Hypothetically if we didn't have to worry about environmental collapse, automation could really make things great for a lot of people, but there would have to be a significant restructuring of the way wealth flows in our economies, or else the only people who could afford anything would be the ones who could afford to buy all the robots that replace human labour in the first place. 'Free Markets' helped the West make incredible leaps and bounds in technology, science, distribution networks, food security, and quality of life over the past few centuries, but when labour has no value there will need to be a paradigm shift, should the common man have any hope for a good life.

Indeed. And for all progress not be continually patented and capitalized on, and the use thereof thus limited and oddly antiprogressive after all... they do say the free market's been good for innovation, but I wonder if it really has been as good for that as for just plain commercialism. Seems the way we measure progress lately isn't so much in lifestyle-related breakthroughs as much with increases of capacities and speeds and what-not. Along with a restructuring of wealth maybe we could use a restructuring of what we know as technical innovation, new technologies that actually improve upon the world more than upon existing technologies/comforts/addictions we take for granted as a way of life...

Nice work. I have been trying to make my way back since I was robbed of over 2500 posts. It has not been easy, to say the least. Also, I highly recommend users to quote my posts often. You never know which ones will " mysterious vanish. "
Has anyone ever had a problem where nglogs the site loads, but when you are signed in it will not poll despite trying the main page and your user stats page? My log is stuck with my stats from yesterday despite having deposited before going to nglogs.

Yes, nglogs is always giving me issues. I have tried relogging in, resetting it, and even restarting my computer. That website seems to just be wanky at times.
I do not know any solution to the problem. I just take a break and try it hours later.

Have you tried it again? Are you still getting the same issues?

Any time that I retried on the same day it would not log. It worked fine today. I believe I recall this having happened at least once in the past as well within the past couple months.

I have similar issues as well. I stopped checking it every day. I check it like three times a week, and it seems to work better for me.

Maybe I can shed some light on this dilemma:
NGLogs keeps track if you've logged your stats for any given day or not. If you access the site and use your Newgrounds ID to log in, if there is no data for you today, it will go out and auto-poll for you, and report it as such. Subsequent visits to NGLogs on the same day will NOT update your stats for the day, so if you do it in the morning, and then try again in the evening, it won't update, keeping the data from the first scan in the morning.
With that in mind, remember that you don't need a password to access the site, so if someone else logs in with your ID earlier in the day, they will trigger the first poll, and when you go in later (not knowing that someone beat you to it) you're surprised that it won't update.
And..... There is the monthly auto-poll that occurs on the last day of every month, usually during the day, that scans through ALL 5,700+ users in the database, and creates a daily / monthly poll snapshot for each user. So that means that all users will have stats for the day automatically - and again, if that runs in the afternoon, and you log in later, the stats are still from earlier.
From a user standpoint, if you weren't aware of all of this, it would appear that the auto-poll wasn't working once in a while.
Occasionally, the programmers at Newgrounds may change some underlying HTML or design aspect of the user pages which confuses the scanner program until I make the adjustments in the program to read the new layouts. This usually is seen as no poll data for the day, or all zeros / blanks. When this happens, I'm usually notified by many key users who let me know what's going on, and I get on it ASAP.
Hopefully, this will shed some light on the issue - and, of course, if you're having any constant issues with the site, please PM me right away and I'll look into it.

These both make a lot of sense, I would imagine it's very likely any time this has happened this would be the reason. Thanks for all your hard coding, maintenance, and hosting work on this project!!!

Thanks man.
If you keep going with organic posts like this I'm sure you'll get there again soon. :) I do remember what it feels like to have stuff deleted en masse, it definitely does suck, I sympathize with the feeling, but focusing on that which has gone and might go seems a lost and depressing cause... better strive for that which will hopefully be eternal.

Was about to say it might be some temporary glitch with the site during the crawl process, I've had that a couple times at least, but byteslinger really explained that thoroughly...

I changed the username back when it was something you had to ask permission for. It didn't redirect like the new usernames do. I captured it back again one day. I don't remember why, I just decided I always wanted to keep the name.
My first thread shows my original username get quoted, you even posted in it..., but only because I bumped it 4,000 years later.
