade will lock this topic, and yadda yadda.

So just keep in mind that longass posts might be a bit harder to wade through, but they PREVENT this topic from spiraling out of control in both REPLYCOUNT and PAGECOUNT, the two stats that are going to fuck this topic in the end.

First off, I didn't call you a spammer. I put your name on the tail-end of a list of people I think of when I think of people who post in this topic the most often as of late, as far as I've seen/noticed.

I, of course, aren't in this topic anywhere near enough to keep up on it, and I never claimed that my view of it is 100% accurate or objective. I was going off an impression. And hell, I'm not going to go back through 38 pages of shit I caught up on over a period of like 10+ hours this past weekend to be able to post those 6 posts that half the people who've replied to me have complained about the lengths of, when of course the amount of time it takes to read those 6 posts is nothing compared to the amount of time I (and everyone else who doesn't post in here every day) spend trying to catch up after time away. (sigh)

In any event, I probably saw some convo that you were taking part in that kinda summed up how I felt about the whole situation so I included your name. Heck, if anything you should feel happy that I think of you as a reg of this topic. #;-}>

But in any event, it wasn't supposed to be an insult. Do you see joobie or Bonus taking it as insult? And they were #1 and #2 on the list (i.e. the most common posters in here, from what I can tell). It's not an indictment of shame or anything. Hell, I'd be on that list as well if this was March, 2003. I just can't be around here that much anymore. And to be honest, it's probably more a result of how MANY people are posting in this topic than how much the top posters in here are posting. But it is both, in the end.

At 9/13/04 06:48 PM, Slightly_Crazy_Dude wrote: I have three or four quite well established members of the Wi/Ht lounge agreeing that i never spammed up this place. Ive been nothing but upstanding since i joined in here, i even took up blamming and saving so i could chat with some of you "cooler" guys. Maybe now that was a mistake. Maybe i'll trundle back over to General were i belong with all the rest of the scum, thanks Gfox for lighteningup my day.

Venting anger? I never said I was angry or pissed off at people. I was irritated by the amount of time I had to spend to catch up, but if I was angry with anyone, it was at myself for A) being so behind on the damned topic, B) feeling compelled to catch up completely instead of saying fuck it, screw pages 645 to 682 and just starting "from scratch."

And like I just said, there's so many people who post in here, either small bits or large bits, than I'm not pissed at anyone in particular... no, not even joobie... when I see the dozens of pages I'm behind by. I'm just exhausted and disheartened by what a chore this topic can be, and it's making me start to wonder if I should bother with it anymore. I used to try to congrat everyone for every thing that they felt like posting about in here, and I gave up on that in May or June when I got too busy for it... but even just plain catching up on replies to me and replying to a few other interesting things... egad... it's getting to be insane.

...

so ANYWAY...

I'm sorry you felt hurt by my post. I wasn't putting you on trial for being a spammer, nor was I angry at you, nor was I trying to insult you. I'd basically typed joobie and Bonus and didn't want to make them feel too singled out, so I added RedCircle and SCD because you two came to mind (again, I don't know exactly why, it may have been some page or convo between 645 and 682 or something), so I tacked you both on the end there, and added the "et al" which apparently everyone either ignored and didn't understand. Take it as "and crew." But ironically, instead of sparing joobie and Bonus' feelings, I hurt yours instead. Wheeeee.

At 9/13/04 02:50 PM, Baron_Von_Bad_Guy wrote: However, one of the reasons I have not been posting in here as often is because this topic grows like 3 or 4 fucking pages every night.
I mean, I post in here, leave, then I come back to see it flooded with new posts.

Like I said... 38 pages in around 10 days.

And yeah, 2.5 days I've been away now, and... 6 new pages. Not TOO bad compared to the above, at least. Quite the rate reduction for this topic, at least. Might be because joobie is currently banned, though.

I was really happy when I saw this was still on the same page as it was when I last made a post. I assume this is due to Recon and Gfox. Recon pretty much took the words out of my mouth. It is good to post long replies some times, but when they only post with these mammoth replies that take up a shit load of space, it get's old fast, especially seeing how often they are posting them. I am not saying to stop posting, but rather, slow down and don't post as much.

Mammoth replies take up a shitload of space? Where? On the NG harddrives? Trust me, the admins don't mind long posts. They'd much prefer people take time to combine several posts into one and avoid short spammy posting (which is in the rules, after all... the only rule-related thing to long posting is the 6.5k limit on posts, which we all deal with, mod and reg alike).

On the page? Sure. But whether it's 30 short posts or 30 long posts, there's still a lot of scrolling involved. And I dunno about you, but I prefer to scroll on a single page than constantly have to change pages and wait for the whole damned thing to start loading when NG's under primetime load.

Long posts = slower topic growth. And if the amount of new pages is what fills you with dismay, as it fills me with dismay as well, then I'd think you'd be for anything that would slow that down. What slows it down is LONGER posts. That, people really cutting back on what they reply to... or finally, people leaving... are the only things that will slow it down.

I am hoping things will go back the way they used to be. And from the looks of it, they already have!

I won't believe it till joobie's off his ban and it's STILL growing fairly slowly. #;-}>

SPEAK OF THE DEVIL!

Nooo, joobie, somehow I magically can count the characters in my posts before I post them. O_o

Of course I type them in notepad. If I didn't, how would I BEGIN to be able to post effectively when I have to break my posts up into several segments? To do it trial and error with NG's 6.5k limit would take forever. Notepad makes it simple. I make one big file with all the quoted text and my replying... I make a second file... I paste a chunk into it, see what size it is, if it's around 6.25k, I post it. Otherwise, I balance it out with the big file again to get it to the right size. Doesn't take too long, and boom, there's 6 6k posts in level up from gfox.

Just out of blatant curiosity, how many Newgrounds 'screenies' do you have all together? (exp, blams, protects, new badge, level up, post count, review count, etc., etc., etc.) It seems that you have a lot of em... Just wonderin... nothing terrible important.

Thousands.

As I watch the amount of votes climb, the amount of views never moved. I 'monitored' this for a couple of days, and realized... that once again, I am fighting a losing battle. So i just figured I’ll make everyone happy (excluding you, heh...) to delete my movies... but maybe I'll just alter them to complete shit that wouldn’t normally pass judgment... That'd really piss people off then. That = Fun!

Well, yeah, I wish you'd just improved them further. People wouldn't keep voting 0 if you updated them more often, IMO. And besides, if you reupload them, those same people will probably remain pissed at you and vote 'em down unless you've massively improved them.

Maybe I’ll just change the movies like I said in my above response, though your review will make absolutely no sense at all, you'll still have your 2 reviews and 2 responses =D

Accually I think that is a mace...Some of the icons are real crappy like the short sowrd that is level 30.

A mace is a studded-fat-thingie at the end of a club-handle thingie. It's straight and can't bend or flex. But the level 19 studded-fat-thingie is connected to two chain bits. It's a safe assumption that level 19, therefore, is some sort of FLAIL. i.e. a studded tip attached to a chain and then a handle to swing it about and create teh damages. We just can't see the handle and the rest of the chainlinkage. Just like the handle of 30 is hidden as well. Some of the icons are too zoomed, IMO.

So anyway... Congrats on 19, Jen (but you need to deposit again as you've lost it to HT's deposits). Congrats to everyone else who's happy about something, too. Wheee. (sigh)

Haven't noticed for them, but I do know that HuIks name also has an i in it :P

Lot's of people use i's, apparently.......

I say we remove one of the two letters from the alphabet, to prevent any further abuse of the letters.

Intriguing idea.....perhaps I could make a program that has the following features:

* Fixes quoted HTML tags by italicizing the brackets
* Breaks apart posts at every 6.5k (set to break at carriage returns or quote blocks)

Any thoughts?

I'll dig back through the last 10+ pages of posts and make individual comments when I actually have some spare time. For now, just a general "Grats!" to everyone.

Most of you are aware of the fact that I've spent innumerable (something over 70) hours since May trying to straighten out my Verizon bills after having made the mistake of believing one of their sales reps. They've sent me to collections over their inability to keep their books; payments I've made never get applied, charges on nonexistent accounts are accrued, etc. I've sent the Public Utilities Commision (NH version of the FCC, but dealing with all utilities) to go have a chat with them, filed complaints with the FCC, and discussed suing them for the time required by them with counsel.

I just picked up my mail and there was a noteworthy event in my box, so I thought it bore my resurfacing for a few moments to share it. The only piece of mail today was my Verizon bill. It was accurate. Halle-fucking-lujah!!

/me goes off to celebrate.

WTF!?
I am an elite guard major now. I thought I had another 500 points to go until I would reach that.
I am shocked to say the least, seeing as I went to sleep with 13,999 blams and saves, and woke up with a new badge. I first thought it was some glitch.
I liked the old badge better.
But what ever, I got a large voting power boost "0.12" so now I have a 8.22 vp.
Pfft, I still remember when I had a voting power of like "6.00" and thought it was a big deal.

Well congratulations ! Must have been a good surprise. I remember it happened to me once long ago when I thought I had 1000 gaps when it was only a 500 one !

Thank you my good man, not much longer before you are at this badge as well. By then I assume you will also be in the top 50. Though it is getting harder now, a bunch of members I never heard of are really pushing through the ranks, today I was bumped from spot 46 to stop 47.

Bah, I would bet money that they will burn out before they reach the last badge. Like the song goes "Time is on my side".

Thanks for the congratulations everyone. I have to agree that the level 19 icon isn't very threatening, but it's something. I think I'm at 19 permenantly now if I can keep depositing. It's hard because I don't have internet yet.

Before all you freaks were trying to be the first to deposit. It would happen too. Just more peoplenoticing it now. I think it's a fluke in the database. Liljim probably the only one that might have a good explaination.

In other new I had to wait all day to see if games2play would deposit or not. SO much fun doing that. I get to stay number 41.

And gfoxcook also has a good explaination, which was on the previous page. When too many people deposit, the list screws up. EDN. Just because some of us were trying to be first during the past few weeks doesn' mean there weren't others depositing at the same time. He also has four examples of what can happen.

At 9/15/04 10:37 AM, gfoxcook wrote: I already explained that sort of thing in one of my huge posts on page 683.

And now we can all be happy again as we have not only learnt something, but it was from gfox as well. Well no, but be happy anyway. Or else...

In other new I had to wait all day to see if games2play would deposit or not. SO much fun doing that. I get to stay number 41.

Congrats on your on being 41 and having 44,444 points, which really seems great compared to my 4,444 saves.

nods:::
If you guys don't want that to happen again.... DON'T POST 38 PAGES OF POSTS IN HERE (that's over 1100 posts) IN 10 DAY'S TIME!

I don't even have 38 pages of posts and my PPD has nearly gone down to 3. I only made 19 posts in those 10 days. I can't exactly post less.

HAhahahaha. Maybe that'll slow down you rapidposters in here. The threat of more HUGE AMOUNTS OF GFOX POSTINGS to catch up, eh?! #;-}>

I think Bonus would be very happy if there were more gfox posts. Although I wouldn't as it takes you forever to catch up and write them, and before the gfox style post 'fad' came along, those posts combined would be the equal of reading an entire page (only without the useless stuff).
