Fair enough. If you're not into the sport, there's no real drive to keep watching, though you might keep tabs, by looking at results and watching highlights of the big crashes, for example.
Heh, sometimes I watch the start of a race and hope for a big crash. ^^
Luckily the cars are a lot safer than they where some years ago, so even if there's a huge crash almost nobody gets hurt in it.

With the way that some of my more simple friends talk, the best way to watch a race is to watch the first lap or two, so we can see the start and the replays, followed by the finish. I prefer to watch the tactical exchanges, plus if I didn't, I would have missed the Vettel / Webber crash, which I believe was the route of this rambling conversation ;)

Of course, it was getting crazy with all the regulars running around with gold aura. If icon mods didn't become goldless, then some parts of the forums may as well be public mod lounges. :P Well, the icon mod crew is close enough.

Also, I COULD have had gold aura for a few hours but Tom Fulp made a slight mistake on his end and instead of being recruited on Friday, I had to wait until he had time to check his emails. On the bright side, at least I never had gold aura to begin with as if I found out I was with one but didn't witness it, that would have been a tease.

Still, hope all the icon making / modding goes well. GRATZ ;)

Thank you. It's been really interesting so far and I intend to keep up the good work.

Thank you Auz!

I really wish I could vote for more people in the best poster and most underrated categories.

Same, I always have several people for these categories. If I was able to nominate more than one for Most Underrated, you and Haggard would have been mentioned by me without hesitation. As for Best Poster, Coop would have been mentioned. I apologise to Coop for not nominating him for Best Poster but Best Mod and Master Creator are still good, right?

True that.

Jokes on you reverend!
Yeah, instead of someone sort of worthy like yourself, there is tons of nominations for people who are not underrated in the slightest.

But I'm no longer worthy.

You're having sex with someone with the exact same genes as you so I'd consider it as sick and wrong. It could be worse, though. What if it was having sex with a female counterpart?
I remember once that there was a thread, since deleted, about dragons having sex with a car. Not in a car but with it. I think that is worse as you can get. :P

But Queen's albums aren't rare.
Quite so. But there are albums that may be considered rare, but I guess not many people care for them as many albums get a re-release these days and most people (myself included) are just happy when they can listen to the songs. They don't care if it is an original release or not.

If by original, you mean the original track listing without any bonus tracks, then for Queen's album, I don't really mind if I get bonus tracks or not. Sometimes bonus tracks can ruin the feel of the album, even if they're usually placed right after the album closer.

It's funny because there are those out there who think once they've played a game, they're done with it for good, even if they happened to have enjoyed it a lot. I'd say it's the real gamers who look back at old games and play them again.

Suppose that's true, I mean even if it's just for the sake of nostalgia there's some games I'll always go back and play for a bit.

Speaking of which, I think you must resign yourself to getting Underrated nominations, as someone who contributes as much as you but isn't well known outside Wi/Ht and C&C is bound to be picked, like it or not :P

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Damn edit button didn't work -- I meant can't instead of can.

But I'm no longer worthy.

That category is probably the hardest for anyone to decide since it's so relative to how people perceive one another. One person might feel they are underrated compared to what they perceive while another don't see them as underrated.

Indeed. I had a lot of difficulty picking names this year as I've already said several times.

I wanted to vote Haggard, reverend and Sir-Nuts for most underrated. But I thought Haggard and reverend were already mentioned here and there, so I went for Sir-Nuts because he deserves some credit as well imo.

For best poster I had you, Coop, Scarab and gfoxcook in mind. I never voted for Scarab before, so I went for him this time.

Anyway, I do wish you could just drop a few catagories and have extra votes in others. Like I personally couldn't give a shit about Never Logs Off or Best Artist. Best Artist doesn't have much to do with the BBS anyway if you ask me, unless it goes to some audio/art/writing forum reg (which it probably doesn't).

Either that or at least have two or three votes per category, kinda like we do in the wi/ht? forum.

It might be a better indicator when he faces a competitor, but still a very good start to his career. He's got more wins than 4 Washington starters and as many wins as one starter, through 8 starts. I wonder if he'll be challenging Justin Heyward for Rookie of the Year? On this showing, yes he will.

I already made fun of that joke by saying the Most Underrated award should be called the Bahamut award.

Big congrats on that! I'm still waiting to be UOTD.
Thanks, I mean it is bound to happen at some point or another, still nice when it does though.

Indeed it is and I sure hope I'll get it sometime before I don't have any time for this site. Then again, I've been lucky enough to be UOTD twice on my main account on NG Log.

Of course you did. Shame you have no flashes for me to moderate. :P

But I'm no longer worthy.
That category is probably the hardest for anyone to decide since it's so relative to how people perceive one another. One person might feel they are underrated compared to what they perceive while another don't see them as underrated.

It was actually an easy choice for me. Sure, I still wanted to nominate Haggard and Auz but I went for someone who's not even a Wi/Ht?'er.

When there's a thread about dragons, I will NEVER forget about it and I remember that thread very well. FBIpolux has made some awesome threads about dragons which are definitely worth reading!
The dude is right; we need more dragons and dragon related stories on this forum.

I did suggest for new categories last time but obviously they were ignored. It's probably best if audio, art and writing had their own awards for the respective forums if they're not doing it already.

Always good to have a bit of length to the tracks. Particularly if they've got a steady beat. I think Hallowed be thy Name is a pretty good tune for length and consistent beat. I'll try lifting to it in a moment or two.

And yes, the Vettel/Webber was the start of this conversation. ^^
Look at the report and scan read for the words "crash", "carnage", "indecision", "suicidal" and the like. That should be the clues to the crashes. If there are any, then watch the video and laugh.

Well, I'm not THAT much into crashes. I watch the start of a race whenever I zap through the programs and see it by accident. That's enough for me.

Good enough, I suppose. Man, is this the only argument we're having right now?

Sadly, yes. But I bet other users in the LUL are happy about that. :P

By original I meant the copies that where first released. For example like Metallica's "Garage Days Re-Revisited". All the tracks are included on the "Garage Inc." so I'm fine with that. But there may be some people out there who'd like to get a hand on a copy of "Garage Days" even though it's a collectors item and you'd have to pay way over 500$ (at least that's the last price I heard of) to get one.
Oh yes, the original Garage Days. Now I know what you're talking about. After reading this post, I'm actually curious about Metallica's Garage Inc. now. I guess I should get it at some point but I'll leave it for a 2 for £10 deal at HMV.

Garage Inc. is pretty nice. Sure, it's only a cover album but it's really worth it. Especially the Misfits covers. I like Metallicas version of "Die, Die my darling" even better than the original song.

Yeah I heard some complaints about no innovations this year. It seemed to me like Twilight just stole the opportunity to make the nominations topic when EJR made the discussion topic a few minutes earlier.

This is why I was thinking of running the Midyear awards myself but on the other hand, I was wanting to see if we were able to wait until the end of the year to have the awards rather than having an additional one half-way through. I guess one of us could try and run the awards at the end of the year and do some changes on our own behalf.

Anyway I agree with a separate election for other forums. Or at least the Best Artist election should be held in the audio, art and writing forums.

Indeed, they'll have a better idea on who's really good at those departments. My nominations for Best Artist are really only for those I know which can be biased.

I'm well aware it's a cover-only album but getting it for £5 is a fair deal. I suppose I could get another Tool album to complete the deal. Ænima is an interesting album despite the fillers. I don't see the point in having a track which is nothing but electricity noises.
