26.000 Medal points.
Never thought i came this far
I forgot to mention yesterday, but I reached 25,000 B/P points. Only 5k to go, yay.
Today was like clock day, but with a lot less submissions. I blammed, at the very least, 4 submissions and they all passed. I hope I actually get a blam point soon... I'm nearing 3,000 Blams.
Congrats to:
Kevin: 16,000 B/P Points
Asandir: Top 700 B/Pers
Gagsy: Level 42
Nijsse: 25,000 Saves

True true. Occasionally I see a translation of which I wonder if the translator even understands the language, or the film for that matter.Yeah. Like the time when they translated the pen&paper RPG "Dungeons and Dragons" literally. Everybody was like "WTF?"
Verliesen und Drachen?
"Wat een geitenbreier!"Geitenbreier seems to be a pretty good word. A quick search for a translation revealed many useful translations.
Yeah, the literal meaning is correct I suppose. However, it's a very uncommon, perhaps a bit old-fashioned insult. I'm sure if you seriously insulted someone with 'geitenbreier' you'd be laughed at :p
Yes, but not every Japanese cartoon has shitty J-pop with a techno beat as a soundtrack :p And even then, it probably still beats shitty American 80's rock music for this purporse.Hair Metal is awesome!
Hair Metal? Makes me think of bands like Van Halen and Kiss.
And eating a magical green mushrooms allows you to jump into lava pits, get crushed, get spiked etc. without dying. You'll just reappear brand new.And you can carry an unlimited amount of ammunition.
Not only that, any small backpack can carry up to at least 20 items. No matter how big or heavy they are.
Heh, I actually did watch that one with subtitles and it was fine in my opinion. But I agree, the film is very confusing. Perhaps subtitles actually help a bit as they show you exactly what is important and what isn't (no distracting random mumbling at the background).Distracting mumbling isn't dubbed most of the time. So, no advanage for subtitles there. :P
Oh I see. Clever.
Yeah family station which has a stupid news program that often highlights stuff like ducks getting saved by a group of children and a bunch of old folks complaining about a new sidewalk. Furthermore they got programs like "Camping Life" (which I suppose is where it has gotten its nickname from) and crappy 'Hollands Got Talent' shows."Camping Life". Hm, judging by common stereotypes, this must be an awfully succesful show. :P
Well it's mostly about a bunch of presentors going to France or some place to talk with Dutch people on vacation there and check out the area and the camping site and stuff. Not exactly top class television.
Yep. We have RTL 4, RTL 5 and RTL7. They're alright in my opinion. RTL 4 has some nice programs from time to time.Hm, we have RTL and RTL 2. I wonder what happened to RTL 3 and 6.
Also, RTL 2 is even worse than RTL.
Well here they are usually on the 4th, 5th and 7th channel so I suppose it makes sense. SBS6 is of course the 6th channel on most TVs.
And how he laughs it away with "This? This is nothing.""It's not even a flesh wound!"
Of course laughing without twitching a single muscle in his face :p
Naah, I'm pretty sure they use a tape for that too. At least, the laughter pretty much always sounds the same so I doubt it's real. And yes, they usually wait for a second or two and stand still until the artificial laughter dies down. I guess it's supposed to trick you into thinking they're acting in front of an audience.I did a google search on this, and all I found was someone saying it was taped in front of a real audience.
Really? Seems odd to me, because again, the laughter pretty much always sounds similar. But if someone else says so...
M*A*S*H originally had a laughing track as well. They took it out in the geman dub. And for the DVD release they included the option to watch it in english without the laughing track. This is really nice.
Heh, I would definitely watch it without the laughing track if given the option.
Do they sometimes also yell "WHOOOOOO" in the German version when Al Bundy or any of the other characters come in?Sometimes? All the fucking time! Especially with Al.
Lol, yeah Al always gets the most applaus. Christina Applegate gets a good deal of yelling and whistling too when she comes on.
Anyway, it's one of the main things I dislike about sitcoms. Artificial laughter. In every one of those shows you can really distuingish a pattern of:Which is why I almost never watch sitcoms.
-Character A makes remark

-*Artifical laughter for 2 seconds*

Less whiney than in the original. She's constantly whinig there.I'm not too experienced with the original. All I can say is, she's whiney in the dubbed version as well.
Alright, if you say so.

I don't know. I suppose it could be cool if you could see holograms and stuff without glasses, but I don't think it will do the films that much good.
I hope most people will realise that they'll need to visit FIVE 3D films per month to get profit out of this deal, and that there is usually only one worth seeing at most anyway. Heck, there are hardly five 3D films screening right now and it's fucking blockbuster season.Hell, try thinking of five films worth watching from this year and five more for next year. Well, 2012 does have a few things to offer such as The Dark Knight Rises, The Hobbit (Part 1) and Pixar's Brave is looking good. I'm not quite sure about the Spider-Man reboot just yet but I'll at least give it a shot. The Avengers is another maybe so that makes it... FIVE!
Are they all in 3D?
I thought Christopher Nolan prefered to stick to 2D so I would expect that The Dark Knight Rises will be in old fashioned 2D.
Good. Please let the 3D gimmick die until companies finally come up with decent technology for it.Or let it go forever. :P
Fine with me as well.
I suppose I could look for that. Though I'd be a bit worried that it will be slightly different from the original (the translations and all). I'm a purist when it comes to that. It'll be better than nothing.
That is true I suppose. Oh well, I'll see if I can find it then.
I suppose I could, but I've played plenty of Mario in my younger days. I'd rather go for something else I think.Ah well, save it for leftovers then. Actually, the offer for the free games might be too late for you now.
I think it is, yes. Stores here have already anticipated on the price cuts, of course pretending that it's "A UNIQUE OFFER".
Yeah, that it was way better than the Sphere Grid. I don't know, the Sphere Grid actually didn't seem all that bad to me, but I never played FFX so I can't really tell. What appealed to me was that you could set up your characters in any way you like. That freedom is sometimes missing in Final Fantasy games.I actually liked the Sphere Grid system. It combined the skill learning with stat increasing in one shot. Sure, navigation could be better but it was the best way to max your stats. Some games like FFVII and FFVIII made stat maxing tedious. Sure, getting 255 for luck in FFX is tedious as hell but at least the others are easy to reach.
Oh well, the luck stat was never that big of a deal to begin with.
In FFVIII it was a bit odd, because certain stats weren't so hard to max out. HP was easily maxed with Curaga or Full-Life spells, Vitality with Meltdown and spells like Ultima, Meteor and Flare pretty much instantly maxed out other stats if you were at a decent level. Of course getting the spells could be tedious but via item refinement it could be quite easy too.
In FFVII I remember it was quite tedious to morph all those enemies in that sunken... ga.... something, but it seemed to be the only way to max your stats.
So... am I right to assume that in real life you sound just like Sean Connery?Sadly not.
Too bad.

I better look into that. HMV does free shipping for CDs so I could do with pre-ordering Anthrax's new album and I might get something from Sepultura, Deicide or Cannibal Corpse (first album only).
You may not be lucky next time.On the other hand, if you want to crash my party with Manowar, this would mean, you'd be AT my party. You know, if you ever make it to my birthday party, I'd listen to a whole Manowar album with you.
Wait, what is this?
But we're hating on those who are above me in EXP. So, that poxpower guy...But there are only so many users above you. While I have one particular user above me that seems to like Afros really much...
That guy is a complete and utter douchebag.
Sure they do. They do need a bit of love after all.But not all of them look as adorable as Bub and Bob.
Then cuddle Bub and Bob even more.

Nice one. You know what means, Coop? Not long until my level up which is in 35 days time. Hang on, why am I looking forward to my next level when it's the shitty bow and arrow?

I'll save it for Sunday.
That's right, my flash has two other medals to find.I've found 2 of the 3, now I'm stumped with the other one.
The last one is tricky.
Alright then. I look forward to it.My just over a week off starts tomorrow, so that should help me.
Even better!

I told you it was a great level icon.
You entered the top 900 in B/P Points. Outstanding!
yay
Been a while since I have posted here. Just did a checkup on my stats and I have hit 43,000 B/P sometime in the last couple of weeks.

Cannibal Corpse is one band I never will get an album from.

Sure is. If he just could quit newgrounds (like he did with the BBS so long ago) I could finally pass him in Exp.
Then cuddle Bub and Bob even more.Sure they do. They do need a bit of love after all.But not all of them look as adorable as Bub and Bob.
Okay, that sounds good.

Verliesen und Drachen?Kerker und Drachen. Also, the plural of Verlies would be Verliese.
Oh I see, I see. I looked it up and it did say Verliese, but plural with an N seemed more logical to me (cause in Dutch it's also usually an extra 'en' or 'n' for the plural).
Yeah, the literal meaning is correct I suppose. However, it's a very uncommon, perhaps a bit old-fashioned insult. I'm sure if you seriously insulted someone with 'geitenbreier' you'd be laughed at :pSounds a bit like "Geiermeier" (I hope "The Little Vampire" is known in the Netherlands...)
The Little Vampire? Doesn't ring any bells here.
Hair Metal? Makes me think of bands like Van Halen and Kiss.Right on!
But isn't that genre called "Glamour Rock"?
Not only that, any small backpack can carry up to at least 20 items. No matter how big or heavy they are."Wait, where did I leave my bazooka..."
"Oh there it is, in the front pocket, next to the med kit, C4 explosives, machine guns and my trustworthy swiss knife."
Well it's mostly about a bunch of presentors going to France or some place to talk with Dutch people on vacation there and check out the area and the camping site and stuff. Not exactly top class television. But they do show a lot of caravans, right? :P
Oh yeah I do think they do that. Like... rate caravans and all. Kinda like how they rate cars ("this one is modestly priced and is very child friendly.")
Well here they are usually on the 4th, 5th and 7th channel so I suppose it makes sense. SBS6 is of course the 6th channel on most TVs.Much like Pro7 is on the 7th channel here.
But I was more aiming for the names of the stations. If we have RTL and RTL 2 and you have RTL 4, where the hell is RTL 3?
I have no idea. Maybe it went bankrupt?
Of course laughing without twitching a single muscle in his face :pYeah, I wonder how he does that.
Well he IS an ex-CIA agent of course, and martial arts expert, and his old partner betrayed him, and they kidnapped his wife and his daughter, and he has to deal with his past...
Really? Seems odd to me, because again, the laughter pretty much always sounds similar. But if someone else says so...Maybe it was always the same audience?
Hehe, you think they could get them to watch hundreds of episodes live?
Heh, I would definitely watch it without the laughing track if given the option.Yeah, that's what we did. Most of the time I know where to laugh without a laughing track. ^^
Yeah. But they still add pauses then? Or do they cut those out?
Lol, yeah Al always gets the most applaus. Christina Applegate gets a good deal of yelling and whistling too when she comes on.Well yeah, she looks pretty nice. ^^
Indeed, she does :p
Me neither.*artificial laughter from an imaginary audience*
I don't think I ever watched his show.Me neither.
*even more artificial laughter*
Alright, if you say so.*artificial laughter*
All right, all right! Can someone PLEASE get rid of this laughing box?
*BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!*
No I guess it doesn't, but at least it would make a bit more sense that they need a translator. That's just the kind of stuff you have to live with if you watch dubbed films. Advantage subtitles, I guess.
Yep.
Oh, so there were only two then.Yes, two kaisers named Wilhelm. But there where also two Kings in the Kingdom of Württemberg who where also named Wilhelm I. and Wilhelm II.
Confusing.
At the time when Germany still consisted of hundreds of little kingdoms?

Well I'm just glad a lot of Clock Day related submission were listed in the top 10 of 15/08. I believe that was different last year.Yeah, the top 10 for Clock Day were all relevant submissions. Thankfully mine didn't win but it is high up on the collection page right now. So undeserving, though.
Lol! It looks like Haggards submission also got included in the collection. I don't know how the order is determined...
I don't know. I suppose it could be cool if you could see holograms and stuff without glasses, but I don't think it will do the films that much good. It'll probably hurt your eyes that way, lol.
Yeah and they'd probably need to reconstruct theaters because if I'm sitting in front I probably won't be able to see much of it (other holograms are obstructing my sight).
Are they all in 3D?Who cares if they are?
Hopefully they'll at least offer the oppertunity to see it in 2D if they are also in 3D.
I thought Christopher Nolan prefered to stick to 2D so I would expect that The Dark Knight Rises will be in old fashioned 2D.2D is the way to go.
I'm glad most great directors agree with that.
I think it is, yes. Stores here have already anticipated on the price cuts, of course pretending that it's "A UNIQUE OFFER".Hahahaha, obviously it's not.
Of course it isn't, but not everybody reads the gaming newspapers :p
Oh well, the luck stat was never that big of a deal to begin with.In FFX, it actually meant something. It added to the accuracy, evasion and critical hits so it was vital for the dark aeons.
Oh yes, I've heard those were quite a bitch.
I think it did similar things in FFVIII (and perhaps other FF's too), but it's not like you really needed to boost it that much in those games. Boosting defense and strength was far more useful.
In FFVII I remember it was quite tedious to morph all those enemies in that sunken... ga.... something, but it seemed to be the only way to max your stats.Yeah, that was the only way to max stat. You only needed to focus on power source and maybe the odd stuff from the others.
Yeah, but it took ages. I remember I had Cloud at level 90 or so at some point and I was nearly done maxing his Strength stat, but that alone already required hours upon hours.

Yep, that's what I would guess. It's not that they really NEED to know I suppose, but it would be nice if they could tell their customers what they are serving.
